Celtic star Leigh Griffiths taking ‘no time off’ as he steps up comeback ahead of pre-season

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is working hard in the gym as he prepares for pre-season training.

The Celtic star has taken a complete break from football since December in order to deal with personal issues.

But he took steps towards his comback earlier this month as Neil Lennon revealed the striker had been doing conditioning work.

And after the Hoops' Scottish Cup Final victory on Saturday, Griffiths confirmed he would return to first-team training in pre-season.

But while his team-mates have jetted out on their holidays after a long campaign, Griffiths is spending time in Lennoxtown gym.

Posting a short video of himself standing in front of various weights, he captioned the clip: "No time off."

Griffiths has been one of Celtic's most vital players since joining the club back in 2014.

The striker has scored 104 goals in 202 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops, winning six league titles, four league cups and three Scottish Cups in the process.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke will also be happy to hear that Griffiths plans to return to action.

He will be almost certain to call the 28-year-old back into the national team, as long as his performances merit his inclusion.
