Natasha Knight is the USA Today Bestselling author of Romantic Suspense and Dark Romance Novels. She has sold over a million books and is translated into six languages. She currently lives in The Netherlands with her husband and two daughters and when she’s not writing, she’s walking in the woods listening to a book, sitting in a corner reading or off exploring the world as often as she can get away.
THE DEVIL'S BARGAIN: Is a full length, semi dark romance novel by Natasha Knight. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'
In this we meet Hawk MacLeod, he was a ruthless businessman who always gets what he wants & Melissa Doe, the girl with no past, these two were as different as chalk and cheese. She doesn't belong in his world. Where men like Hawk rule and woman are put on auction blocks to be sold to the highest bidder.
Wow, I pretty much inhaled this one!! So easy to get into, so hard to put down!!
The hero Hawk was a hard character to get a grasp on, he was a challenge to connect with. He often ran cold, but now and then as you progressed further into the story you’d see a caring side emerge, one that strove to take care of his possession, even if sometimes it was unorthodox, so it did take me a while to warm up to his character. In the end he wasn’t the hardass I pegged him to be though.
His weakness was her.
It was only ever mean't to be ONE NIGHT to clear a debt owed but a deal with the devil became so much more!!
I connected with our heroine straight off the bat, beautifully broken and damaged but stronger than she gave herself credit for. Running from a past that wanted to get its claws into her again.
I enjoyed how the author didn't incorporate a virgin into the storyline, taking that aspect ouf of the equation made it that much more special, that much more unique, that much more enjoyable. For me this was a slow burn but let me tell you it didn't take me long to fall under Hawks spell.
Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s a standalone novel and another winner from my fave author! Loved it. Liked both MCs and secondary characters. She can write such an awesome anti-hero that you can’t not love! I loved Hawk from the start but toward the end, he annoyed me a bit because of the way he treated his half-brother. I didn’t like it because he wasn’t to blame and Hawk was taking his anger out on him. Another thing, I'm wondering what happened to Liza!?! Where was she?! Was she ok?! It’s well-written, angsty and a semi-dark romance. I can’t wait to read Declan’s story and I have to say that I’m in love with that cover, so gorgeous! Overall, I really enjoyed this and hope you like it as well!
So right off the bat I have to comment on this cover. It is freaking smoking hot and I love everything about it.
As for the book itself...well it was pretty damn good as well. I always enjoy this author's writing style. It has an ease to it that makes reading her books enjoyable. The pace was perfect (apart from the ending). The plot was engaging. That said, I also thought it was underdeveloped regarding the heroine's background and the "baddie" situation. The resolution of all the plot points felt a smidge too easy and/or swept under the rug (if you will). I didn't find it particularly angsty. There was no OW or OM drama. The sex scenes were hot (some dub-consent). There were a few secondary characters I'd love to read more about. Especially Axel and Declan. And both Melissa and Hawk were likable main characters.
Last, and here is the major issue I had with this book, the ending felt SO rushed. I was at 90% and I kept thinking this must end on a cliffhanger because there were a lot things left to deal with. However, there is no cliffhanger, and I felt like there were many issues that needed more fleshing out. The baddie situation. Liza. Declan. Even the romance between Hawk and Melissa went at turbo speed in the last 10% of this book. I think a few more chapters of fleshing out would have made this book a 5-Star read for me.
All of my GR friends must think im miserable in real life with how many rant-y reviews ive written this year. I swear I'm not! I just have low tolerance for bullshit.... especially when that bullshit is in the form of an abusive relationship in the form of a 'contemporary romance novel.'
Ok, yeah, so fuck this book.
Here's the main problem with this book; the hero states to himself and the heroine that he doesnt rape, beat, or extort women because hes not that type of man.... except he does all three of those things.
The hero:
1. He claims to not buy women for sex....... only to then trick the heroine into selling herself for a night to pay back someone elses debt. He makes her get up on a stage naked in front of dozens of men only to then outbid everyone. What was the point of this?
