I work 9-6:30 on Mon, Tue & Fri with extra half hours on Mon & Fri, 9-5 on Thursdays and there are sometimes gaps in the middle of the day to get home and pick up my son who’s at school. On wednesdays I go through my trainee’s online portfolio where he reflects on things he’s learning about GP.
It’s less than 40 hours per week, and we can choose how many 4-hour sessions we work, as we’re paid by the number of sessions we do. That’s the flexibility we have in GP land!

At least 40, but sometimes as many as 50. I worked 48.5 hours last week as we were catching up after people having difficulty getting to us due to snow the week before, and one of my GP Partners being on holiday.

About 42 hours on average. I currently work in a job where I work shifts and so it’s very variable. Some weeks I’ll have a good week and may only work 36-40 hours but other weeks, especially when I have 4 nights (like this week) I work up to 50 hours. Bring on GP working when I have more control and flexibility!

Far too many! I have mAny different jobs and am often up writing books and articles at midnight ! As a GP your working day is usually long but my life is flexible and I’m in charge of my own diary so it doesn’t matter.
