Perdition

Rate this book
In the eyes of a young girl with a crush, the perfect man exists.

After the events of the last year, she isn’t young or naive anymore. A brutal attack has left nothing but extreme darkness inside her that not even the people who love her the most can mend. A bus ride and a chance encounter have her shadowed path crossing with someone who nurtures the wildness within her as evil ravages her soul and a journey of self-medicating begins. Sometimes, you have to rip apart and tear away at layers of heartbreak and anguish to find a semblance of peace within the future.

Falling into a headspace so dark that there is no coming back.

Sinking into choices so self-destructive that her body, heart, and soul might never heal.

Spiraling down until she becomes her own worst enemy, inflicting further pain.

Pure evil takes away everything that makes her who she is. Cold touches from the hands of strangers and comfort in the form of injecting numbness straight into her veins can’t help her escape. Forget teetering on the edge of the wreckage.

She’s welcoming, inviting, seeking.

Nothing is ever perfect, and the same can be said here.

This is Teagan Hensley's story.

Warning:
Perdition deals with heavy topics of violence and emotional distress. The graphic scenes and the followup are intense and dark. Caution is strongly advised for those sensitive to physical and sexual violence, drug use, and depression. Strong language is also used throughout the story. You've been advised.

As a child, Jennifer Michael dreamed of being an author. Life and adulting eventually pushed that dream down to a mere fantasy, which was where it stayed for years. Then, through a stroke of luck and a Kindle, she found the indie romance world, and the dream that was long ago deemed unattainable became a reality. Writing fulfills pieces of her she lost long ago.

Jennifer writes stories that range from sweet and sultry to dark and daring. Behind her computer, she’s constantly dreaming up where she’ll go, what new characters she’ll meet along the way, and what genre she will concur next.

From her house in southwest Florida, she spends far too much time wishing she were at the beach with a good book. She’s an avid reader of fiction, but is a huge fan of gritty stories with deep emotion or dark twisty plot twists. She’s also known to indulge in guilty pleasure television shows. She gets sucked into the world of characters from all mediums. She loves to hear from her readers so make sure to check her out on social media.

So good!

This book was such a rollercoaster of emotions! This second-chance love story blew me away!! It is Deep book, but Lord help me it's also a HOT book! It's definitely not a standalone, so you know that things have happened to Teagan in Vengeance in Bloom. How do people deal with trauma? Some do it through therapy, others find other means of coping. Teagan journey was so emotional, her internal thoughts had my heart hurting for her.

It's written in present tense/past tense, so while you're reading about what's going on now between her and Kai, you're also experiencing all the things in the past that they've gone through together.

Kai is the ultimate BBF. His feelings towards Teagan scream so loudly from the pages. He's an alpha that falls in love and that's just the best kind of love story!

We also get to see more from our past favorites in the series, Burke, Paisley, and even Callem!! Their secondary characters help breathe life into this story.

Like I said above, this book was a rollercoaster of ups and downs, left and right, that kept you in your toes. There were several "what the heck!" moments that had my jaw hitting the floor. But the ending was perfection. 5 stars for this amazing read.

Jennifer Michael took me on a gut wrenching journey that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I just wanted to take Teagan and run away and never look back. This story is heartbreaking, but you pray for a happy ending because the love that Kai has for her is never ending. I went from holding my breath to freaking out to crying and wanting to throw my damn kindle.
Jen, you give angst a whole new meaning and when I thought the level of devastation couldn’t go any higher you proved me wrong. I got angry and sad and felt like my heart would never beat happily again. Thank goodness sexy bad boy Kai brought Teagan back to life. This story is not for the faint of heart but it is such a great read. Jennifer, you wrote a book that will stay with me because you broke my heart, but also found a way to fill the cracks and make it whole again!

Oh dear lord, this book is EVERYTHING!
Seriously, i was sad then angry then happy then back to angry, slightly annoyed, shocked, back to happy.
With pure genius in her story telling, Jennifer Michael is one of my favourites. Her ability to cause the reader to have so many mixed emotions, to fall so deeply into the words you can't breathe or dare to blink is just awe inspiring.
There are some truly harrowing moments in this story, real heart breaking situations and i applaud Ms Michael for having the guts to not pussyfoot around with it.
The mental strength, determination, love and respect these 4 characters have for each is perfectly portrayed in this story.
Perfectly written, emotive and poignant.
My favourite series by a mile.