2. He claims to not rape women...... only to then take the heroine back up to his pent house (because of course he has to have a pent house) literally GRABS HER BY THE P*SSY and then forces penetration while she is crying and begging for him to stop. He stops eventually but then claims "I dont get hard on forced sex" even though that is EXACTLY what he did 3 pages prior?!?! Am I missing somethign here?!!?
3. He claims to not beat women..... only to get insanely angry that the heroine looked at a picture that was laying on the nightstand. How does he react, you ask? He chokes her hard enough to leave bruises the next day. And in another scene he whips her with his belt while the h is a miserable mess on the floor. Stand up guy right?
He was just full of contradictions. After he would do these terrible things he would tell the heroine “I would never hurt you. Don’t you trust me?” AND SHE WOULD AGREE WITH HIM. She said she felt safe with him even though he did all that terrible stuff. Like what? Is she living in a different story than what I’m reading?!
But worst of all, he treats her like a sex toy for 99% of the book only to claim he loves her when.... you guessed it.... her life was in danger. I know, what an original concept right? WE also get the most unoriginal 'alpha ass hole greatest hits:' -Forces the heroine to shave her lady bits -Makes the heroine go on birth control -Buys her a new wardrobe -Puts a GPS tracker on her without her knowing -interfeers with her line of work -Makes her go to his work events and gets mad when another person dares to talk to her.
Sound familiar?
Onto the heroine:
What a miserable excuse for a female character. Id say 70% of the book she was either crying, sleeping, or taking a shower. Why is this a thing across most romance? Can authors not think of anything else for a main character to do besides pass out at inconvenient times??? Overall she was a pathetic excuse of a human being. The hero treats her like garbage only for her to tell him hes a good man. He did NOTHING to warrant being called a 'good guy.'
Onto the worst thing about this book: The past drama that is the main motivation for both characters.
When the HEROINE was a child she endures rape and abuse by her foster brother and is sexually shared with other men. She escapes and remains celibate for 7 years.
When the HERO was a child his daddy had a child with his mistress and gave all of his money and his mansion to the mistress when his real wife passes away. The hero is disowned, becomes a loanshark millionaire and a manwhore.
So you tell me, who's pain and suffering is worse? I'd say 99% of you would agree the heroines is far worse, right? But this author tries to make it seem like their pain and suffering is evenly matched, which is where I got really fucking angry. How fucking DARE YOU make years of rape and abuse seem as bad as getting kicked out of a mansion. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.
So when all is said and done, the hero gets his godddam mansion back and the heroine gets to marry a man who physically and sexually abused her. What a happily ever after.
*sticks up middle finger*
Safety, for anyone still reading. -No OW/OM drama -No cheating -No seperation -Heroine wasnt a virgin, but had no good sexual experiences before the hero. -It wasnt specifically stated that the H had alot of women before the h, but you can tell by his actions hes a major douche bag.

Another hit by Natasha Knight! I was expecting this book to be a lot darker than what it was, but I am not complaining. This story has some heavy subject matters but the relationship between Hawk and Melissa was beautiful. At first I didn't know what to expect or think about Hawk but as the story progressed he started showing his tender and protective side and I fell in love with him. He has a big heart and even though he can be scary and violent he's also understanding and supportive. Melissa has a horrible past and I admire her for her strength and determination to carry on. She's an amazing h and I am so happy she found her happily ever after. They both deserved to be happy so I was rooting for them from the start.
This story had it all: passion, love, romance, a little darkness and suspense. Highly recommend it.
This was such an incredible book. It had everything I liked in the right way and amount. It had a great storyline and wicked hot scenes. It’s an entertaining and spicy read. Well written, with likable characters and a surprising depth of emotion that completely sucked me into the story. Devil’s Bargain is one smokin' hot book. The sex scenes leave you needing an ice cold shower. They're probably some of the hottest I've read. So for that alone, this book gets top marks. Definitely an erotic romance worth reading!
