The Tenth Girl #2

You're the One I Don't Want

Rate this book
Love is weakness.

Which is why Annabelle Mills vowed a long time ago to never let it destruct her. A former pageant queen with a bite equally as lethal as her bark, she’s interning at her dream job on the set of the highest-rated home design show on television. Everything in Annabelle’s life, though it may be cold and isolated, is going exactly as she always planned.

Until her ex-high school sweetheart moves to town. The same boy that she cheated on, once upon a time, essentially breaking both of their hearts. But no one knows the full story, and being vulnerable enough to open up about it is not on Annabelle’s checklist.

Hate is fuel.

The kind that courses through Boone Graham’s veins and allows him to shut out everyone around him. As the hottest rookie on Austin’s professional baseball team, he should be spending his days hitting home runs and signing jerseys. Except he’s seen dreams ripped right out from under those closest to him, leaving them with nothing.

Without a college degree, he’ll never take the risk of pursuing his real dream. But when he runs into the girl who took a mallet to his heart and stopped it beating, attending the same university might just be the biggest challenge he’s faced yet.

As the semester unfolds, the line between love and hate is blurred. And with the amount of baggage stacked between them, together is the last thing they want to be.

That’s the thing about hearts, though. They develop plans all on their own.

Horrible idea for a book... ridiculous!

Why would this author think this would be a good idea? I read the first book and thought that it was decent. When I saw that this was the sequel I immediately downloaded. I read the first book when it came out, so some of the details were blurry. As I started reading this I had forgotten who “Anna” was. Then I got a little father into it and realized that it was indeed the “mean girl” witch with a b from the first book. I kept reading thinking there must be more to it. Nope turns out this story is about sorry excuse for a woman who generally treats people like crap. She played queen b who was better than everyone in high school. She cheated on her high school boyfriend (not just a little bit, she went full slut and slept with another guy) because she felt like he didn’t give her enough attention. What is the point of this story, you must be asking yourself... Has she fallen since then, been made to suffer a little bit and change herself? Nope! She is now in college with a dream job as a home design intern who no only works for a reality tv show, she is onscreen. Then said cheated-on boyfriend moves to her area, he still wants her, decides to forgive her, and they start dating again. Her excuse for being a selfish POS is that she has Mommy issues because her mom bailed. Long story short, she is an awful person who gets everything that she ever wanted (despite being an awful person) including a man that she doesn’t deserve(who is a professional baseball player)! There is truly nothing good that I can say about this book, what a waste. I forgive some bad writing, but this is so wrong that I don’t think I’ll ever try this author again. Despite liking the first book, I don’t think she is the type of author that I like. I like to read about characters that I can at least somewhat respect.

Lovers can just as easily become enemies and in this second chance romance we see one couple defy the odds and become lovers once again. Annabelle Mills and Boone Graham don't have a pleasant high school romance history to tell their friends, they have a story about cheating and heartbreak and avoidance. College-aged now, both are successful in their own right, with Boone forecasted to join a MLB team in Texas and Anna's face gracing television screens in Hart & Home. Neither expects to see the other again, but life has other plans for the two. As they're forced to face one another repeatedly Anna and Boone find themselves throwing out harsh words and fighting the chemistry that still sparks between them. They're worn down quickly though and soon the two are as couple-y as ever, too bad old hurts don't die as quickly as new love begins.

"He'd held up the mirror straight to my face and shown me just how ugly I was."

