Captain's comment Dear Members We have noticed recently that the bunkers are often not raked, resulting in golfers getting very bad lies in the bunkers. We have recently filled the bunkers with new sand which takes a little while to settle in, but at a recent council meeting we also discussed the efficiency of the new rakes. It was decided that the rakes need to be replaced with rakes that suite our texture of sand which we will be doing in due course. We hope that when we receive the suitable rakes, that all golfers will again rake the bunkers leaving no foot marks, divots or ridges. Please try your best until the new bunker rakes arrive. Please also fill all divots and repair pitch marks, especially now in winter when growth is slow and conditions are damp. Again, I remind you all that if everyone fills one divot per shot, and fixes one pitch mark on each green, we will not have one on the course. On a humorous note, I find the way I am currently playing golf helps with pitch marks – I don’t hit many greens and then I putt from inside 50m. I then repair three pitch marks while my fellow golfers are putting, leaving the green better than when I eventually arrived. Please click on ASK THE CAPTAIN to read some of the questions and answers. Have a great week, and will see you next week after I return from my last camping weekend before the cold winter sets in. We are currently busy with the reconstruction of some of the areas at our workshop and will try and minimise the noise as much as possible. Your patience in this regard appreciated. We are still busy on the course with trimming our trees on the course. Our main objective is to trim away the dead branches and control the water veins in our trees. This encourages more growth in shaded areas and help control bark fungus. | | | | | | Course staff squaring up our Yellow, White, Blue and Red Courses |
