Southern Bride #2

Delicate Promises

Rate this book
At eighteen-years-old, I made a promise with my best friend in high school. If neither one of us were married by age thirty-two, we would marry each other. Now Miles Warner is back in town and wants to cash in on that promise we made all those years ago.

The fact that Miles is still unmarried and single baffles me. The young man I remembered from high school has grown into one of the most handsome men I’ve ever laid eyes on. And he refuses to take no for an answer. You see, he needs a bride, and I’m his last resort. Romantic, isn’t it?

Well, no thank you. That is not going to happen.

At least that’s what I keep telling myself. But as the days pass by and Miles settles back into life in our hometown, I find myself falling head over heels in love with him. Again.

What is the lesson I’ve learned, you ask?

Never make a promise you don’t intend to keep.

Good story.
Best friends to lovers troupe.
During separation both with others.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Small other woman drama with offers Hero could have taken up, other man drama in memory of man from her past that proposed.
HEA.

Miles have a jealous side? No..not him he just hates when his ego is bruised:
"slamming on the brakes, I pulled my truck over to the side of the road. “Miles! What in the h**l are you doing now?”
“Who has a bigger ***k than me?”
I liked this book, I loved Miles even though the man was a complete idiot at times.

I’m a sucker for a romance story that has been years in the making, especially one that started with a promise between two best friends and ended, albeit after years apart and a litany of missteps, with an opportunity of forever. And while nothing seemed to go as planned, not the amount of time Miles spent away from his hometown and the love of his life or the way he couldn’t seem to express his feelings in a way that would make Kynslee believe in his love and trust that he would never leave her again, in their heart of hearts, they were fated to be together, to make a go at a life together that no-one else could given one another.

Because readers are privy to the reasons behind Miles’ decision to remain away from his hometown for an additional five years, we know his true feelings for Kynslee. But she doesn’t know what’s in Miles’ heart because he seems to suffer from foot in mouth disease anytime he tries to prove how much she owns his heart.

Miles’ reasons for wanting to marry Kynslee go way beyond their adolescent promise to each other and her being his last resort is not something that holds credence, but, once again, Kynslee only goes off of all the wrong things he says to her and the pain that she’s carried since Miles first left for the Marines.

I get Kynslee’s bitterness and her belief that Miles doesn’t truly want to marry her because he loves her, and I can’t say that I blame her for distrusting him, for questioning his motives, for worrying that he’d up and leave her again, but once she let go of some of her pain and fears, she saw Miles for who he truly is and what he truly wants, which made my frustration over their antics a little more tolerable, even if there were plenty of times I wanted to throttle one or both of them.

Second chance romances are some of my absolute favorites because there’s a history between the characters and a foundation that can help heal the heartache experienced. Miles and Kynslee may have needed to work for their happily ever after, but they understood it would be worth it in the end if they could overcome their issues and make their delicate promise all those years ago, a reality.

5 Star Review Delicate Promises (Southern Bride #2) by Kelly Elliott

This was one of those books I wanted to take slowly to savour the story and yet I found myself riveted to the book and kept on reading, saying to myself “just one more chapter” well into the night. This was a great addition to Ms. Elliott’s latest Southern Bride series and I am looking forward to reading more.

Delicate Promises is a friends to lovers story that will draw you in and keep you invested throughout. There were times when both the hero Miles and the heroine Kynslee frustrated me, although it was mostly Miles who I wanted to smack over the head and tell him to stop putting his foot in his mouth and to think before he spoke.

However having said that there were many swoon worthy and laugh out loud moments reading this story. When Miles, a former Marine and ex CIA operative runs screaming from Kynslee’s rooster I had tears streaming down my face from laughter.

From the beginning you know that Miles and Kynslee belong together, if only they can both get over themselves . Their friendship is deep as is their connection and once they finally stop avoiding the intense chemistry their story and their love finally came together.

I loved this couple and the friends and family that surround them made this an enjoyable and entertaining read.

I don’t think there’s another author out there who can make me happy cry quite the way Kelly Elliott does with her words. I swear it looked like I was a crazy person the way I had tears of happiness running down my face with the biggest smile when I finished this book. Miles and Kynslee have a story that really does steal your heart and make you fall in love with them.
Right from the prologue you can feel how much these two belong together and time and distance doesn’t change that at all. They have one of those connections that you only see in soul mates. Even when they’re butting heads that love is still there.

