V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it. When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
Miz Mason is by FAR my favorite serial killer author. Her books are always well written and well paced. Her plots are always engaging and twisted. Her anti heroes are always psychos yet strangely lovable at the same time. (lol) Her heroines are always strong and likable. The sex is always hot. There is never any OW drama, and they always leave me wanting her next book ASAP.
And all the above was true for this book as well. It was a well-crafted and gripping story. Both main characters were well developed and intriguing. It was full of twists and turns (the ending took me completely by surprise). I loved seeing cameos of the "heroes" from previous books, and OMG I cannot WAIT for Arson's book AND the DARK HORSEMEN series. Last, it was all wrapped up in a satisfying ending.
So yea...I loved it and I can't recommend this author highly enough.
Love this author's serial killer romances and as usual, this one didn't disappoint. This one is all about Callum and Giselle and their rocky road to there own personal happy ever after. This is both dark and delightful at the same time and I really did enjoy myself. These books are my guilty pleasure and I always usually read them in one sitting and this one was no exception. Hot and heavy throughout this addictive read certainly delivers on all fronts. Callum's backstory was absolutely heartbreaking and Giselle's path was no walk in the park either though she definitely didn't have it quite as severe as him. Both their interlocking journeys have shaped the individuals they have evolved into. The first half of this we get to explore Giselle and her past and the second part here its Callum's turn to take the stage. Also really appreciated how past characters made brief appearances here it was great to catch up. This really was an easy read that as usual, I devoured. I recommend this series so highly every book released is my new favourite. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Callum's Hell.
I have been obsessed with V.F. Mason's dark serial killer series for the longest time as the men are always dangerous and obsessive about the ones they love. I loved Callum and Giselle's story as it was consuming, edgy and had blisteringly hot sexy times that almost singed my fingers right off the pages! I could not get enough!
Without giving away any spoilers Callum's Hell was a dark and emotionally twisty story. Told through interchanging flashbacks from past to present, we learn the story of Callum McRae and why he is a remorseless killer who has a longterm agenda with Giselle and their future.
There were times I got lost in some inconsistencies in the story but overall this was an amazing story where the passion between Callum and Giselle was almost visceral. I felt their connection and loved seeing how she became his weakness in a world where he did not allow himself to be weak. I also loved being around the familiar faces of Callum's associates. I seriously can not wait for Arson and the Four Dark Horsemen's respective novels!! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
It blew my mind!! Wow ... what a book, hero and heroine. The slow unraveling of mystery and the anticipation of reading what will happen next was fantastic. My heart broke for all the abuse Callum suffered for his first 14 years! I didn’t feel any remorse for those who died by his hand. They deserved it. There are triggers in the book- just a warning. Hero was a loner but how his ‘friends’ came for him in the last made me swoon. So many alphas in one frame. Heroine was such a strong lady. She sacrificed so much for those who she loved. I’m glad she met hero. Throughout the book I tried guessing the backstory but in vain. At last when the secrets were revealed it was still a surprise. Epilogue was poetical. I loved that Hades is finally at peace and content with his persephone. Recommended and safe.
A solid 4 stars ! V.F. Mason is a gifted storyteller with a talent for creating amazing characters. Serial killers you'll love to know and stories that will surprise you in the best of ways.
"In this twisted myth of his creation, no one got what they wanted, and that's probably the most tragic story of all. "
I'm in the state of shook right now. It's two in the morning and I just finished Callum's Hell by V.F. Mason. It was such a gripping romantic thriller that will capture readers in an intricate web of lies and deception. From the very first page, I was hooked!
Callum's Hell is not a love story. But a story of possession and control. A king takes queen. The devil himself will get what he desires most, and that is Giselle. His Persephone.
Callum Macrae is a monster. A sinner of all of evil. He is not a good man, but he will do whatever it takes to have the woman he desires most in his arms.
"Callum Macrae. Wolf in sheep's clothes? More like the devil himself.
Betrayal. . . Blood. . . Sex. . .