GENRE: Dark Romance NARRATION: Dual POV BOOK DETAILS: Standalone
MY REVIEW Just like all Natasha’s books, this was hard to out down. This is not as dark as her usual reads but has elements of suspense and some pretty sensitive subject matter to keep you intrigued.
Hawk MacLeod is a cold character and often difficult to connect to, it is not until you get further into the story you begin to see the softer sides to him.
Melissa Doe is broken but so beautiful. Her character is strong and determined. She showed so much courage and despite her horrible past was still able to see the good in Hawk.
I loved this story, I loved the slow burn passion, and the mystery behind them both. Hawk and Melissa may be two very different souls, but when they are brought together they are electric.
This has been another 5 star read I just cannot get enough of Natasha Knights books!

Gah! When Natasha Knight releases a new dark romance everything stops for me. For that reason when I read the blurb to Devil's Bargain, I could not jump aboard fast enough. I absolutely loved Hawk and Melissa and thought their attraction and connection was sizzling!
When Melissa Doe meets Hawk MacLeod she has no idea her life is about to change. Agreeing to his proposition of spending one night in his bed as repayment for a debt, Melissa assumed she knew what to expect from the dangerous and ruthless business man. But what she found was that there was more to Hawk than meets the eye when one night with him is only the beginning.
OMG!! Devil's Bargain was absolutely delicious. It had the hot sexytimes we've come to expect from Natasha Knight coupled with the delicious darkness her stories always have. But what I loved more than anything was the fact that this novel was more than Knight's usual dark romance. It was emotional and showed an almost transformative characterization in the hero as he grappled with who he was, what he lost and ultimately what he wanted to regain in his future. He was the perfect balance between being ruthless and dominating while also being caring and protective. Hawk had different facets to him and it was amazing seeing him balance each one with his growing feelings and regard for Melissa!
All in all, I loved this story and felt that Devil's Bargain was another fantastic five star story by this author. It was sexy, romantic, passionate and emotional. What an amazing read! 5 stars, ~Ratula
you'll find the blurb intriguing if you like dark-ish reads with a romantic ending.
I personally, had a little bit of an issue with the capital scene in the beginning of the book, it was pretty dubious and I wasn't quite convinced that, for me, the heroine would forgive and forget the said action just because there are worst evils out there...nevertheless, the H (or somewhat anti-H, I can't quite figure him out LOL, did in fact, show another side of him towards the end, and well, it all ended happily ever after but it didn't quite reach me there...)
I literally squeed when I learned I was getting an ARC of the Devil's Bargain, and once again, Natasha Knight didn't disappoint. It's always exciting to dive into one of her books, to see how far she is going to push her characters and their emotions.
Starting out as a debt story, the Devil's Bargain evolves into a sensual and intense dark romance. The mysterious business man Hawk bargains for a night with Melissa. But will a night of her body ever be enough? "This woman, this broken thing, I’m never going to get enough of her."
With a gripping storyline and amazingly deep characters, I couldn't stop reading. Page after page, I fell in love with the hot alpha Hawk, his controlling ways and the raw traits he slowly unveiled. There is something so fascinating about damaged characters! Melissa's fierceness and vulnerabiltily offered an interesting blend, which is clearly my favorite cocktail. The fight she shows in spite of her heart-breaking and revolting childhood were amazingly handled. "The more strokes I lay down, the less she fights, the more I know she’s in real trouble."
Delightful, steamy, passionate and emotional, this is a read I highly recommend.
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!
I was over the moon to have received the review copy of this story. DB is my first read by Natasha Knight, but certainly not the last. Right from the cover reveal, she had me wrapped around her pinky finger! And she didn't disappoint in the slightest manner.
Hawk & Melissa. Two endless souls treading on horizon. With troubled past and heavy baggage, they have their own emotions to figure out and fight against. But, one night between them and the devil chose to never let her go. Hawk captured Melissa's Soul. Body. Heart. Oh Hawk! That Scottish, ruggedly handsome highlander gave me major Outlander vibes. In fact I even imagined him to be Jamie at one point of time, just to put a face to that name. He was enigmatic, charismatic and exquisitely dangerous man, with undeniable power. What was that pull that attracted him to poor ol' broken Melissa?