4, I'm totally in love with this series, Stars!!

I am madly, head over heels in love with the Southern Bride Series from author Kelly Elliott!

Delicate Promises is the second book in the Southern Bride Series and follows the story of Miles and Kynslee. From the moment I met Miles and Kynslee, I was in love. Their story started off oh, so sweet and was one I just knew would pull at my heartstrings. You see, these two best friends have been in love with one another for the longest time. But for one reason or another, the timing was just never right. These two friends are about to be tested in ways they never expected. Separated by time and the military, it will be years before these two friends will be reunited. And when life throws them back together, Miles is ready to claim the one thing he’s always wanted, but was afraid to go after. Miles is home and is ready to collect on the promise Kynslee made to him……

Delicate Promises is a second chance romance that is sure to leave you tied up in knots. I mean, it takes you on one serious rollercoaster ride of emotions. I am a huge fan of the friends to lovers troupe and this one does not disappoint. It had all the angst, drama and steam you could hope for. The characters were perfectly flawed and easy to connect with. I loved Kynslee and admired her strength. She held on to the hope that one day Miles would return to her and make all of her dreams come true. She tried desperately to move on with her life, but could never give her heart away fully. She was rightfully angry when Miles came home and I loved that she didn’t just pretend like their separation never happened. She made Miles work for her affection and forgiveness. And Miles…Man, Miles was so adorable. But, as adorable as he was, he was totally and completely clueless when it came to women. Every time he opened his mouth, he said the wrong thing. I mean, he totally suffered from foot-in-mouth syndrome. He frustrated me to no end, but he made it worth it in the end.

Despite how frustrated these characters made me at times, I can’t deny the chemistry and pull between the two of them. They kept me on my toes and had me devouring every second of their story. Now, I will be the first to admit, the road to happily ever after for these two was filled with lots of bumps and drama. There was a lot of miscommunication and drama that could easily have been sorted, if these two would just talk to one another. That being said, I can definitely appreciate the strength and determination of these characters. They weren’t afraid to fight for what they wanted and I just couldn’t wait to see how their story would come together in the end.

Delicate Promises was a great read to spend my afternoon getting lost in. I laughed. I swooned. I got frustrated and totally fell in love. My emotions were all over the place and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. In the end, I fell head over heels for Delicate Promises and I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

This was nice. I'm noticing that this series stretches almost non existing plots to a point where it can become boring but somehow they're not! I mean there's not a lot of excitement while reading these but they're cute. Here, I didn't like how they acted like teenagers when they're literally 30 but I enjoyed their story. The secondary characters were funny. Not very memorable but cute, it was a nice journey I took today and I feel good.

A great friends to lovers’/second chance romance by Kelly Elliott. I love her work and this was no exception. Kynslee and Miles were so great together. The attraction and the chemistry between them was radiating off the pages. They were each other’s first and they made a promise 12 years ago that by the time they were thirty and not married, they would marry each other. I loved watching them slowly find their way back to each other. They had a lot of starts and stop until they were able to reach the happy that they both deserve. You are going to feel each emotion that they are feeling as you are reading this book. You will be along for the ride right along with them and it was a wonderful ride. I can’t wait to read more from this series and from Ms. Elliott.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Delicate Promises breezes in as fragile as a butterfly's caress and storms out in a breathtaking blaze of glory. Elliott has really outdone herself with the Southern Brides series. Not only does my heart get to reacquaint itself with old friends, it also finds itself blessed with more great characters to get to know. Love at First Sight gave a taste a taste, but Delicate Promises provides the main course. Miles and Kynslee are one heartache shy of their endgame. What happens when a pact between friends becomes the catalyst for a second chance at finding forever? MAGIC!

These two, just omg!! Add in the small Texas town that I always want to go visit and live in and a crazy animal to make me laugh and you have the whole package right here!! I just, I love this book so much and Ms. Elliott, her writing never ceases to amaze me. I just end up falling more and more for her stories every time I pick a new one up!

