Why You Practice Self-Development

Posted By: Randy GageApril 22, 2019

Last post I questioned what percentage of people have enough self-awareness to work on their personal development vs. those who are oblivious.  Not sure we’ll ever know the number for certain, but one thing I am sure of….

The people who practice self-development are markedly improved in health, happiness, and overall prosperity.  Probably for lots and lots of reasons.  But here’s one worth thinking about.

One of the most helpful and positive benefits of self-awareness is that it gives you the ability to separate your sense of self – from the crazy, chaotic and (if you’re like me) chronically dissatisfied mind.

Think back to when we discussed Divine Discontent.  It is a state of being grateful and appreciative of what you possess, yet still yearning to do, have, and become more.  In my case, I am my toughest critic.  (And I’d wager a lot of you are your toughest critic too.)  Without a self-development program, it’s easy to jump the track and fall into a negative state.  You have to be conscious enough to separate your true self, from bad habits or mistakes you make. You took those actions, but they are not you.

When you have self-awareness, work on yourself, and know the reason why you’re working on yourself – you're on your way to manifesting a great life.

  1. Love your blog Randy, keep it up! Always interesting to read your posts. I've learned SO MUCH from you through all sorts of your content, and I'm very grateful that people like you exist. I'm 26, and I've got into self-development when I was 20. Since then, I never could see the world as I did before... There's no day that I don't read or watch something that helps me become a better me than I was yesterday.
