Oyebamiji Emmanuel Aanuoluwapo is a Registered Dietitian presently with University College Hospital, Ibadan Nigeria.He is a member of Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Association of Nigeria Dietitians, Nutrition Society(UK),International Society of Immunonutrition and World Public Nutrition Association.

How have you utilized your gathered experience from different areas of nutrition into clinical settings?

As we all know that nutrition is individualistic bring community and public health nutrition into clinical settings was easy because I being able to identify the major causes of diseases that is in need of medical nutrition therapy which is majorly lifestyle modifications therapy.

What would you say is your favorite thing about your current work ?

One of the things that my mentor in Dietetics trained me to always do is not to leave your clients/patients in that moody situation that surrounded them while still within our facility. In summary I like to meet I like to meet patients and encourage them on lifestyle modification which will help in achieving the awaiting result of good health.

How can intending RDNs dive into clinical setting?

(smile) Intending RDNs firstly need to identify their call, though the pay is not encouraging but your passion will put your passion will but food on your table, Intending RDNs need to create avenue for themselves. Don't wait for monthly pament, create a space for yourself within your community then to the outermost part of the Earth. And also academic progree is needed then if the new RDs can go tech, app development e.t.c different clinic will look out for such.

What trends have you noticed in clinical dietetics?

(laughed) Female profession... But trend is changing right now and now we're having RDs going into research for development of the career.

What's your philosophy on nutrition when it comes to helping patient to achieve their dietary goal?

 You can only help a patient who is aware s/he sick

Could you let us know some of the foods you always have around the house?

Of course Rice, and Amala Dudu and fruits and vegetables.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced as a clinical dietitian and what advice would you give in terms of what you've learnt from it ?

(Smiles) you know this mentality of this how we have been doing it... the lesson learnt from it is that if you are to change a situation, show evidence of where it has worked out earlier.