I wasn't sure about You're the One I Don't Want, when I first started it Anna just rubbed me the wrong way. Carrie Aarons is one of my go-to's though, so I gave Anna a chance and she was indeed redeemed. Her attitude, her image, it's all a cover up, an armor to protect herself from being hurt further than she already has been. While some people cover up with shyness, Annabelle covers up with biting words, a snotty attitude, and the kind of confidence people dream of having. It's worked for her though, landing her a successful career with a promising future. Boone is the happy-go-lucky guy on the team, he's a great baseball player, is determined to finish school, and he loves a good hook up, no relationships for him. He's never really looked into why relationships aren't his thing, so it makes for a very entertaining story when he and Anna start down the path again. Each has to work through some hard stuff, the history between them is heavy and each holds family hurt close to their heart, allowing it to gloss over the truth of their love. I wish there had been more effort given by both parties to make the relationship the real deal, we get a lot of intimate scenes between them and a few dates, but the meaty stuff, the hard conversations, don't happen until things are rocky and it mad me sad that two successful adults didn't know how to form a successful relationship.

"We love each other more than we annoy each other. We love each other more than our mistakes."

You're the One I Don't Want features Carrie Aaron's sweet writing with a hint of her true-t0-life bluntness, and I say that in a good way. The characters are like real people, they're not glossed over, and it makes the events that happen between Anna and Boone realistic. This one is different than you might expect, but it's a hit in my book and I highly recommend it.

Not for me

Anna's character is not likeable. I can't relate to her reason for causing the breakup. Boone is too good for her. Instead of hoping for a happy ending, you just want the ending to come.

"We love each other more than we annoy each other. We love each other more than our mistakes."

That quote pretty much sums up Boone and Annabelle's relationship.

You're the One I Don't Want is a standalone contemporary (side of sports) romance novel with snippets from characters in her book, The Tenth Girl.

I have to admit that I found Annabelle to be a bit annoying and a drama queen, but I liked that Carrie explained Annabelle's actions throughout the book. It didn't take away from her nastiness, but explained a bit more as to why she did things and helped you understand her a bit more.

Boone is a damn saint - that is all I am saying. The attraction/bond/pull he felt towards Annabelle had to be extremely strong for him to overlook the shit she does. He definitely does not make it easier for her, but he's got the patience of a saint and the drive of a determined man.

The way Carrie plays out this entire book seemed a bit slow for me. There were times I found myself getting antsy to see where this would go. I think part of it was Annabelle annoyed me and I just wanted someone to slap her. LOL However, I stuck with this book because I do enjoy Carrie's writing and wanted to see how it all played out in the end.

Overall, it's a sugary-sweet read with a southern touch. There is very little angst but lots of drama, but that has to do with Annabelle and her being a drama-llama. I have to admit, as much as she annoyed me, her character is what keeps this story entertaining. If the character was any other way, this story line wouldn't work and the book wouldn't be as interesting.

She’s the beautiful mean girl in high school who cheated on the H. This is their 2nd chance story, 5 yrs later.

I loved that for once it’s the girl who cheated, and she went on to have more sex with a few om as H did!

unfortunately the book is boring with very little angst….so DNF. 50%
You should know that the h is not likeable, but that’s exactly why I read this. She’s not your normal boring, Mary Sue virgin.

Safety spoiler
In high school when she did sleep with another guy and cheated, the main characters never had sex even though they were kinda dating for months.

Why did she cheat? The usual reason, he didn’t pay attention to her. He left for baseball over the weekend and didn’t text her once and her texts weren’t returned. He said his battery died..but he didn’t use another persons phone either…
He was baseball obsessed and everything else was not as important, she thought. He didn’t even call her “his girlfriend” when they’ve been dating for months.

Even 5 yrs later, I felt like the H was more obsessed with baseball than her, so I could understand why a insecure 16 yr old with major mommy issues would rebel.

This is a DNF for me. I’m a sucker for baseball books. I love anything baseball so I jumped at the gun to read this one. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite storylines. I made it to 36% and I gave up. Boone was delicious. He had a good head on his shoulders and made sure to be prepared for the future. Annabelle was a totally different story. She was a rip. She broke his heart back in high school and thought he owed her the world. She was so mean to him but cried when he gave her a taste of her own medicine. I could understand her being rude to him if he were the one to cheat on her and break her heart. But he didn’t and he didn’t deserve her hatefulness.

