Doctor Accused of Killing Patients Seeks Insurance Coverage (1)

An Ohio physician accused of murdering several terminally ill patients sued his medical malpractice insurer in the Eastern District of Michigan for refusing to defend him in a criminal case.

William Husel was indicted on 25 counts of murder for allegedly ordering excessively high doses of fentanyl and other drugs for terminally ill patients at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio. Trinity Health Corp. and insurer Trinity Assurance Ltd. recently told Husel they won’t cover the costs of defending the criminal charges.