Melissa. Ah, what a woman! She was fierce, stubborn, strong willed, broken, tattered, a beautiful doll who survived through a horrendous past, forever on run. But one fateful meeting with Hawk and things took a turn. Needless to say, their chemistry burnt my curtains and bed sheets. Even my ovaries! Ha. Their slight touches were so shuddering. So intimidating. They were so careful around each other. When boundaries were tested, the deal was reflected. Hawk wanted to love, to take care of his beautiful broken princess but was she worth the trouble?
When your past hurdles through that thin line, it's only a matter of time until your reality becomes a far etched dream!
Recommended for readers loving ROMANTIC MYSTERY genre.
I thank the author ever so kindly for providing me with the ARC. I hope to meet you in other books, soon!
I really loved this book. I always look froward to one of Ms. Knight's books. Her books are dark but they are always just the right amount of dark and sexy, with a romance in between. They always manage to capture me, piquing my interest as to how she will make me fall in love with the dark hero. And somehow she always manages to do an amazing job with it. Her words always flow so smoothly and once I start reading, I never want to put it down. And Devil's Bargain was no exception!!
Melissa has a past, one that she is still hiding from and one that she wants to put completely behind her. But that is easier said than done. Especially when she is taken against her will and told that she will be paying off the debt of someone from her past. The payment, one night with Hawk!! That's when she realizes that maybe she is in more trouble than she thought she was. She has a choice, whether or not to go through with it, but she's not sure that there really is a choice here. One night then turns into another proposition, one month with Hawk, and for the month she is his and only his. She is not sure why he wants this new arrangement, or what it means, but for her own safety and protection she thinks that she has no choice. They both have their rules, one of them being nothing personal. But how long can that last? They both have a past that they are keeping to themselves, but at some point it will all come out, it has to right? What happens when it does? What happens when the month is over? You will have to read to find out.
I really loved this book as well as the characters. Hawk is certainly a little bit of a jerk and his world is a little dark, but I loved him. Because you see him falling for the girl that he shouldn't be falling for. He's not that guy but there is something about Melissa, and while he may be an ass sometimes, you see how much he cares for her and wants to protecter. Melissa is a strong girl who is trying to keep herself safe and run from her past as well. The chemistry and attraction between the two of them is there, whether Melissa wants to admit it or not. They were so good together.
My only issue with the book is tat the ending felt a bit rushed and I felt like part o the story was still left open. I got to a point in the book where I thought for sure this was q cliffhanger because there didn't seem like there was enough book left to tie up the story. Maybe certain things were left open for the next characters book? I guess we shall see. I also wanted a little more when it came to both of their pasts and how Hawk got where he was. But overall I loved it and I am hoping to see more of these characters in the future'.
The Devil's Bargain was a deeply emotional, dark and gritty story that I really enjoyed. Natasha Knight brings her 'A' game to this book, delivering a dark romance that readers will love. This book had stellar writing, along with a great plot and two intriguing main characters.
"This man, he's all sharp edges. It's like someone took a beast out of the wild and put him in a thousand-dollar suit thinking it would somehow tame the animal inside. Somehow contain it.
I am a big fan of Natasha Knight's writing style and this book was no exception. I liked that this story focused on the emotional elements just as much as the darker ones. It really added another layer of depth to the story. Both Melissa and Hawk had suffered so much in their pasts and were coping with it in their own ways. I loved how their interactions began with animosity and lust and slowly developed into something more. The intimate scenes were both hot and edgy, with the passion that Melissa and Hawk had for each other coming out in full force. I felt like each time they came together, it was even more intense than the last time. Knight wrote these scenes really well. I loved how the sex was the way the two of them deepened their connection without even realizing it.
"I am an animal and I'm staking my claim when I empty inside her. Melissa is mine. All f***ing mine."