Kelly really stepped out of her box with this book....The Southern Brides is quickly becoming another favorite for me.
Miles and Kynslee have known each other for forever. BUT Miles does something that truly breaks Kynslee's heart and he doesn't just do it once..
The man has been gone from their hometown of Hunt Texas for a very long time. Now he's back and he wants the woman he loves. But he just goes about in all the wrong ways.
This book is going to make you angry, make you laugh and at points make you really angry....But it is all perfectly Kelly

Another epic book by Elliot y’all!! This book had me all in my feels. I was mad, sad, happy, and then freakin estatic😆 Kelly and her words are always addicting but this story..... oh my goodness. For some reason this one hit me just right in my feels and one I will definitely recommend for everyone. Kelly hits the mark every single time! Frustrating hero and a heroine that knows what she wants and won’t accept anything less is exactly What you’ll get with this book. Loved it!

Delicate Promises is the second, standalone book in Kelly Elliott’s Southern Bride series, and it’s a swoon-worthy combination of friends-to-lovers, second-chance and enemies-to-lovers. Kynslee and Miles were best friends growing up, and in high school, they promised to marry each other if neither were married when they turned thirty. But their relationship became more complicated after their vow, because they crossed the line and became lovers intermittently throughout the subsequent years. As they enter their third decade, Kynslee is angry with Miles and no longer plans to adhere to their childhood agreement, but Miles does. You’ll fall hard for these two as they stumble and kiss their way to a reconciliation, and Delicate Promises is an adorably sexy romance with endearing characters, small-town charm and all of the feels.

ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.

Delicate Promises

This book was a gift received through my daughter. After reading Kynslee and Miles' story, I now know why my daughter enjoys reading Kelly Elliott's books. More than once I found myself laughing right out loud. To me, that's the best kind of romance.

It's no secret Kelly Elliott is one of my favorite authors. Whether its a small town romance or adventure suspense (Dangerous Temptations), she never disappoints. Her ability to suck you in and keep you wanting, needing more is unparalleled. Delicate Promises gave me ALL the feels. It was angtsy and had some laugh out loud moments. I was happy, sad, and everything in between.

Delicate Promises is book two in the Southern Bride series and is the friends-to-lovers, second chance romance of Kynslee and Miles. They grew up together as best friends. They did everything together, including falling in love....with each other. It's just that neither of them came forward to admit their feelings. Miles left for the military leaving a brokenhearted Kynslee behind. After all, he felt professing his feelings before leaving and asking her to wait for him just wouldn't be fair. So instead, they made a promise to each other...if they're not married by the time they're thirty, they will marry each other.

Fast forward 12 years, and there is Miles looking to "cash in" on his promise to Kynslee on her 30th birthday. The only problem is she is angry and bitter at being left behind. Miles has a way to go if he is going to prove to Kynslee that he wants to marry her for all the right reasons, not just because of a promise made between two teenagers.

I really loved watching their story unfold. Miles, for as swoonworthy as he was, was also an idiot at times. I wanted to smack him upside the head at some parts, but those moments also made him more relatable. Kynslee loved fiercely and after years of wanting Miles in secret, her insecurity over him leaving again was also understandable. Miles didn't have an easy road ahead of him in proving Kynslee was what he wanted and needed but he did it and their story was perfect. That epilogue!!

"I want you to know that I love you so much. I’ve always loved you, and I will forever love you."

I loved everything about this book, I seriously couldn’t put it down.

Miles and Kynslee have been best friends forever, they were each other’s first and at 18 they made a promise to each other. Flash forward 12 years and Miles intends to cash in on that promise. However, Kynslee isn’t so happy with Miles being back and just assuming that she would immediately agree to his proposal.

I loved Miles and Kyns so much. Their relationship was built on a great foundation of friendship, they had so much chemistry and could feel the love between them. They both had fears, specifically Miles and while he was kind of idiot about it, I also got where he was coming from and his reasons. Their relationship and friendship are so sweet and so beautiful.

This book is sweet and swoon worthy, especially when it comes to Miles (hello, a Cowboy and a Marine), but it also had me laughing. I loved their families and friends, but also a certain Rooster.

