Brown, Tierney and Simunovic sit out training as Celtic sweat on Scottish Cup Final fitness

The key trio weren't involved with Neil Lennon's first-team squad this morning as the Bhoys worked ahead of Saturday's clash against Hearts

CELTIC trio Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney and Jozo Simunovic missed training today – throwing their Scottish Cup Final places into doubt.

SunSport Online can reveal the key trio weren’t involved with the first-team squad today as Neil Lennon’s side were put through their paces ahead of Saturday’s showpiece final at Hampden.

Hoops skipper Broony has been struggling with a toe injury, while Kieran Tierney is battling against a double hernia.

It’s unclear why Simunovic wasn’t involved, although the Croatian stopper has a history of knee injuries.

The news will worry Celtic fans who are desperate to see the champions clinch an unprecedented treble Treble.

Brown declared during last weekend’s title-winning celebrations that he was confident of making the showdown.

Left-back KT – pencilled to go under the knife next week – also vowed to fight through the pain barrier.

The 21-year-old, who is a target for Arsenal and Napoli, said: “It’s been absolute agony.

“But I know what I’ve got and I know there’s not much I can do until I get my op. It’s just about guiding through it until then.

“I’m booked in for surgery a few days after the Final and it will be good to get it resolved.

“The plan is to play 90 minutes and I’m hoping I can get through it. I’ve trained the last few days, so I should be fine.

“I get pain pretty much all the time. It’s sore when I wake up and sore moving about.

“People say it gets a bit better once you’ve warmed up, but I’ve yet to feel that way! I know what it is, I know how to deal with it and cope with it.

“I’ve trained the last few days, and they’ve been full sessions and they’ve been hard sessions. That gives me confidence going into the game.”

But the pair, along with in-form centre-half Simunovic were absent this morning.
