BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State junior guard Reginald Gee was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week after leading the Hornets over Birmingham-Southern last week, announced by the conference office Tuesday night.

Gee, a preseason Second Team All-SWAC selection, scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds, one block and one steal in the Hornets' lone game of the week, an 86-44 victory against Birmingham-Southern last Wednesday.  Gee currently ranks third in the conference in points per contest with 16.5, is ranked fourth in the SWAC in field goal percentage at .488 shooting, fifth in free throw percentage at .750 and is ranked fifth in 3-pointers made per game at two.

The junior recently went over the 800-point mark in his career at Alabama State, and now has amassed 814 career points in just two-plus season.

Alabama State (2-2) returns to action Wednesday on the road against 24th-ranked Iowa at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