When I first read the blurb, I was like "heck yeah, enemies to lovers" and boy was I right the heat between these two are off the charts. I like that Boone is insistent on getting his college degree before signing on the dotted line for his baseball career. Annabelle has a history of being ruthless, for only being a college intern on a home improvement show (similar to everyone's fav on HGTV) she's made quite a name for herself. When she's presented with a lucrative offer, she has to decide whether old habits die hard or if she's willing to turn a new leaf.

There's a thinly veiled line between love and hate which is evident when Annabelle and Boone are back in the same town. Annabelle is a driven, but rather lethal college student interning on the set of her dream job with no interest in love. She has a plan, and she's determined to stick with her plan.
Boone, Annabelle's ex/high school sweet heart, is moving back to town. Boone just got a professional baseball contract, but he's determined to finish his college degree. And more than that, he's got strong feelings about Annabelle. These feelings of hate and heartbreak run deep.

Apparently, this college campus is smaller than either of them realize because time and again, they find themselves face to face. These two are left to dredge up the demons of the past time and again. So is it love or is it hate? Are the scars of shattered love too deep to recover from?

This book is like enemies to lovers and second chance romance all rolled into one. Carrie Aarons painted a nice picture of emotion and heart break.

This was book like a breath of fresh air for me and something light hearted and sweet - prefect for the book hangover I had to endure post reading Heartbreak Warfare. And I really like this one, and had a gala, cheerful time reading this. I will break my review into different sections and lay my thought accordingly.
Storyline - This is a hate turned to love kind of story and there was no too much hatred or evil intents from either if the two (Boone and Anna), it was still refreshingly different. And the so called hatred was birthed from how their earlier high-school relationship had ended with Anna cheating on him. That's what set this story different from other enemy to lovers stories. Looking past one's previous mistake and giving it another shot Is not an easy feat to achieve especially for college goers. The way these two communicate, begin trust one another and get together forms the crux of the story and though it seems pretty simple, there are other elements to it - Like their parental issues and till date they are affected by it. So overall, it was shown very realistically keeping in mind the maturity and mindsets of the protagonists. And another interesting aspect about the books was the importance given to their professions - baseball and interior designing. They were given the due importance and also helped shaping their personalities instead of just pushing the story forward. So cookie point to the author for taking a different and unique route where careers are concerned.
Characters: I loved them both - They weren't ideal or perfect role models. Simple college goes, learning from their mistakes and stringing to be better. I especially loved Anna. She is very different from the usual female leads I encounter in most of the books. Her sassy attitude, icy demeanor and fierce stream of being so independent and successful sets her apart from rest and makes her so unique and fun to read about. it's not like she is bad but she's not easy to deal with and as Boone says - a drama queen but very engaging. For me, she was the best aspect of this book. I totally understood the reasons behind her actions and though I knew it wasn't the best course of action, I could still see where she was coming from. So yeah, though I didn't lover her as such, I really enjoyed reading about her and was always curious about how she will handle things and what she'll be doing next. Hats off to Boone for calling spade a spade and bearing with her at every turn. IT wasn't easy and I get why he would be so frustrated and angry but he still stuck with her and I loved his loyalty. He saw through her icy demeanor and embraced her vulnerabilities! I liked Boone a lot. There was nothing that particularly stood out about him but he was a non cocky star athlete - I liked that and also very warm, mature, understanding, lovable and so very patient. I was rooting for him right from the start.
The side characters were also very fun and together try made a great bunch !! I am very curious to read Cain's story next;) Though I know how it will end, I loved him and Harper, so will surely be checking that out.
Relationship Dynamics - They formed a cute couple. Complementing and also completing one another. I loved the sex scenes between them too - Nothing too graphic and yet it was sexy and sweet for them and matched their chemistry.
Writing and pacing : This book was not too lengthy and for it's length, the pacing was perfect and it never felt like it was being dragged. The chapters were short and to the point. There were not much of fillers and every element that was addressed was explored thoroughly and even the ending was happy and satisfactory. No character of element was ignored and it all added up nicely towards the end. The writing and flow was smooth and I also learned few North American terms that I hadn't come across in other books. Another plus was that I got a very picture about life in Texas- especially Austin. The book made me actually visit the place and check it out myself;)
So overall I would give this book 4 -4.5 stars. It was an enjoyable and fun read.