Perdition by Jennifer Michael is a standalone and book three in her Love Unauthorized series. The previous books are Deceit in Bloom and Vengeance in Bloom. Both are not standalones and tell Paisley and Burke's story.
Perdition is a dark read and deals with sensitive subjects, has graphic scenes and is Not for the faint of heart.

Perdition is Teagan and Kai's devastating and heartwrenching story. The story picks up where the previous book was left off. Teagan was kidnapped and violated. Her brother and her lover rescued her, but she's too gone. She's only a broken shell and spirals down faster and faster. Then she hits rock bottom and her family is still clueless, then helpless. Her alpha brother doesn't know how to handle her pain, desperation and addiction.
Teagan has given up on life. She barely exists and blames her family - I will not spoiler here, only so much, Perdition is a read that pulls you in, whirls you around and then spits you out. I was in a roller coaster of emotions, I was angry, disgusted, sad and at some point I was so so mad at the characters.
Perdition is a book that stays with you. I recommend this gutting and raw read and give 5 heartwrenching stars.

Perdition by Jennifer Michael is a hard hitting and incredibly tough read.

This novel is in Teagan and Kai's POV. You get to see through the eyes of Teagan and the tragic circumstances that literally turned her world upside down, and you see Kai completely helpless.

This story broke My heart on so many levels. To see Teagan battling her demons was incredibly hard. My Heart bled for her. And it also broke for Kai as well.

Although hard to read at times, this novel was incredible. It wasn't flowery or pretty. It was dark, gritty, raw and not pretty at all. It showed just one of the things that can happen to a victim of any kind, and it didn't hide. Jennifer Michael did an incredible job on this novel.

Perdition is a Must-Read. Although a hard hitting read, its emotion will make you root for Teagan and Kai, and get her the justice that she deserves. Brilliant!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

First off I am going to give you the warning that this book is dark and deals with drug use and physical violence and has strong language. It may trigger some people. You also need to read the previous book in this series Decit in Bloom and Vengeance in Bloom. I loved these books so freaking much and am so excited to get to read Perdition. If I thought I was blown away in the first two books then I don't even know how to explain just how epic Perdition is. This is the story of Teagan who you met if you have read Vengeance in Bloom. You know that Tegan has gone trough some very serious trama and now your going to get to see the aftermath of just what dealing with it for Teagan looks like and it isn't pretty. But it is what she feels she needs to go just to get through a day of life. She is so lucky to have Kai. Can I just say that these two have some smoking hot chemistry and I loved this alpha male with my entire heart. Heck I love all these characters in my own special way. I read the first two books right in a row and this one blew me away. It is dark and intense and will have you on the edge of your seat. It is also super emotional and so well written that you are right there in the moments with Teagan and Kai. This is the story of a taken young woman who falls in with the wrong crowd. Who survives by sticking a needle in her arm and any other way possible but most of all she is loved by Kai and that is what will ultimately put her back together. You do not want to miss this book. It is nothing short of amazing. Jennifer Michael just has this way of writing that will have you in the moments with these charaters, beggining for a happily ever after, and feeling so many emotions it is like you have fought the war right along side. Plus we get to see all the other characters that we have fallen for in the previous books. I would give this book a million stars if I could and I know without a shadow of the doubt that this will be one of my favorite reads of 2019.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I am going to reiterate Ms. Michael’s warning. This book is not for anyone with triggers. It is not for the faint of heart for this is very dark and intense. She will have you squirm in your seat due to the issues and emotion that is in this book and rolls from the book. It is one that faces someone’s demons and consequences to her actions in a very upfront, dark and doesn’t leave anything out. You will see all of Teagan in the most unvarnished and raw way. Her thoughts, emotions, feelings and what she does and all of her actions are not sugar coated so if there is any doubt this would not be a book to pick up.

This is Teagan’s story. How she goes onto to a very dark and hellish place after the farmhouse in Vengeance in Bloom. Her walk through hell and how she came back. She didn’t come back though without a fight and without Kai, Paisley and Burke by her side and supporting her. Her trip in hell is heartbreaking, emotional and torturous. All you want to do is smack some sense into her and at the same time hug the snot out of her and tell her everything will be okay even though it won’t be. You know she must hit rock bottom before she can crawl out and boy is that rock bottom hard to see. I love though how it is Kai that is the one that grounds her and helps her the most. How he is the one that understands what she needs and takes it all from her and is still the most loving and supportive for her. How he helps her come back and at the same time is also giving her the strength to become independent and have a voice. How he sees her as a woman and begins to let her in on things to show that he respects her and loves her.

