01/02/2017 - Death Comes in Many Shapes 4
Style: 4.5/5
There are no major issues that I recall here. The story flows very nicely and there are no major incidents of me wondering what is going on. While I remember the plot and events in the story if I'm not bothered by some of the more technical aspects of writing I don't remember them. Worst case scenerio there may be times the story is in first person and times the story is in third person, but within each section there are no major issues. Extremely solid overall.
Story: 4/5
Again this category is quite strong. The events that happen in the story follow a certain set of logic that applies within the story. The most glaring weakness here is that there is no obvious direction the story is going. Which is just to say it's something of a Slice-of-Life story, which while not bad will be off-putting for some. Another issue is the excess amount of sex between some of the characters. It falls in line with who they are and how they have been written but it could definitely be off-putting for some.
Grammar: 5/5
As one of my own weaker areas I can't say much other than that I haven't noticed any glaring grammatical errors or spelling mistakes.
Characters: 4/5
This is something of a mixed basket. The characters themselves are well thought, written and for the most part interesting. They have their own motivations and talents and while there are a few who could stand to be fleshed out a bit more, there seems to be a lot of time to get around to it. On a more negative front the main characters thus far are a vicious monster, a masochist, a self-proclaimed violent rapist, and something of a mind-broken exhibitionist. Obviously this story isn't going to be for everyone, but if you find those character descriptions amusing or otherwise interesting there is a decent chance you'll enjoy this story.
Overall: 4.5/5
At the end of the day the story is a fairly enjoyable LitRPG story with well thought out and written characters. There are no glaring grammar or style issues and the story progress at a decent pace in entertaining and often unexpected ways. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys LitRPGs, has a slightly warped sense of humor, or is bored and looking for something to read.
This novel is good, at least the beginning is. After the beginning though, it gets stale. The beginning is interesting, but after Keira, or slightly before that, it just got stale. Not to say you can not read it, it just becomes less interesting than before. Also, there is a lot of pornographic stuff for characterisation at the beginning. If you dislike that, you should probably skip.
The Style that we write it in is superb though, the grammar does not have problems as said the story gets stale but was good, and the characters are decent
"Everybody Loves Large Chests" by Exterminatus is a dark fantasy masterpiece that held my attention from start to finish. With its unique mix of humor, intricate world-building, and morally complex characters, this book is a compelling and unforgettable read.
The story, led by the mysterious mimic Boxxy, delves into the darker side of fantasy in a way that's both engaging and thought-provoking. Exterminatus crafts a complex narrative filled with magic, monsters, and surprising twists, immersing readers in a fantastical yet believable world.
The writing is engaging and relatable, evoking a range of emotions from humor to surprise to genuine empathy. The pacing is spot on, ensuring you won't want to put the book down.
"Everybody Loves Large Chests" is a groundbreaking dark fantasy deserving of its five-star rating. If you're looking for an unconventional, humorous, and captivating adventure, this book is a must-read."
Initially i was deligthed that the title was a joke and this wasn't just some story with way too much focus on echi stuff. Then about 20-40 chapters in, the entire focus of the story shifted and suddenly everything was about sex... this made me both sad and ultimately unable to continue reading much futher :(
...stayed for the world. It took a while for me to really and truly enjoy the story, but once Keira joined up it really took off for me. The strange nihilistic theme that runs throughout the story is also great comedy, everyone trying to find meaning behind Boxxy and always falling flat. The world is also surprisingly complex, my favorite part thus far the war.
I also have a thing for large chests, so, yeah *cough*
EDIT: I'm leaving the story as of Greater Heights, ever since Keira left the plotline it just doesn't feel the same. And it feels that way from the writer. He should have wrapped it up and moved onto another story.
Love the characters, love the whole "I'm such a bloodthirsty box I need a skill in order to keep my bloody aura in check!" Box has going on. Kinda wish the whole Red Head Sexy Adventurer who could shank you messing with her wifey wasn't a facade though...it just makes fantasies and fan bases harder....
Story is pretty solid, pacing is a little wonky sometimes with chapters mostly made of fluff and the stuff of hot fantasies, and others battle and world building. You never know what to expect. Perfect!
Release schedule is pretty consistent, so no problem there. Grammar is top notch, nothing I've noticed. Really, the only thing that could possibly be wrong is the unusual obsession of the author with gay sexy women, be it demon, shapeshifter, or cat girl whose concept probably, and clearly, comes from another one of his novels no matter how much he says she isn't.
I liked how it made me think of boobs. I enjoyed thinking of boobs when I read this. The characters were interesting. It's hard to 'develop' a character that is just a wooden box but the author did a great job!
I liked a lot about this story. The concept was interesting, the characters each had their thing, and I felt that the world, for the most part, grew accordingly. I personally feel that the sexual content was unnecessary or overdone, but that's me.
I couldn't stop reading this, and got really invested in what was happening. Then it just... ended. Now I love a good 'years later' part to a good story, but that comes after the main tale is complete. And here I was ready to read that final bit of the story, and it wasn't there. The setup for the finale was made, but not capitalized on. It just skipped straight to the 'years later.' In the words of the MC, it was 'very un-tasty.'
Overall, give this work a read. Don't think too hard about it and it's an enjoyable page turner. Just be prepared for a jarring ending.
The character development is amazing, though it seems weird because of the time skips near the end.
the plot is interesting because the Mc makes his own goals, and is absolutely chaotic in a good way.
the Mc is fantastic like I mentioned before it is chaotic, also the Mc is NOT A GOOD PERSON, like at all, he can do good deeds but that cause he is pure chaos sometimes good, sometimes bad, mostly nuking places and mass offing though.
10 out of 5, highly recommended for the chests though.
If you think gratuitous amounts of sex and violence are substitute for world building, character development and plot, this is the novel for you.