You're The One I Don't Want is a cute second chance romance that follows the lives of Annabelle & Boone. If you've read The Tenth Girl, then you are already familiar with Annabelle. She's not exactly the type of character who is easy to love. She is beautiful, smart and talented, but also very selfish and insensitive. She hasn't seen her ex, Boone, in five years. Then suddenly, she finds that he is back in Texas to play baseball at the very college that she herself is attending.

Their past relationship was a complicated one, where both of them made mistakes. Being that Austin is a big place, Annabelle hoped that she could avoid him. Unfortunately, that didn't work out too well. It wasn't long before their paths crossed, and what ensued was a very heated exchange. Will the two of them be able to work through their issues? Can Boone find it in his heart to forgive Annabelle for her betrayal?

Overall, this was a very entertaining read, from beginning to end. From drama to romance to steamy as hell moments. To moments that frustrate you and others that have you swooning. This book has it all. I would highly recommend you checking this one out.

I'm bummed because I didn't like this book as much as I liked The Tenth Girl. I just didn't feel the connection between Boone and Annabelle. There was so much baggage between the two of them that was never dealt with until after things fell apart.

[I received a digital ARC for an honest review]

Annabelle's is hard and bitchy on the outside to protect what little of her heart she has left. She wasn't enough for her own mother, so she knows she'll never be enough for anyone else. These insecurities cause her to make some not smart choices, and she only has herself to blame. She broke Boone Grahams heart in high school and now years later they are living in the same town and attending the same college. They both feel wronged by the other and are holding onto an unhealthy amount of hatred. Annabelle and Boone can't deny they still have a spark and seem to come to terms with the past in order to try again. Their relationship isn't easy and is a ticking time bomb because of lack of trust and insecurities.

I felt the strongest parts of the story were the physical connection between Annabelle and Boone. The passion and intensity between them was hot🔥 However, I didn't care for Annabelle's character and not so much for Boone either, but he grew on me. By the end I just wanted to see him happy. The story itself was a bit drawn out and predictable and I felt like it lack originality.

You're The One I Don't Want is my first Carrie Aarons novel but I would be willing to read more by her in the future.

Quite poor character development overall. The whole chemistry was forced.

The author mixed the verb “interpret” with “interrupt”. This could have used a good proofreading.

"You're the One I Don't Want" by Carrie Aarons is the second book in the "The Tenth Girl" series. This book is a very sweet young adult romance story. As in the previous book, it is a romance enemy to lovers and second chances, in a university atmosphere.

Annabelle Mills works for a prestigious television company and is also studying at the university. Everything is as she had planned, but it wasn't Boone's plans to get back into her life. Baseball star Boone Graham had his heartbroken in the past. Now back to her hometown, he'll have to see that same person again, Annabelle. But love is still there and they can' t leave their feelings behind.

Annabelle is a sweet girl who, although in the past she made mistakes and was also a bitch, have known how to change and confront things. Bonne is a very sweet boy, who has known how to forgive, although, at all times, you can see that he had forgiven Anna a long time ago because deep down he has always been in love with her and could never forget her.
We met Annabelle in the previous book as Cain's ex, and in that book, I didn't like her at all, but in this one, her attitude changes a lot and you can see a maturity. Boone, on the other hand, we know him in this book, although he was already mentioned in the previous one in a discussion between Annabelle and Cain. Both books were undoubtedly very good.

“That’s not true at all. I saw you. I’ve always seen you. Christ, Anna, it’s impossible not to see you. You’re radiant; the word beautiful was created specifically to describe you.".