Kai is the one that just takes my heart in this book. His love for Teagan is seen throughout the book. As we go from past to present in the chapters and we see both his and Teagan’s view there is no doubt as to his feelings for her. How he would go through fire for her and do what is necessary to bring her back. You see the depth of his emotions and feelings but also see how much he truly understands and respects Teagan. How he learns to let go of his seeing her one way and begins to open up more. But as she is fighting he is by her side fighting with her. He shows her that he is not judging only loving and understanding her. He is not disgusted but showing her how beautiful she is and how much he knows she will never be who she was but how he wants her to be who she is supposed to be after the pain and what she went through. Who she is to be after she deals with the farmhouse and her decisions afterwards.

These two will sleigh you and so will Teagan’s story. It is powerful and dark. Emotional and heartbreaking. But you also see a fighter in Teagan and in Kai. You see love win and you see a girl come back from the vestiges of the evil in her mind and the darkness she fell into to find some peace, herself and love that was always there. Jennifer Michael has written a powerfully raw and real story of one girls struggle to crawl back to be stronger and to let love back in her heart. A truly wonderful tale and ending to this series.

Perdition is the third book in the Love Unauthorized series. Teagan and Kai’s story and one I’ve been waiting on for some time. I’ve read Deceit in Bloom and Vengeance in Bloom and absolutely fell in love with Burke and Paisley.

Teagan is trying to cope after the kidnapping. When she can’t erase the terrifying images and memories it’s too much. The family is trying to do everything to help her when all she wants to do is run away. To see Teagan go from being such a strong person to an addict is truly heartbreaking and Kai watching it all unfold is breaking his heart. He truly loves her and will do anything to get her back.

What I enjoyed the most in Perdition is you get a glimpse of Teagan and Kai in the past. How their attraction started and progressed while hiding it from Burke.

“You’re the greatest destruction I ever could have imagined”

This story is a roller coaster of emotions. It was worth the wait and a great ending to the series.

Perdition

By Jennifer Michael

I have been waiting for this book for a while. I have read and reviewed both of the books before this one. I was not disappointed in this book at all. It was the rough raw world that she has created. There are things in this book that may be triggers for others. Things like drug use, rape, and abuse. The end of the last book we saw that the girls were saved. Teagan was damaged from what happened when they had been kidnapped. She feels that she has no control over her own life. Her brother and his best friend have been there to fix things and keep her safe. She ends up getting with the wrong man and the wrong crowd. The downward cycle she goes on really does show how easy it is to get into drugs.

This book was great, it was worth the wait. I love the way Jennifer writes. She can grab you by the hand and drag you deep into her world. I saw that there is another book about one of the side characters. I am going to get that one just as soon as I can.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. If I could I would give it more.

Wow, the first two books for me were like a dip into a dark read, but this one blew it out of the water. The road that Teagan took from the pain of what happen to her was way down a rabbit hole. However, kudos to our author for writing how one could walk the same path, and has walked it, from such a tragedy. To see how far our heroine spiraled down is dead on for one with a addiction, as well as what limits they will push to get their next fix.

I wanted to yell at Kai to save her, but really T could only save herself from what she put herself into. She had everyone backing her up, willing to help her. They are all better together, stronger as a family. Fight for each other they did. Although, I found I liked Paisley and Burke's dynamics better in connecting with them as a couple then I did with T and K, I still thought their love was strong. The end was perfect and wrapped everything up nicely. Great read.

Young crush, to falling in love to heartbreak. The raw emotion in this book is amazing. I felt everything Teagan went through with the beautiful words written. The pain, the drugs, but then all the love of a family. Families come in different ways. The beautul way Kai brings Teagan back to the living is just amazing. I love, love, loved this series. This is a great ending to a amazing series.

A Great Read!

This book is so well written. I went through so many emotions...anger, pity, rage. I wanted to shake the h and tell her to get it together. I wanted to shake the author and ask wth she was thinking at one point lol. There is sex, drugs, addiction, love of family and love of your man in this one and it is a great addition to this series.

