Hearts fans turn on minority Jambos contingent ‘chanting for Tommy Robinson’ – amid claims of sectarian songs and trashed seats at St Mirren game

Claims were made on social media following the Jambos defeat to the Buddies in Paisley yesterday afternoon

HEARTS fans have turned on a minority contingent of their own group who allegedly sang sectarian songs and Tommy Robinson chants at yesterday's match against St Mirren.

The Jambos went down 2 - 0 to the Buddies in their league encounter in Paisley, however, it was a section of the team's away supporters contingent that had fans talking social media - with allegations of chanting supporting sectarian and far-right figures and views being levelled at them.

One punter even claimed that seats had been smashed up at The Simple Digital Arena.

There has been widespread slamming of the allegations on Twitter as sections of support try to purge their club of associations with the EDL founder.

Meanwhile it was alleged some sections of the Hearts support were "singing about Tommy Robinson."

David Aitchison posted on Twitter: "Fascist Hearts supporters out in numbers today - sectarianism, singing about Tommy Robinson, trashing seats.

"@JamTarts need to make it clear this is not welcome at our football club - it wasn’t saved in order to give these neo-nazis a safe home."

His post was liked and shared hundreds of times.

However some Hearts supporters hit back at the claims.

Twitter account Hearts Fans Against Racism and Sectarianism claimed that the "two guys" who tried to start up the Tommy Robinson chants were "booed" by other fans.

They said on Twitter: "It was like two guys trying to start it up. No one joined in and got roundly booed by people around.

"The chants of 'we hate jambos kickback' much louder.

"Didn't see any seat destruction but I didn't stay until the end so it may have happened."

Police Scotland confirmed that no incidents had been reported to them and no arrests had been made.

Hearts declined to comment on the matter.

And St Mirren has been approached for comment by the Scottish Sun.

We told you last week how Hearts fans took a stand against Tommy Robinson with a new anti-racism leaflet after he vowed he was “coming soon”.

The far-right activist mocked up a snap of himself in a Hearts strip on his Instagram and said he was “looking forward” to meeting the Edinburgh club’s fans.

The EDL founder shared a clip of Jambos fans chanting his name and wearing masks of his face at a boozy event.

But some Hearts fans have revealed they will not let the 35-year-old, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, “shame their club”.

The group – “working class Hearts fans united against fascism” – plan to dish out leaflets at their club’s clash against Rangers on December 2.