Callum & Giselle are a force to be reckoned with. This book was mind-boggling. A gripping angsty romance with a touch of darkness.
"I flick my fingers and knock two pawns from the chessboard, ready to strike again. By the time this is done, there will be no one but the queen left standing."
You are not ready for this book y'all. V.F. Mason is going to give you a run for your money. I cannot recommend this one enough.
Giselle Walker is mine. My beautiful Persephone, who is yet to discover she'll rule the underworld with Hades.
B L U R B :
She knew no chaos...until I claimed her.
She was a florist.
He was a serial killer.
She created beauty.
He created chaos.
She belonged to nature.
He belonged to the underworld.
She was an angel.
He was the devil.
She wanted to escape.
He trapped her instead.
They played a dangerous game with their lives at stake.
Where the winner took it all and the loser burned in hell.
❝We are like two lost souls, drifting in this world, not belonging to anyone, too afraid to give our love freely without facing the consequences.❞
V.F. Mason is one of my go-to authors when my brain needs some darkish readings. If you haven’t read her and falling in love with the villain of the story is your thing, give her a chance.
I don’t like reading books that constantly mention characters from other books by the author or the same thing over and over. It’s annoying to me. This was boring for me. I skipped thru a lot of the stuff in it.
Have you ever wanted to kick your own arse and pat yourself on the back at the same time??
I have a handful of times and I’m adding another one to that list because I cannot believe I waited this long to read a book by VF Mason. I’ve seen her other books and waffled, but never took the plunge...until now and this book had everything my dark and deviant heart could desire and I want more.
First off..Callum and Giselle, I adored these two. I wanted to hug them while Gibbs smacking some sense into them. They are both survivors - in their own ways - and are good people, even if one’s goodness is much more black than white and when push comes to shove they do what needs to be done. As for their journey...it’s all kinds of chaotic, but the connection between them is nuclear and in the end they are the only ones who could give the other the love they both only ever dreamed about.
As I said at the start, this is my first read by the author, but most definitely not the last. I was hooked from the start and devoured all the words. The twists and turns were all kinds of dark and fucked up, but they made sense to me in the end. I think I should put here that the triggers are intense so, even I cringed and I can handle most things, you are warned. And then there are are supporting cast of characters. OMG I need more on ALL OF THEM. Well, okay not ALL, but the ones that matter...I just need more. Thankfully some have books out already *BSEG* so I will get my fix, but there are a bunch of others I cannot wait to get my hands on...so let the stal- *coughcough* following begin because I’m hooked!
Note: This can be read as a stand-alone

This is not going to work out! This book is ridiculous I’m sorry. Giselle finding out her fiancé is cheating on her in the first chapter is so unoriginal and her realizing she never loved him is also something I’ve seen done so many times. Callum is NOT SCARY which the author is trying to show in every other chapter. I DID NOT feel any of the chemistry between Callum and Giselle.... didn’t really like any of the characters too... The only thing I liked was the prologue.

This action-packed romance by one of my favourite authors in this genre never fails to disappoint. A book where the antagonist becomes the protagonist and where revenge is the main dish of the day served cold.
Giselle Walker is your modern-day Cinderella, trapped in her wealthy family’s shenanigans. She was supposed to be married to Kevin but her evil younger sister snatches her fiancé right under her eyes. When she has no choice but to go along with her grandfather’s draconian orders, someone who’s been watching her from a distance makes his move. Is he the Prince Charming to her Cinderella or is he the one who will make her suffer even more?
Callum MacRae is a successful business entrepreneur who looks like he couldn’t ask for more in life. However, he has a dark and horrific past. Emotionally and physically scarred from his childhood nightmares, he plans the most dramatic revenge on those who he thinks wronged him. His other persona as Hades the serial killer has earned him a fearsome reputation, but where does he draw the line when it comes to the woman who has stirred this unknown and strange feeling from him?
