Family of Aston Villa fan ‘murdered’ in Edinburgh pay tribute to ‘loving family man’

THE family of a tragic electrician say their loss is “immeasurable” after he was allegedly murdered in Edinburgh.

Andy McCarron, 49, was found seriously injured outside Edinburgh City Social Club following an alleged disturbance in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was rushed to hospital but passed away a short time later.

And his loved ones have now paid a heartfelt tribute to Andy, who was a massive Aston Villa fan, describing him as a “loving family man”.

A family statement said: “Andrew was a loving family man, a kind soul and an Aston Villa fan through and through, who was sadly taken away from us on Sunday 21st July.

"He will be dearly missed by his parents, siblings, children, family and friends.

"The loss of our beloved Andrew is immeasurable, but so also, is the love he left behind.

"Rest in Peace, Andrew.

"We would like to request that we now be left in private to grieve."

We told how emergency services were called to Lochend Road South following an alleged incident around 12.15am.

Andy’s stunned employer David Love paid tribute to him on Facebook, calling him a “true gentlemen”.

He said: "I received a devastating phone call this morning. My good friend and irreplaceable employee Andy McCarron died last night.

"He was a true gentleman. RIP Andy."

Detectives confirmed that a 49-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with the death.

He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