Whoa what a journey but if I had been through what Teagan has been through I may have made the same decisions. Kai and Burke are not going to let anyone get away with taking Teagan but that’s not where the story ends, it’s where it begins. Can anyone survive this? Kept me on the edge of my seat right till the end and you pray for a happy ending. This is the conclusion to the story that started in Deceit in Bloom so if you haven’t read it go back and get it.

Hmm..this book was kinda hard to read at first. It has some touchy subjects and isn’t in my normal genres to read. But it’s written by one of my favorite authors and it’s the next book in the series so how could I not read it? I really wasn’t sure what I was gonna get from the book, this author always surprises me.

You need to have read the first two books in this series to fully understand the story, this however is Teagan’s story and it’s a whole lot of hurt, frustration, and heartache. She’s a very strong willed girl but even the toughest crumble. My heart broke word by word but I had hope. Her story takes us on a deep, dark path. I’m still trying to get this book out of my head, the horrible things that poor girl went through. I loved Perdition, even when it was hard to read. Teagan is not the same person in this book as she was in the first two. But I think I love her more, after everything she went through.

I’m one hundred percent recommending this book to anyone who’s read the first two! But hold on with both hands, you’re in for a ride! While it’s full of heartache it also has hope, determination, and some hot and sexy scenes. The perfect book, right?

I’m not even sure where to start. I don’t think my review skills could do this book justice.
It just tears you up and spits you out. Just when you think you know what how to react everything gets crazier.
Tegan’s story has left me totally floored. This intense, super consuming, high paced read will not let you rest until you have read the very last word. Even then you will want more. This story follows her trying to exist after enduring all kinds of mayhem in the previous books. Ultimately Tegan makes the choice to live her life the way she needs to. No matter the cost.
This story also has one of the most amazing characters I’ve ever read, Smith, I know I might be the only one praising him but he truly blew my mind.
Kai is also freakin amazing. In a sexy bad boy kinda way but Smith really was epic.
I would recommend reading the other books in the series if you haven’t. They are all really good.

~ 4.5 Stars ~

So here's my backstory to reading Jennifer Michael's work. This past September, I told myself to pick one author work to read for an upcoming signing. If you've read any of my reviews then you know I'm a sucker for dark romances. Nothing is off the table. Truthfully, the darker the better. Not sure what that says about me but that's a story for another time. I picked book one in this Love Unauthorized Series and I devoured it. Naturally I went into the second book and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this third one, Perdition. I think we all wanted Kai and Teagan's story and it's finally here!

You've seen the warnings already but I'll say it again. There are some serious triggers in this book so please do not read this if you can't handle the darkness. Most of it has to do with drugs and violence but there's also a mental darkness that I personally think can mess with some people's minds. So of course I'm all over it, because that's who I am.

With all that being said, I could have asked for a better story between these two. I was all over the place. One moment I'm smiling and the next my chest hurts and I'm treating to throat punch the author. True story, I have no remorse for my feelings. What I love the most about dark romances is  experiencing a messed up and unwavering, epic love from broken people. Tegan is absolutely broken. Her story is heartbreaking and uplifting combined. Two things that don't naturally go to gather on paper but make a person who they are in real life. Michael's just has a way with her character building that brings you into the story with them. You feel their pain. You feel their passion and mostly you feel their love.

Simply put, this is one dark romance you do not want to miss out. Be prepared to immensely feel everything and if that isn't a great sign of a good book and great writing, then I don't know what is.

Are you ready for a gut-wrenching story line? Perdition is the type of book that will stay with you for a while. I don't mean just days. I mean weeks. This book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. Teagan's story is heartbreaking. But the drugs is just the beginning. There is so much more to this story.... Jennifer has written another amazing book!!!!!!!

I am sure this book will reach many of people in regards to emotions. Be Prepared. It's a doozy!

Perdition is Book 3 of the Love Unauthorized Series and let me tell you, if you thought the first two books were gut wrenching...you haven't seen anything until you read Perdition!

I'll start by saying there is a WARNING for a reason, there will be plenty of triggers for people who are sensitive to certain subjects including sex, drugs, addiction, rape, & abuse.  You've been warned!

I could literally feel everything Teagan went through, watching her battle her demons is truly heartbreaking. Jennifer Michael's writing is just that darn good that not only could I visualize, I could feel Teagan's pain.

Teagan, gosh this girl has been through the ringer! If you have read Vengeance in Bloom then you already know some of it, I'll just say this is her story AFTER the Farmhouse....I'm really trying not to give spoilers to ANY of the books just in case someone hasn't read the series.