Second chances. That's what the book is about. How much can we forget a past sorrow, forgive, and move on? Annabelle and Boone dated in high school. She, the beauty queen, cheerleader and popular girl. He the athlete prodigy on the rise. A relationship that started well, but took a different turn. The two ended up distancing themselves. Until a betrayal will put an end to this relationship. Boone will be heartbroken. And Annabelle will become colder than she already was, a real ice queen.
Years later, they meet again in college. Annabelle is an assistant in a rather famous decor reality show. Boone is a baseball player and just signed a big contract, so he came home. Two people who could not be more different. She is the eternal drama queen. He, the quiet guy focused on his goals. The spark still exists between the two. So did hatred. Will these two be able to leave the past behind, or will that relationship be relegated to the past without a second chance?
Annabelle and Boone have their load of drama. Their family lives shaped their personalities. She never forgave her mother's abandonment, and sees fame as an opportunity to get her attention. Boone on the other hand, despite the contract he signed, hopes for the university diploma, because he does not want to be his father. Two people with different goals. But they are guided by a desire in common: do not repeat the mistakes of their parents.
Annabelle was wrong. What she did to Boone was serious. But he was wrong with her, too. By not noticing his girlfriend, by focusing entirely on his goals, he left the relationship in the background, and consequently lost Annabelle.
The feeling is still present. As much as they want to hate themselves, it's impossible. The journey of the two will not be easy. There are several things among them: lack of confidence, need, hurt, things not said. Once they decide to make the relationship work, the two indulge, leave their reservations aside and assume they need each other.
A good novel about second chance, where the important thing is the growth and maturation of the characters.

Lovers to enemies to lovers again is the theme of You’re The One I Don’t Want by Carrie Aarons, and it was a great story. If you’ve read The Tenth Girl, then you know a little bit of Annabelle’s story, but don’t worry, you don’t need to have read that book to read this one.

Annabelle and Boone were high school sweethearts until Annabelle messed it up and broke both of their hearts in the process. Now years later they are back in each others lives and the hurt and pain is still there, and they are doing their best to avoid one another, but they just can’t stop running into each other. Each time they encounter one another the pain and hatred seems to boil to the surface, but the feelings they had are also there and can’t be denied and slowly these two realize they aren’t the high school kids they used to be and maybe they should give things a go one more time.

Annabelle and Boone are both complex characters which makes this story unique. Annabelle comes off as cold and calculated, but really she’s afraid of being left and is just seeking approval and love because of the one person who should have always loved her unconditionally leaving her when she was a child. Boone on the other hand was forced to grow up a lot faster then he should have, and made him distant towards people and relationships, and focused only on himself, his career and his schooling, never realizing that he was hurting people in the process. Once these two realize this about themselves, which trust me, takes a LONG TIME, it allows them to form a tight bond, but one of them has a harder time letting go of their insecurities and causes problems, which I wanted to strangle both of them for.

Annabelle and Boone’s story is sweet and a perfect second chance romance. I adored watching them get to know one another again, and fall in love and learn the ins and outs of who they were as well as where their lives were going. Their support for one another was beautiful, but sometimes their understanding needed some work. If you love second chance romances, and the new adult troupe, then this is definitely a book worth picking up!

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

Ah young love. It's messy and emotional. And someone almost always ends up with a broken heart. In this case it was two people with broken hearts. Both Annabelle and Boone had a lot going on when they were teenagers. Neither of them talked about their feelings or their homelives and Annabelle makes a decision that breaks them apart.

Now it is a few years later and they are both still in college, but Annabelle is a reality tv/home improvement star and Boone is a successful baseball player who is really close to making it to the majors. They literally run into each other one day and two things are made very clear. The first thing is that they don't want anything to do with the other person and the second thing is that they both still have feelings for the other person. After a few more run-ins, they decide to be friends and their relationship grows from there.

I love a good second chance romance. Annabelle and Boone are different than they were in high school. Once they decide to give the other person a chance, they get to know each other again and discover the reasons they were together all those years ago. I admit that I liked Boone way more than I liked Annabelle, but I also have a thing for kindhearted, sweet, sexy baseball players.