I loved the way the story wrapped up; it went in a direction I wasn't expecting when I first began reading. The length of the book was perfect and the plot flowed really well. I really enjoyed the way Knight laid out the information on both characters' pasts in a way that had me wanting to know more. There were a couple of characters who I would love to read more about, so I have my fingers crossed that the author has books planned for them. All in all this was a fantastic story that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys dark romance.
I love the books I’ve read so far by this author so I couldn’t resist reading this. I’m glad I did as it’s a great read.
Melissa is a good hearted person. She must pay a debt to Hawk.. and it isn’t monetary that she must pay back.
Melissa and Hawk. Two complete opposites. The chemistry between them is off the scales hot. There was so much to Hawk that I couldn’t stop reading, I needed to know more about him.
Brilliant storyline with great characters. I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Devil's Bargain by Natasha Knight is the story of Melissa Doe and Hawk MacLeod. Hawk is harsh business man who takes what is owed to him in any form, even human form. Do to his past and present situation makes him stay had and never bending. Even when he meets Melissa he is attracted to her but he doesn't lessen his toughness for a while and treats her somewhat harshly until he can no longer stop his feelings for her. Melissa too has had a easy life, never able to get a break from what is happening to her and now she has to stay the night with Hawk to pay a debt. But even with the darkness that is her life is some brightness deep inside her that keeps her somewhat innocent. But what happens when the Devil's Bargain isn't able to end? Great Dark Read!
Um bom livro, com uma história que prendei minha atenção do começo ao fim, personagens bem escritos e uma escrita fluida e interessante. O único ponto negativo do livro foi o final ser corrido demais .
Another fantastic read by this author also phenomenal cover!! I’m kind of a cover wh**e and when I saw this cover I was hooked! Ms. Knight always has great characters and story lines and this story is no exception. I love the chemistry between Hawk and Melissa. Hawk is a powerful and dangerous man whilst Melissa is just an innocent caught up in something she has no understanding of. My heart absolutely broke for Melissa many times but I loved how she kept her innocence throughout the whole ordeal. Melissa is keeping a secret and of course Hawk must discover what it is breaking his rules of of one night only. This is an intriguing and heartbreaking book that kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole book! I highly recommend this book!!
I wasn't sure what to expect. I love captive and deals or bargains like this one so much! This wasn't a true captive story, but it still intrigued me! It was something I truly enjoy reading!
I felt so sad and angry while reading about Melissa her past it was so horrible what she went true! Hawk wasn't as bad as he thought but at one time I even has something like "noooo don't do that" but yup he did.
James was such a cutie who I loved meetingI loved the epilogue, but missed a bit more info about Liza, Sean and such things.
I would definitly recommend this to everyone who loves a little darker romance!
Phenomenal book! I fell instantly in love with Hawk and Melissa and the stories that followed them. Every emotion was pulled from me, pulling me deeper into the intricate story. Every page, I thirsted for more, every chapter, I ached for another. Terrific terrific terrific.
"He's not my prince charming and there won't be a fairy-tale ending. Not for me."
This was my first book from this author and since it continuously popped up in my recommendations, I caved and downloaded the sample. I am a big fan of the dark and twisted stuff, so most of the reasons other critical reviews gave for their dislike of this book are not the reasons I will. There were so many promising elements to this book, so many ways it could have gone to create a true page turner from start to finish. Instead, I felt like Natasha tried to include so many different things that in turn she wasn't able to give the necessary attention to any of them.....but I will get into more of my "issues" with it later.
"This man, he's all sharp edges. It's like someone took a beast out of the wild and put him in a thousand-dollar suit thinking it would somehow tame the animal inside. Somehow contain it."
Told in dual POV, this standalone is a dark and twisted tale of a woman trying to heal from a horrific past and the man who can't seem to get enough of her. It does end with a HEA, but the road getting there is very dark. Child rape/pornography (past), choking, whipping, and other sensitive situations are included.
"I want what I want and what I want is you."