Kai, I love, love, love seeing an alpha that screams he's in love. Even though Teagan might have been blind, I saw it screaming from the pages! If it wasn't for Kai, I don't know if Teagan would have been able to beat her demons.

Perdition is written in dual POV as well as from the past and present tense, the storyline flowed very well though and it was easy to follow along. Where as some get confusing when they are skipping back and forth, I didn't have any problems with this book .

The ending...**sigh**, you need to check this book/series out! You won't regret it.

Jennifer has become one of my favorite authors! This series, I still haven't gotten enough of it and I can't wait to see what else she has coming!

I received an ARC copy of Perdition from the publisher for my honest review.

While I am not the biggest fan of dark romance, this is one of my all-time favorite series and while I'm sad to see it come to its close, the ride it took me on was everything I could have hoped for and more. The writing is absolutely captivating and vivid, you get hooked into these characters lives before you know it. It's because of her amazing writing and storytelling ability that I'll read anything she writes.

Though this novel definitely has some pretty dark moments, there is also a sense of hopefulness present. A sense that things will get better after the storm that's raging has passed. The ending was well worth everything that happened within the story. Teagan and Kai's romance is to die for. Can you say new book boyfriend? I have been rooting for their passionate, forbidden romance since book one and the wait was well worth it.

If you want a dark love story that will chew you up and spit you out after taking you on a roller coaster of emotion and drama, this is the story for you. Definitely start with book one, Deceit in Bloom first!

Fans of dark romance will love this series and romance lovers looking to branch out and try something new should give these books a try! You might fall in love with them like I did.

Oh my hell, Perdition brought me to my knees with all the feels! Jennifer Michael didn't hold back when it came to Teagan's story at all! In the aftermath of her brutal attack, Teagan couldn't function, nor deal with her family, or Kai, because she sort of blamed them, but mostly, she couldn't stand herself. So she spiraled, refusing help, she took off, and her life only got worse, as she did things to forget. And these things were decisions that she may never come back from, even when Kai found her again. Yeah, this was no easy read, as the pain radiated out of my kindle, and punched me right in the gut. The raw emotions was realistically portrayed to the point that I had to take breaks, not long ones mind you, because I had to see how it would all pan out, but enough of ones that I could catch my breath. The family dynamics were in full force, with issues as well, because when family feels powerless, things happen. So yeah, Ms. Michael nailed it with this story, and please understand, it wasn't an easy read, but it was a powerful one. And it was a story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This story was absolutely gut wrenching. It's not often that I want to just jump in a story and save a character, but Teagan made me feel that way. When I started reading Perdition, I realized it had been so long since I'd read Deceit in Bloom and Vengeance in Bloom I needed to do a re-read of those to remember everything that happened. I am so glad that I did. This story needs to be read as part of the trilogy because it is missing a lot without the first two books. I love this group of characters, but Kai has always been my favorite. Seeing his love and devotion for Teagan throughout Perdition was my favorite part. He never gave up on wanting Teagan and did what he had in order to have her. I hated the turmoil that Teagan went through and was so glad that she got her Happily Ever After. This was my favorite story yet!!

After reading the previous two books I couldn’t wait to read this story. I wasn’t disappointed as I absolutely loved this story.

I’m wary of saying anything about the storyline as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone that hasn’t read these books. I will say this is a fantastic read. I felt the author threw me on a high speed rollercoaster and wouldn’t let me off until I’d finished.

So much angst, twists and turns had my head spinning and I loved every minute of it.

I’m so looking forward to seeing what this author comes up with next. I highly recommend this series.

It has been a couple of years since I read the first two books in this series so it took me a little bit to remember the story. It started out heartbreaking. However, it turned into something powerful and poignant. There are definite triggers but the growth of watching someone go from victim to triumphant was powerful to watch.

Perdition is dark and gritty. This series has some dark moments but Perdition gave me Teagan at her worst.

She suffered horribly and doesn’t fair well after being rescued. The author does an excellent job of making you live Teagan’s pain. A few scenes are shocking but make the story all more real.

Her road back to herself are drought with bad decisions. She causes so much pain to her brother and Kai. Them loving her through it all shows what true love should be. People that have seen you at the very bottom and still reach out with open arms are the true heroes of this book.

The conclusion of a great story albeit a dark one. Well done Ms Michael!