This book is part of the Tenth Girl series, but can read as a standalone. We do get a little bit of the main characters from the first book so you may want to read that one first, but it's not required.

You’re the one I Don’t Want by Carrie Aarons
“Do you or do you not? 5 stars”

Annabelle has one goal in life and that’s to make a name for herself so maybe finally her mother will reach out. See Annabelle is used to not being important to those around her even though that’s all she’s ever wanted. She just wants someone to put her first and make her feel wanted. At one time she thought that person was Boone but when he proved her wrong, she acted out. Now he’s back in her life and she’s doing the adult thing by apologizing. But what happens when only one guy makes your heart go haywire? Sometimes we…act out…
Boone has always been serious when it comes to baseball, it’s his life. Nothing has ever mattered to him like baseball, but for one small moment years ago he thought maybe Annabelle would measure up there as well but was proven wrong. Now he’s around Annabelle again and he can’t stay away. Is this their chance or will old habits reappear?
Annabelle is one of those characters you don’t want to like but can’t help but to. Boone is just straight up loveable. Annabelle said it best once and that its always the quiet ones. Aarons sucked in me in from the first word and didn’t let me out until the very last page. I loved everything about the story and I honestly hope you do too.

I have to say that I liked this book but there were a few things that I did not like in the books. For starters Annabelle the main character was a straight up biatch and she is mean and annoying and a huge a$$ drama queen who does not care who she hurts. That I did not like at all and the way she treated Boone at first made me want to reach through my kindle and shuttle kick her right in the face.

Boone oh I loved Boone because he is recovering from a heartbreak. That Biatch cheated on him and that made me hate her more. I understand why she lived her life sheltered and she was cold towards people by Boone is just not anyone and he shows her he still loves her and she can't see it at first but then she sees it and things start to change.

This is one of those stories you love to hate but keep reading because you need to know the ending and the ending oh man it was great!

You're the One I Don't Want had a bit of everything. A second chance romance with a bit of sports thrown in the mix and a touch of enemies to lovers.

Annabelle and Boone were once an item in high school. But something happened, something that Anna did that subsequently ended their relationship. I couldn't stand Anna. I found her to be bratty and annoying. There was no logic to what she did to Boone. Just because he didn't respond to her texts and her insecurity she goes and does that? SMH. I get it, she was going through some things, but that doesn't justify it. I tried to to give her a chance since she's young and not mature enough, but that still doesn't negate what she did.

I liked Boone. He worked hard for what he wanted. His dream is for one day to play professional baseball. And at the rate he's going it's soon to become a reality. When he gets drafted by his hometown team, he finds himself returning to the place where he had his heart broken. And the place where the object of his hatred still lives.

Little by little I found myself giving Anna a chance. I wanted her to be sorry and right her wrongs. Still, that didn't mean I was ok with what she did. But I started to understand her better and learn why she was the way she is. And I liked how Boone didn't just give in, he didn't just fall at her feet. But does that mean they can work through their issues? Can Boone forgive Anna for her betrayal?

All in all, even though at times I was frustrated I found myself cheering for Boone and Anna.

You're the One I Don't Want is a stand-alone romance, that is fun and full of lust and dislike and a lot of heart. I haven't read many of Aarons' books however I may need to change that now.

Annabelle is a bit of a drama queen and I found that I didn't really care for her initially. Aarons does a great job of showing us why Annabelle is the way she is and you can see past those flaws that might have you getting annoyed with her. I was so excited to watch this relationship unfold between Annabelle and Boone.

Overall this was a great read, however, there were a few parts that moved a bit slow for me but it was worth reading for sure.

Y’all I love this story so much. The angst was so intense from the beginning because of the messy past that Annabelle and Boone have. But their connection was just as intense and I loved every second of it.

