Adalynne's Gold Award Disaster Relief Fund

Donation protected
My name is Adalynne Robbins, I am 15 years old and attend Noblesville High School in Noblesville, Indiana. I am a girl scout in Troop 757 and am working on my Gold Award project. For my Gold Award, I am teaming up with the NALC disaster relief program to provide supplies to help those who are desperately in need of help during a time in which they feel completely helpless.

In 2014 Indiana scored a 3 out of 10 on disaster preparedness, one of the lowest in the country. In 2017 it was raised to a 7 out of 10, but compared to the rest of the states near tornado areas, this is a very low number. How can we improve this? By coming together as a community and collecting supplies to provide individuals the basic needs necessary to get back on their feet. It takes people on average 6 months to 3 years to recover from the impact of a natural disaster such as a tornado or flooding. For individuals who are already struggling to make ends meet, they may never recover and have to relocate with nothing.  My project will provide families with kits that not only provide basic needs but also hope for the future.

About the kits:
The kits will help provide supplies for families quickly and conveniently. The kits that I will be collecting items for are, a cleaning kit, a health kit and a school kit. The cleaning kit, will supply the family with basic cleaning material so that they can clean up as much wreckage or damage as possible. A health kit, that will give the family supplies for hygiene.  And a school kit, that will give the children  school supplies so that they can go back to school with the necessary items.  I will also be using some of the proceeds to purchase bibles to include with the kits.

In this time of a pandemic many people are tight on money and it could be even more devastating for them to be hit by a natural disaster. Natural disaster can strike at any time and my goal is to help provide hope to individuals so they know that people care. Thank you for your time and help with my project.
