Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum death: WWE superstar Paige leads tributes to ‘lovely guy’

TRIBUTES have flooded in to tragic Scots wrestling icon Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum.

The Insane Championship Wrestling star’s death has shocked the wrestling community after he passed away suddenly at the age of 36.

The ICW world heavyweight champion, from Ayr, has been described as a “lovely guy”, while he has also been praised for his impact on the UK wrestling scene.

WWE superstar Paige led the tributes to Adrian with a poignant post on social media.

She said: “Breaks my heart. RIP my friend. You were always so wonderful to me and I’ll be forever grateful that I knew you. Give Trav a big hug from me.”

Still Game’s Greg Hemphill said: “Heartbroken for the whole wrestling family tonight. What a talent and what a lovely guy. We will be sorely missed.”

Fellow ICW star and actor Grado hailed Adrian as his “brother”.

He said: “Love you brother. The Champ. RIP @lionheart – we will never ever forget you. Thank you for everything you done for the British wrestling scene… but more importantly for being our pal.”

Scots DJ Robin Galloway expressed his sadness over the news as he posted: “Terribly sad news. A more lovely guy you couldn’t meet. Thoughts with family #RIPLionheart.”

Radio presenter Ewen Cameron said: “My deepest sympathies to the family & friends of Lionheart. The champion wrestler will be missed by so many & my thoughts are with my good friend @gradowrestling & all the @InsaneChampWres community.”

ICW owner Mark Dallas said: “Love you playa. Forever our champion.”

Adrian’s death comes months after he battled back from a broken neck to claim the title in front of thousands of people at Glasgow’s SSE hydro last year.