I’m team Boone because he’s so freakin precious and he had every right to be mad at Annabelle for their past. His heart is so big and forgiving that I love seeing that side of him. And who doesn’t love hot baseball players???😍

Anabelle grows on me because I was not a fan of her in the last book where we meet her and the beginning of this one. BUT she does redeem herself. I adore the side Boone brings out of her.

Boone is one dirty hero and I’m here for it.

Reality bites!

Annabelle and Boone broke up in high school after a mistake Annabelle made. Meeting again in college, the chemistry is still there but can they overcome the past and build a future? Can they both open up about the demons that drive them? This book was full of chemistry, redemption and pulled out all the feelings! Carrie has once again given a book that is both addictive and mesmerising. Her characters are realistic and make you long for them to get a HEA they deserve

I liked the sound of this book and I'm a fan of this author however this book just didn't hit the mark for me.

Neither of the main characters came across as very likeable. Annabelle seemed such a self absorbed young woman and Boone was impulsive and hot headed. I just couldn't connect with either the story or the characters.

Wonderful!!

Beautifully written and it gives you all the feels.
I loved Annabelle and her attitude...she may seem impermeable but she is a tough chick with a heart as big as Texas!! And Boone...hot dang...that man is something else.
This book was just amazing!! Ms. Aarons...hit it out of the ballpark with this one!!
Read It!! Y'all will love this second-chance romance!!

Not into cheating. It felt like the heroine was not at all guilty of her actions and tried to make up reasons to justify her cheating . This was not a good second chances book . You might want to skip it

Enemies to lovers!!How much more delicious tension can you possibly want?

High school "hanging out" turned bitter nastiness because of bad choices and self-esteem issues. Annabelle and Boone are about to come face to face with their past- in real live Technicolor. Heated tempers, jealous fits, and snark abound in the pages of this Tenth Girl follow up.

Buckle up for this enemies-to-lovers/second chance romance!!!!

The synopsis begins with “Love is weakness.” The two characters, Annabelle and Boone, live their lives by that mantra. Annabelle strictly lives by that rule because of her past and her abandonment issues. Boone feels that way because of Annabelle. The two were somewhat involved in high school and ended up breaking each other’s hearts, although she was the one who cheated on him. You might think their story ends there, but that turns out to be just the beginning for these two. Fate has brought them back into each other’s worlds, but it’s up to them to make it work...it will definitely be a lot of work with the baggage these two are carrying.

The romance wasn’t instant as you can imagine. They have a lot of distrust and dare I say, hatred, for one another. Underneath all of that are still a lot of unresolved feelings for one another. I’m so glad that Aaron didn’t rush this. There is a good bit of drama, but that is what makes the story so realistic.

I was team Boone from the very beginning. He certainly didn’t have the best of childhoods, but it made him determined! He isn’t your normal athlete. He really is down-to-earth, and he has made his mind up not to repeat his father’s mistakes. He is also very vulnerable where Annabelle is concerned. I just hoped she wouldn’t completely break him this time.

Ah, now I get to Annabelle. I have to say I was not a fan of this girl AT ALL! She appeared to be self-absorbed, rude, and completely not worth Boone’s time. I don’t think I have ever had such strong feelings for a character as I had for her in the beginning. I wasn’t sure how this was going to affect how I felt about the book. However, I shouldn’t have ever doubted Carrie Aarons. I completely misjudged Annabelle. As more of her character was revealed, I began to see exactly why she was the person she was. She completely closed herself off to anyone else because the person who was supposed to love and protect her abandoned her. She made up her mind to never open her heart to anyone. My heart hurt for her, and her strength really amazed me. Aarons really created one of the most memorable characters in Annabelle. It is the mark of a gifted writer when he or she can completely change how you feel about a character!

I have been a fan of Aarons for quite a while now. She has this amazing ability to write different kinds of romance, and they are all fantastic!!! She creates a great story with each one, with unforgettable characters, and this book was no different. Her writing always makes me come back for more!!!!