Melissa Doe is a woman hiding from a past she wishes she could forget. Living a boring life in Vegas, she is taken from her home to pay a debt she does not owe. One night with the Devil himself to save her foster sister she hasn't seen in years. With her foster sister being in town, she knows it is only a matter of time before her past catches up to her. So when the Devil makes her another proposition, this time for one month, she sees it as the perfect opportunity for protection and to lay low until the threat goes away. What she doesn't expect is for Hawk to want to know more about her or for her past to threaten to spill into their arrangement.
"This is the devil's bargain," she mutters. I rub her pussy. "Are you going to come on the devil's hand, then?" I ask.
Hawk can't seem to get enough of the woman who seems so fragile. She isn't his normal type but he is drawn to her.....he has a deep need to protect her and own her. He intends to find out everything she is hiding and when he does, he is determined to make them pay. But when his own past brings him back to his homeland of Scotland, he will soon realize that the life he has worked so hard to have doesn't compare to what he left behind. And the woman he intended to get out of his system in a month? He has one last proposition for her to get their HEA.
"Because this woman, this broken thing, I'm never going to get enough of her."
So what were my issues with it: 1. The biggest issue was the overall pace and focus of the plot. The author spends so much time on unnecessary elements that she doesn't devote the time in developing the actual romance/relationship that is supposed to be the driving force of the entire story. We don't get a chance to root for or connect with them as a couple because it is never focused on in the way it needed to be. The result? By the end, it is so rushed it doesn't feel authentic in any way. Its in no way believable and it sadly takes away from what could have been a touching ending for these two. 2. Both characters leave a lot to be desired. I am in the minority of opinions here, but Melissa is the one that got under my skin and had me yelling at my book (yes I get into it sometimes) more than I have in a while. She had a horrific childhood, she should be broken to an extent. But because the author failed to give us that info earlier on, its hard to sympathize or understand her reactions. She agrees to an arrangement of ONE MILLION DOLLARS, he doesn't force her to be his or anything like that.....yet she has a problem doing a lot of the things he paid her for. Anytime she doesn't like something he wants from her, she plays the victim card without actually helping him to understand why those things aren't okay for her. As for Hawk? He wasn't by any means a fav. I don't see him as this violent monster other reviewers see him as, but he does have a "big baby" complex where he storms off anytime he is mad or upset. They both were poorly written characters, so their relationship wasn't easy to connect with.
Why are you still here? I'm a mess, Hawk." "You're not a mess, Melissa. You're mine."
Overall, it was by far not the worst book I've read. There were portions of the book that did intrigue me and keep me glued to the page. But when the support characters quite literally steal the show, something is wrong with the development of your main characters. It bums me out that the author missed the opportunity to write an emotionally gripping, beautifully dark love story and instead published one that just went too many directions that it missed the mark entirely.
"And you're the one who's good. You deserve better than what you've gotten. I'm not a good man, sweetheart," he continues. "Don't make that mistake."
Would I recommend it? For those who crave the dark and don't need to emotionally connect to any character, this is a good one with that goal in mind. But if you are like me and need the connect-ability just as much as the darkness, well you might just leave as letdown as I was. If you are on the fence, buy it.....you can always return it if its not worthy of you finishing.
"How it was meant to be from the moment we came into each other's lives. Because I realize I've always belonged to Hawk. And he's always belonged to me. And together, we are home."
Devil’s Bargain by Natasha Knight is my first ever book by her and to say that I loved and enjoyed every single word of this book is an understatement! It simply amazed me with how utterly consumed I was by this fantastic, dark, and captivating read!
We’re first introduced to our main characters, Melissa Doe and Hawk MacLeod! Both with troubled pasted and heavy baggage and emotionally, they didn’t know what they’d be up against.
Their meeting is done under unusual circumstances, but nonetheless, there is something there between them. I felt it in my bones!
After one fateful night, it sealed the deal. Hawk owned Melissa, deep down in her soul.
