The largest ever, monochrome exhibition of self-taught, disabled and outsider artists from around the world.

The Jennifer Lauren Gallery was proud to present Monochromatic Minds: Lines of Revelation at Candid Arts Centre in London, featuring black and white work from Madge Gill, Donald Mitchell and more. Monochromatic Minds was the largest ever exhibition of self-taught, disabled and outsider artists from around the world, featuring black and white art through a variety of mediums including drawing, ceramics and textiles.

Featuring many previously unseen works from 61 artists, this exhibition brought together emerging artists alongside established outsider artists – artists who create work outside the artistic mainstream field, often by force of internal promptings and with culture not affecting their work. Several featured artists were working out of supported studios showing their work to a wider, more varied audience for the first time. This was an amazing opportunity to see unique work from international supported studios and artists isolated in the community that is rarely shown in the UK.

There were several events that coincided with the exhibition including a BSL art tour led by Deaf artist Chisato Minamimura, two live artist talks featuring thirteen artists in total, a drawing workshop led by Sam Jevon for a group of peers and a ceramic workshop with Terence Wilde ran for the public at Hart Club London.

Thanks to Molly Davies for the branding, Ellie Walmsley for the photography and the bgsd team for the website design.
