Conservation begins at home. Seneca Park Zoo has many programs to inspire the community to take action for wildlife and wild places. From cleanup events to workforce development—we’re bringing conservation efforts right into our own backyard.
The conservation power of Seneca Park Zoo comes from the animals we care for and the people they inspire. As a Zoo guest, you begin contributing to conservation science, animal welfare, & innovative programming when you walk through the front gate.Â
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style competition where cities compete against each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people.
Join two zoo naturalists for our City Nature Challenge BioBlitz nature hikes in some of Rochester’s beautiful parks. This hike will take place on April 26th from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. at Highland Park. The goal of these Bioblitz’s is to document the variety of plant, animal, and fungal species that exist in and around the City of Rochester.