Hawk is the type of hero you just can’t help but love! He’s a cold, condescending jerk who is enigmatic, so sarcastic, and yet, he had this edge to him. There was something about him that intrigued me a whole lot and I could not get enough of him! As the strong progressed, I fell in love with him even more!
He is definitely a dangerous man with some serious power. A domineering man with a fierce loyal and protectiveness that I definitely did not expect!
Melissa is the type of heroine we all know and love! Sassy, brilliant, feisty, strong willed, stubborn, and wouldn’t go down without a fight. She is that woman who is constantly running, especially from her hard past, but after one night, things take a huge turn.
Beautifully broken and damaged, yet so strong. I couldn’t love our heroine anymore than I did! I was in love!!
I cannot stress how much I loved how just one night changed everything. I loved how a deal with the Devil became so much more!!
Their push and pull had me. IT HAD ME!!
The slow burn and sizzling desire between them had me craving those small touches, burning for their chemistry, and thrilled when the boundaries between them were tested! And let me tell you, the dubious consent had me hot and bothered!
What I was especially surprised, thrilled, and loving was the emotions this author was able to evoke out of me while I was reading! Having this be my first book by this author, I hadn’t known what to expect.
And yet, Knight blew my mind with The Devil’s Bargain and I seriously cannot wait to see what she has coming up next! The secondary characters truly captured my interest, and with that, I’m hoping we get something for them, something more. I’d definitely read it!
All in all, Natasha Knight’s writing is superb, utterly captivating! Her talent knows no bounds! She was able to bring the story, the plot, the world, the characters to life and devouring this read was so easy for me because she has me completely hooked with Hawk and Melissa! I’m hoping we get to visit them again because I need more of them!
“There are reasons why people do things and you don’t know anything about mine.”
Devil’s Bargain is the story of Hawk and Mellissa Doe. They meet under unusual circumstance and their love is not your typical romance story.
Our Hero Hawk: At first he is a condescending and quite frankly a sarcastic jerk. He has a past thats he’s hiding from Melissa. He is possessive, controlling and demanding. I loved how fiercely protective he was of our h. We get to experience the character growth of Hawk, how he was cold and ruthless with Melissa at the beginning and completely devoted to her by the end of the book.
Our heroine Melissa: She is strong and fights him every step of the way.
* She’s paying for her “family” mistakes and she finds herself in a horrible predicament but still finds the strength to fight.
* She has a mysterious and painful past that she is running away from.
* I love how the author didn’t make her meek and submissive because of her past. On the contrary she was tough and sarcastic.
They made an arrangement both for different reasons. Hawk for desire and Melissa out of necessity. Melissa is running from a painful past that hunts her and Hawk is set on revenge. They both found love and forgiveness. I was so intrigued with this story and I couldn’t put the book down! I needed to know what was going to happen next!
❤️Romance: Slow burn.
* Hate before love. * They have a mutual understanding but everything goes to hell when they start falling for each other. * Hawk has never felt anything like the attraction he feels for her and Melissa has never known true love.
Right away I did not want to like Hawk but as the story progressed more and more I saw bits of him that showed there was more buried under the thick wall of being a cold and unfeeling asshole. Melissa and her story broke my heart but she is a strong woman who didn't let what she went through break her. Even after everything she is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she cares about even if they don't deserve it. She is so kind and caring that you can't help but to want to see her get her happy ending. Unfortunately that road isn't a smooth one for sure.
Is she a slowly putting the pieces together still? Yeah but she isn't one to give up. Could Hawk destroy all her hard work? For sure. Could her past put her in jeopardy?? Hell yeah, but Hawk knows that something is up and isn't about to let anything happen to her.
Natasha did such a great job once again with Hawk and Melissa's story. Did I want more from this couple?? Heck yeah but I fell in love for these two so it may be just the case of never getting enough. This book was chock full of emotions and kept me totally sucked in. I had to know how it would all play out. I was seriously getting really annoyed when interrupted because this book is one of those you will not want to put down. Now I want to get my hands on his brother's story! Devil's Bargain is a MUST read!!!