This dark romance is narrated in dual points of view, interspersed with Callum’s traumatic childhood memories (this might cause triggers to some readers so just to warn you) and Giselle’s younger years. The author successfully narrates a tale of revenge and steamy romance with a seamless and tight plot. Callum’s character development is noteworthy, his early memories as a young helpless victim to a survivor who becomes a serial killer; from a child who learned to stave off his emotions to a grown man who slowly regains something more important than revenge. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts.
Mason surely can write super hot love scenes and at the same time, vividly narrates torture scenes littered with blood and gore and makes you take it all in stride.
If you are familiar with this author’s other books/series, some of the memorable characters like Micaden, Lachlan, Arson etc. make a special appearance in this book. If there is one author who can make you fangirl for a serial killer and fall for his ruthless charm, V.F. Mason can turn you. In the mood for a fast-paced, romantic thriller with an ensemble of sexy serial killers that can potentially set your knickers on fire? Then this is the perfect book for you. Highly recommended!
The description of this book doesn’t mention anything about it being part of a series, yet it felt as though I was missing a large portion of the back story here. This is partly because there are a number of secondary characters (Jaxon, Micaden, Don, Remi, Octavius, Killian, Duncan, Douglas, [I figured out who Santiago, Arson, Sociopath and Luke were, but still not sure about the whole four horsemen thing]) that make appearances, and the story is written as though you are supposed to already know who these people are. Since I did not, this was distracting and took away from the story. I actually stopped reading and went to the author’s website to see if maybe I missed something and was reading this book out of order.
There may be some spoilerish comments in this review, so continue at your own risk.
The beginning of the book was okay. I liked Callum and Giselle well enough and was interested to see how Callum would win her heart. A few scenes were a little OTT, but nothing too bad. Close to the middle however, Giselle starts trying to act all sexy and seductive. This resulted in cheesy dialogue and it felt as if someone else was writing the story. Once Giselle discovers that Callum is a serial killer, her character changes even more and became more annoying and unbelievable. She was constantly taunting Callum and turned into a bratty, whiney woman. I mean, how many women do you know who would act that way when discovering the man they love was a serial killer? She discovered and watched videos of him killing people, and she acted more angry than scared and purposely aggravated him.
At the end, when it was finally explained why Callum wanted his revenge and about the identity of the real mother(s)/father(s), the explanation was so confusing I’m still not sure who was who. I re-read parts of it several times and still wasn’t clear what the author was trying to say. Martina’s ramblings didn’t make any sense at all. At one point Callum calls the same person "Mom" as Giselle calls "Mommy". Which was it? The rescue scene was eye rolling. How convenient the vehicle was bulletproof and one of the men just happened to be a medic.
Sadly, I obviously didn’t care for this book. It took too long to find out why Callum went after Giselle in the first place. That was the whole reason behind the story and when it was finally revealed, it was not told in a clear way that made sense. The only part that was clear was that Callum never intended to fall for Giselle or hurt her, but he did. Additionally, I’m all for using other characters from other books. It’s nice to see old faces and catch up. However there needs to be some kind of explanation as to who they are, or at least add them in a way where it doesn’t feel as though the reader is missing information since not all readers have read all books by the author. (Just my personally opinion and obviously my opinion will differ from other readers.)
No one writes serial killer romances like V.F. Mason. I’ve loved every book as much as the last..maybe more. Callum..such a tortured soul. Giselle was his light. Their story was filled with so much pain but love did conquer all. I cannot wait for Arson’s book and ...eeekkk Four Dark Horsemen series! Every she writes is a MUST READ! ~BREAKDOWN OF RATINGS~

Callum's Hell by VF Mason is one serious mindblowing suspenseful romance read; one that even after I read it, had me questioning what I had read and had me in serious book withdrawals. I don't want to give much away but OMG , this isn't a love story but so much more!!! Its a case of pain, possession, and huge amounts of control. Callum is coming for his queen Giselle. Did anyone think it would be simple for him to just go about "getting " her? Nu uh... theirs was a completely complex and torturous situation but trust me, his feelings for her were quite Obsessive. The King must get his Queen or the kingdom will be razed to the ground. This is a love story even though it didn't start out that way. It's filled with mind games, heartbreak, secrets, drama, angst, twists/turns, action and yes- and an epic climax. I enjoyed the characters, amazing plot and the chemistry between Callum and Giselle. Now I'm super excited for Arson's upcoming book!!!!
