The same holds true for one intrepid adventurer - a strapping young lad by the name of Himmel. Armed with his grandfather’s trusty longsword and the dream of being the strongest, he sets out on the journey of a lifetime! It is sure to be a long and dangerous road, fraught with danger! And it all starts with a simple test - reach Level 5 in the dungeon called the ‘newbie zone’ and earn the right to become a full-fledged adventurer!

However, such things get hopelessly derailed when his adolescent mind beholds an exposed chest for the first time. A fateful meeting that would inevitably lead his life in a direction he never even dreamed of!

This fiction is written, maintained and owned by Neven Iliev. It is also a participant of the WriTEr's pledge.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why this works. The main character is a horrible person/monster, the good characters you can root for die, and carfully laid plans and storylines can fall apart at a moments notice despite all the buildup.

I love it.

This story is extremely enjoyable, and I find it fun to read about the adventures of Boxxy T. Morningwood, despite its horrible nature. I love the world the author has created, and I find each new addition to it to be highly engaging and interesting. Love the story, and I can't wait to see where it goes next.

P.S. The lower character score is because some of them have little development, but that doesn't apply to all of them, and even those who are shallow are still fun to read about.

Quirky fun start but mediocre and repetitive story

Reviewed at: Gainful Employment 4

Read up to Gainful Employment 4. Good writing and a fairly original premise, but suffers severely from Laurell K. Hamilton disease with smut being forced in to the point it becomes awkward to read. What was once an interestig character development for the Xera character becomes flanderized pandering.

Powe creep is also out of control, with the premise of a stupid but lucky character surviving by acting in unexpected ways being replaced  by being too OP for anything to go wrong. Get discovered as a monster? Minion had brainwashing skills! Need a cunning plan? Minion has that! I might read more of it later, but it's gotten to be pretty repetitive so far of smut -> OP powers -> Smut -> OP powers etc.

A staggeringly beautiful gem of a book. Would highly recommend to those who enjoy LitRPG.

The Rape and toxic masculinity becomes a problem. The way the author seems to think women work is quite scary. I get that these are demons, but still.

The story itself is pretty good, which is why it's not a 1 star rating, and why I read so much of it.

Amazing start, pretty good middle, terrible end

Reviewed at: Hypocrisy 1

I just did a reread on here, that's why it's only marked as halfway (I'm stopping now because around here is where it starts to go downhill).

The first third or so is amazing, definitely one of my favorites that I've ever read. A monster MC that acts like a proper monster, without modern human morals??? 6/5, best thing ever. He also starts out pretty much totally brainless, and the writing is great.

In the middle it starts to show problems due to lack of planning (stuff pops out of nowhere, like common knowledge / places / races / history etc). The MC also gets some stuff to easily blend into civilization, which personally I'm not a huge fan of but not really a problem.

The ending though... the MC randomly tripping and dying would be 100x more satisfying than the ending we got. The author clearly got burnt out and wanted to stop writing, so he used one of the worst endings I've ever seen. Like even worse than GoT bad. It taints your memory of the story, and ruins any spinoffs. I HIGHLY recommend stopping before the last few arcs, or at least when the space thing happens (you'll know what I mean when you get to it).

Spoiler for the ending in case you have to know what kind it is:

It's all actually just a simulation, and everything in the simulation is worthless. He uploads himself and a few others to robots outside, and that's the end.

I would give it a 2 because the ending is so bad, but the beginning is so much fun I can't bring myself to go lower than a 3.

A weird classic that's partially worth reading.

Reviewed at: Afterword and Q&A

This was one of the first fictions I read on this site. Do I regret it? No. Would I do it again? No probably not.

Lots of this story was very very good in my eyes.

Spoilers as to the structure of the story ahead. I'm of the opinion that it's not important spoilers as I dont adress specific happenings, but playing it safe is always am option

The very start and the middle portion dealing with humanoid life were both incredibly interesting and I would have loved just a story about those.

Unfortunately this was not the case. You will have to forgive my shoddy memory, for not remembering details coupled with avoiding too specific of spoilers, but the portion of the story after the buff party member was REALLY bad.

I cant imagine I'm hurting the authors feelings by saying this as it was really apparent it ran into the same horny writing issues as SAO. Entire chapters just devoted to stupid sex scenes back to back with characters and ideas thrown in and out. Pretty much constantly until the middle of the story.

The middle of the story was great and very well written. It's clear the author kind of got stuck in a rut and realized it, panicked and just rapid ejected the story out of it and it's pretty not great. It's supposed to be a return to the stories roots of a mimic killing people chaotically and in interesting ways but theres no creativity to be had at such a vastly different stage of existence. As the story comes to a close it sends far far too long on the wild pointless violence and seems like the author spitefully skips over the parts that were so good about the middle. He kills off characters at random and just does not mention long time popular ones. The social networking and political landscape as well as carefully planned out leveling build and fighting strategies are just skipped over and burned down. It all just goes up in smoke.

Theres at the very very end some backtracking on that with some interesting set up and cool ideas thrown in, but it's far too short.