If you’re looking for a sweet, best friends to lover’s romance with a few laughs this is definitely one to read. Kelly Elliott NEVER disappoints her with stories. A MUST READ!

Delicate Promises is a friends to lovers story but this book is also about second chances and it captivated me, I was drawn in from the first line and was up way into the night as I kept turning the pages of this beautifully written love story, I didn’t want it to end and I’m sure like me you will feel exactly the same.
Miles and Kynslee are a couple that knew as teenagers they belonged together and time and distance hasn’t changed their feelings but now a few years on with the away from home means Miles has to convince Kynslee that he wants more and he wants it for the right reasons.
What happens when a pack made between friends becomes a second chance at love, we’ll thats when the fun and games begin especially when a mad protective rooster comes into play......
I loved Miles and Kynslee, I loved that their relationship wasn’t just about the chemistry they shared it was also about their friendship, I loved the journey I was taken on as these soulmates opened up to each other and fell in love all over again. I laughed a lot and I swooned a lot but most importantly I was left with a smile on my face. Delicate Promises is a great entertaining read .

If there was a series of love, friendship and most of all second chances Kelly Elliott's, Southern Brides is the one you need to get. We have Miles and Kynslee, two best friends who are well more than friends but afraid to really show their feelings. We see two young people falling for each other and as adults see the love they had years ago has grown to something powerful between them. I loved how Kelly Elliott shows us that no matter how much Miles has grown he still has no clue how Kynslee thinks and feels. Seeing him well grovel was cute and Kynslee sticking to her guns was awesome considering how hot Miles has become. Loving this series, cannot wait to see the next couple in this series.

A great friends to lovers romance from Kelly Elliott.
Delicate Promises is the second book in the Southern Brides series and you will not be able to stop yourself from loving Mile's and Kynslee.

Mile's and Kynslee have been best friends since they where kids as they got older they became friends with benefits. Both had more than friends feelings for each other but never really voiced them then Mile's left for the Marines. After only seeing each other a couple of times over the last 12 years Mile's is now home for good and is determined to make good on a promise he and Kynslee made to each other but will Kynslee be that willing or had Mile's hurt her to much over the years.

Such a great series and I'm looking forward to reading more in the near future.

Oh Miles and Kynslee, what a good couple they make.

Apart fro wanting g to bash both their heads together for a while, well mainly Miles....

They had great banter, the storyline was lovely, with so e poignant moments.

I especially loved Rowdy, what a giggle it was reading about him.

Kelly Elliott has a way of making you want to know everything but at the same ti e you don't want the story to end. She captures your heart, so that you feel like a fly on the wall.

The characters are very well written, with a lovely structured story, with the peripheral characters adding a further dimension to the story.

Really enjoyed the second installment of what's turning out to be a funny, lovely series.

Delicate Promises is a cute read. I loved this best friends to more read. I couldn't get enough of Kynslee and Miles. I just love Kynslee's stubbornness and how she just makes Miles work for it. Miles is so clueless when it comes to dating after his return home. You will love his stumbles and how Kynslee puts Miles in his place a few times over. Miles and Kynslee are sweet and cute and have this magnetic pull that will just suck you right in. I'm loving this Southern Bride series and small town romances that go along with it.

I am loving this New Series of Southern Brides. In this book I so LAUGHED out LOUD but Miles has a habit to stick his foot in his mouth one to many times when it comes to kynslee. These two have been life long friends but with out realizing their relationship was changing. One promise held a hell of a meaning and after 12 years could it be that simply that the love for each other that they really never proclaimed could be just as strong now or has it been to many years apart for them to find their Happy Ever After Together.

Promises…

This was a sweet story. Two best friends who were and are each other’s firsts in many ways still in love with each other. Promised to marry if they were still single at 30 and in a way always remained single. Even though there were other people in their lives. Flash forward to present and when the time came to cash in on that promise, would the promise be honored?

3.75 stars!

Second stand alone in Kelly’s Southern Brides series. This one had several tropes in one— friends to lovers, enemies to lovers and second chance romance! I love stories when the hero and heroine promise to marry each other by a certain age if they’re not married by thirty. I love all the charm that comes with a small town romance. Kelly delivers everytime.