I have enjoyed all of this author’s books and Callum’s Hell is no different. This author is so talented in how she makes the reader fall in love with a serial killer. Callum is damaged. His past is heartbreaking and will leave you teary-eyed and/or wanting to give him a big hug. He is calculating in his plan for revenge and his feelings towards Giselle are borderline obsessive. This author has created a strong, sexy, well-developed hero that even with all of his flaws, I loved. Giselle is a likable, well-developed heroine as well. At first I wasn’t too sure about her given her initial reaction to one of her sister’s antics at the very beginning, but I she became a stronger character as the book progressed. There were parts of her story that made me really feel for her. Callum’s Hell is a dark romantic suspense with a unique storyline that will suck you in right from the beginning. It is fast-paced and full of secrets, action, and twists and turns. Trigger warning: there is child abuse in this book but I wouldn’t say it is too graphic. If you liked this author’s previous books or you like dark romances, then you will enjoy Callum’s Hell. I am really looking forward to this author’s next book - Arson’s story! I received Callum’s Hell for free.
I'm sorry to say I did not like this one. The two stars are for Callum.. my heart broke for his past. However I did not like Giselle and their romance. It was not believable and the revenge was not justified. I felt no sparks or chemistry between them. I had high hopes after seeing all these 4/5 stars reviews. I love this author's books, I read Santiago's story two weeks ago but it was not comparable at all.. on any level.
Amount of sex 4 / 5 How explicit is the sex scenes 4 / 5 Story 5 / 5 Overall: 5 / 5
Wow! That was incredible!
Callum’s Hell is a suspenseful, dark romance that tells the story of Callum and Giselle. Their story was intense, emotional, suspenseful, and twisted. Some parts were difficult to read at times, but I did feel that it was all very well written, even the sensitive parts.
I became absolutely captivated trying to figure out all of the puzzle pieces. Everything was explained in the end, but their road to happily ever after was definitely a long bumpy road! I know I’m kind of being vague, but I don’t want to go into too much detail. I believe this is best read without knowing any spoilers.
I enjoyed seeing several characters from V.F. Mason’s other books. We also learn a bit about Arsen, and I can’t wait for his story, which is expected to be released this coming summer.

First of all, have you guys seen this cover? So freaking hot! And the blurb? Completely enticing!
This is my first time checking out VF Mason and after reading Callum's Hell, I am trying to figure out where she has been all of my life! The books that freaking good guys.
Brace yourself because this is not a romance novel, this is possession and ownership and acknowledging that there are some truly horrible people out there in the world and both of our main characters have been victims of these horrible people.
Callum has his toes dipped into quite a few waters and is well know as both a businessman and also as a ruthless killer, but is there a method to his madness? He knows the darkness in him craves blood and justice and is not trying to change any of that.
Giselle is pretty much the complete opposite of Callum and I know that they say opposite's attract, but that has never been more true than in this case. She is essentially the very good girl that every parent wishes that they had and the one that others envy because she does not have to try to be good.
This blurb gives absolutely none of the story line away and I am so freaking happy about that. I went in to this book basically knowing the above information- Callum is bad, Giselle is good. I want it to be the same for you if you have not read it yet. (Which if you have not, WHY NOT?)
This book had an amazing story line that sucked you in as if you were right there with them and seeing what is going down, which is a freaking lot. The author created an amazing world which was not just believable, but was absolutely right.
I absolutely give this book 5 outta 5 stars because if you like dark romances, you will freaking LOVE this book. Not only was it really freaking steamy, but it was also a bit psychological, which I love!
PS: I received this book as an arc but am voluntarily reviewing it!