The story ends with probably 3/5ths enjoyable with 2/5ths not. Far too large for just one story and for some reason not split up.

And yet it was a special experience. It was a big influence on the litrpg and non human genres. It pretty much wrote the rule book on how monster stories should have their MC integrate into human society(even if it failed to read it's own instructions). And honestly the good parts were just really really good.

It was just fun

I, personally, love it.

Oh boy. Do I love myself some Yorkshire tea gold. But do you know, what goes even better together than Yorkshire tea gold and a picture of the queen?

Yes, my ladies and gentlemen.

It's EllC.

Or even SCaft.

Whatever the case, I live this fiction.

It's so fresh within the whole abyss of bland Isekai star wannabes, that one cannot but *blub* sorry... But love this series.

The characters, are what make this story so good.

The demons are so, so. Except for Bob

Bob of course is the freatest demon I ever was allowed to witness.

Fizzy showed me, how wonderful a metallic waifu can be. Jen... is Jen. What else can I say? Boxxy, well... Who wouldn't want to watch someone as cruel yet passionate, Omnipotent yet childish. Smart yet dense beyond comprehension.

I love this rabid box.

The story as is has good pacing and it never gets bland.

Gore? Without it us all would be vegetarians. So hell yeah.

Sexual content? Without sexuality

none of us eould exist. So hell yeah.

Profanity? HELL YEAH!

Did you really think I was going to ramble nonstop about this being my favourite fiction ever? And right you are, Ladies and gentlemen.

For me personally this almost equals

the holy texts of Maruyama.

Summary: I love you Exterminatus and keep giving us the shiny stuff.

And dmxcustom... Stop giving Xera those hentai Boobs.

4 sizes smaller eould look sexy. This is just obscene in a children's grave kind of way.

Also: If you are reading a story about a murder hobo and then go on complaining in the commentsection, that that's too much homicide... In the words of Mahatma Ghandi: You're kinda retarded.

I admit, that title almost made me dismiss this story as some mainstream junkie. But you definitely made something that would truly hit the books!

Purely breathtaking craziness from the go and the mind boggling brutality that will train wreck you from the start seriously derailed my foolish assumptions.

I would dish out more adjectives just to say how much this story mindfucks you but my brain cant handle it.

5/5 Grammar. Sure there was some bumps on a few chapters but we're talking about a few months old newborn here. When it finally started its own quest for subterfuge the quality of it's dialogue shot up while mentaining on a solid personality

5/5 Character. Hands down yo. I cant say anymore about that.

5/5 Story. If Boxxy caught the interest of a Primodial Chaos how could we not fall for it too. Boxxy is just too addicting.

10/5 Style. Yep. 200% whoooping percent. Without your very unique style your awesome character, the mind boggling story and the inane acronyms all across the chapters wouldnt amount to anything. You're the man bro. You could sell this. TASTYCOCK haha

Character

This story starts out very well. It gives us an unexpected main character and develops the baby-like character into something that is slightly more.

For the record, I put in over 23 hours into reading this over 3 days and read over 200 chapters fully (not skipping)

Then during the part with the elves the development dies. It was a very well planned and executed story, but once the plan ran out, the author just kept running with it. Past a certain point, the main character becomes static, just wanting shiny and tasty things for literally over 15 hours of reading/hundreds of chapters. The worldbuilding becomes far too convenient, with the reader only learning of character, races, and abilities as they become relevant to the plot, and the story bogs down. There is a litteral entire arc with thousands of words dedicated to the main character and his minions killing squishy, irrelevant mobs in a dungeon.

Don't get me wrong, it is obvious the author put work into this. The characters at least feel different from one another and the magic system is fairly well done, keeping it soft enough to introduce new abilities regularly, but hard enough to have a sense of what is going on in battle.

However, it is painfully obvious that this is one of the stories that continued because people were reading it and not because the author had a story to tell. After the first couple arcs, I can summarize the story for you. MC is faced with a new problem. Him and his gang go deal with it. He gets stronger. He goes out and finds another problem... rinse and repeat. There is no development and no sense of accomplishment. I don't care about the 1 hour worth of battle sequences in the ice dungeon because victory is inevitable and the stakes are low. We know he won't die to the unnamed squishies, so why force us to read all of that.

The first arcs are 5/5, the rest are bad and formulaic.

This story has its modest beginnings, an almost cliche beginning.

Then it expands out as the creature grows smarter and smarter until finally you have grand schemes and multiple things going on, politics escalating and everything works. Its glorious, and its well written.

Sure there's a small problem here and there, but nothing serious and nothing that can't be edited.

I absolutely love this story, and my only wish is that I have the finished version before me.

I suppose one of its turnoffs though, is the sexuality. Not really a problem as the story works it in really well, but people hear there's sex and their minds are set. However its just a part of some character's personalities, and how some characters relate to each other.

The large majority of the sexual content though is used for the comedy element.

The author may be a little bit of a deviant, but it still adds its own flavor to the story.

Humor, plot, 'plot', plot that keeps moving forwards and plot twists that you really should've seen coming, this is my favorite royalroadl fiction yet.