This book pulled me in from the very start. It’s raw,it’s gritty and extremely intense. I loved Callum from the start. Yes he’s a serial killer. Yes is vicious. But I didn’t care. His story is twisted and complicated. He’s also a man with morals. You may think it’s a contradiction considering he’s a ruthless killer. But you need to read his story to understand. Callum is a very successful businessman and lacks for nothing. Except his obsession. Giselle. Giselle,I loved that girl so hard. She’s so loyal. So selfless. So forgiving. All at the expense of herself. Callum and Giselle together are explosive! There is an undeniable chemistry between them. Everything between them sizzles. Their flirting. Their disagreements. It’s all a tightrope of feelings. I loved this story. It’s extremely emotional. It’s extremely heartbreaking. In some parts of the book I was silently crying and in other parts I was out right bawling. You might be thinking why would I love the book that caused me so many tears. Well because it’s also about finding peace. It’s about finding some goodness where there was only darkness. It’s about finding that one person in the world who will love another unconditionally. Ms. Mason deals an outstanding story,an outstanding plot and remarkable characters. I love how she brings in previous characters from other books but they still tie in perfectly with this one. The way she wrote and delivered Callum’s Hell it was exceptional. That jaw dropping twist that in no way did I see that coming was superb! I can’t wait to read Arson’s story. I don’t know how she is going to top Callum’s story. But with how talented an author she is I have no doubt it’s going to be just as phenomenal.
I think I say this with each new addition to our happy little serial killer family but Callum quite possibly has stolen my heart!
Callum swore that one day he would have his revenge. Those who tormented him forgot him, left him to die, they would pay tenfold for their crimes against him. How do I even describe Callum? A tormented soul forever scarred physically and emotionally from the traumas of his past. Angry. Vengeful. Obsessed. Lost. Callum for me was very multi-faceted. Unlike the others, his target was acquired through no fault of her own. She was a light that shown brightly next to his darkness. His need for her became an obsession and if there is one thing about Callum that is a given - He always gets what he wants - and he wants is his wild orchid.
Giselle is the definition of kind, sweet, forgiving and so full of light. She has been through the fires of hell and still occasionally has to douse herself in its burning embers to protect the ones she loves. When a sexy stranger offers her the chance to fulfill one of her dreams she jumps on it. Who wouldn't her family was the picture perfect example of hell on earth. I will admit as their skeletons began tumbling from the closet I was shocked as h-e-double hockey sticks! Seriously twisted surprises.
I don't want to give anything away because honestly, this is one read that will pull you to the edge of your sanity and leave you dangling with nothing but a silk thread to keep you from falling over the edge.
This author has a way with words. How does she make me fall in love with a group of serial killers, I have no f’in clue!
This book is dedicated to Callum. Callum (like all the other guys in the underworld stories) has massively fucked up past. Callum broke my heart. Callum healed my heart, damn him. The world let down Callum AND Giselle. But Callum will get them ALL back..
“Giselle can’t do anything but be a monster’s lover, even if it will kill every part of her soul.”
This book is wonderful. As per the usual, I am not sure if I maybe am missing this intellectual part in my brain but early on in these books I get a little confused or maybe discombobulated, but once I get my bearings I am good to go. There is so much to take in. So much horror and hurt. I shed tears. I laughed. I got angry. Once the story starts to unfold and you are let in, you will not be able to let go. I became obsessed.
I love this author and the way she can translate from the intelligent psychos. This will definitely have triggers and something’s may make your stomach flip but in the end it worked out. Even Hades agrees.
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
SHe knew no chaos....until I claimed her. She was a florist. He was a serial killer. She created beauty. He created chaos. She belonged to nature. He belonged to the underworld. She was an angel. This is the story of Callum and Giselle. He is a serial killer and she has the ability to grow the most amazing flowers. However her life is not like i t may appear on the outside. She lost her mom at a young age and was sent to live with her grandfather who is horrible. However she has not idea that she attracted the attention of a serial killer. These two have some amazing chemistry when the run into each other or he offers her a job. I do not want to give anything away. I went into the book blind. I didn't read the description. I don't need to. V.F. Mason is a must read and I always know that whatever the story is it is going to be amazing. Nobody writes a serial killer book like V.F. Mason.
