Due to a small problem with Norisring, the last car in the grid in front of the D Class cars will not drive the race. That means it's Ghinzani. Alfa Romeo will get compensanted with 20,000 in cash for this fact.

Saturday Afternoon Report:
Endurance Race:
Image

Autosport wrote:Rouse wins amongst Ford domination
Many people, including this reporter, tought that it would be at the Norisring where the Ford domination would end, with the sleeck C Class cars to be able to take the fight on the Kaliber squad. We were all wrong.

Ford brought a brand new downforce package for the European races, and ended up maintaining the gap to their adversaries, obtaining another 1-2-3-4 in qualifying and in the race. In the end, Andy Rouse took victory ahead of Roland Ratzenberger and pole sitter Steve Soper, with Tim Harvey taking 4th. It was Rouse's first endurance race win of the season.

The most astonishing bit ended up beeing that, behind the front four, the next 5 cars over the line were also Sierra's, making it a 1st to 9th Sierra's territory. Only Deborah Gregg failed to be in the top 10, with her Sierra badged as Merkur retiring come lap 112 with a suspension failure in the main straight. With this, in 10th place, and obtaining pole for the sprint race, Naoki Nagasaka crossed the finish line to win in B Class.

A bit further behind, Marc Hessel took BMW back to the top step of the podium in C Class, finishing ahead of his team-mate Christian Danner and WTCM rookie, Bernd Schneider, who ended up beeing the best Mercedes today. In D Class, Wolfgang Kudrass took victory by over 2 laps from Andrea Geisler, with Helmut Maier finishing in 3rd.

Tomorrow comes the sprint race in the Norisring, which will feature a reserve top 10 grid, and with rain showers predicted for the start of the race, we should be in a for show.

Schneider will remain in the no. 51 car for all rounds that do not clash with his F3000 commitments, which as it stands are rounds 8, 10 and 11.
Another replacement driver will be in his place for those aforementioned rounds and will be announced closer to the time.

Sunday Report:
Sprint Race:
Image

Autosport wrote:Ratzenberger wins in the pouring rain
Come Sunday morning, teams knew what was coming: rain. And lots of it. As the time of the race began, the sky over the Norisring kept getting darker, and it started to pour down a couple of minutes before the race. The question now, was if the rain was permanent or if it would only be a quick downpoor and the race would run in changeable conditions.

Eventually, the rain didn't ease, and we had a full wet race at the Norisring run over 44 laps. The rain proved quite a challenge for the drivers, who had to adapt to different lines, and with Norisring beeing a short track, to lapped traffic spray. The man who managed all of this with perfection was Kaliber driver Roland Ratzenberger, who came through to take his first win of the season. Starting from 9th on the grid, he was the first of the Fords to come through the pack to lead another 1-2-3-4 for the Kaliber squad, with this time beeing endurance race winner Andy Rouse beeing left out of the podium. Harvey got 2nd and championship leader Steve Soper got 3rd. The best non-Kaliber was Brendon Cassidy's privateer Sierra, who was the last mean on the lead lap, taking win in privateer class in the process, ahead of Klaus Ludwig, Manuel Reuter, Martin Schanche and Masahiro Hasemi who rounded up the top 10 as leading B Class car. Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Deborah Gregg, who came from all the way from 31st on the grid to 12th, scored the last remaining points for the sprint race.

In C Class, Christian Danner and Marc Hessel once again finished 1-2, proving the BMW domination in low speed tracks, and that they are masters of the Norisring. Mauro Baldi finished in 3rd place, getting a 1-2-3 for BMW in the process. In D Class, Wolfgang Kudrass completed the "treble", taking his third victory of the weekend, ahead of Andrea Geisler and Herbert Lingmann.

WTCM will return to action later in this month in its first visit to the African continent, in the Kyalami circuit.

Budgets and championship standings will be updated over the next couple of days.

Apologies, realised that the previous message wasn't as clear as I thought it was - rounds 8, 10 and 11 are the one which Schneider cannot drive. Schneider will remain in the car at South Africa.

Favourites:
We leave Europe for the final time this season as we head to South Africa, to the Kyalami circuit. We can admit that Kyalami is a circuit fairly close to how Watkins Glen was: a long straight combined with a twisty section should prove is with a good race overall.
The Kaliber Ford's enter as the main favourites, and unless special circumstances occur, should be another win for the British squad led by Andy Rouse, although they must be carefull, since at Watkins Glen, they did get fight from other cars.
C Class should see Alfa Romeo be closer this weekend due to the twisty section of the track, with B Class beeing an incognite as Toyota and Volvo brought updates to try and catch Nissan.

Autosport wrote:Rouse and Perez-Sala both win from pole in PQ races

In the final race outside Europe, at the Kyalami circuit in South Africa, Andy Rouse fought his Ford team-mates to victory in the first of the pre-qualifying sessions, winning from pole positions, finishing two seconds ahead of his team-mates Roland Raztenberg in 2nd and Tim Harvey in 3rd. Soper completed the Kaliber 1-2-3-4, finishing 8 seconds back. Following, already almost 30 seconds back, were the Zakspeed Sierra's of Reuter and Ludwig, with the Holden of Perkins showing very interesting pace by finishing in 7th (the other two Holden's qualified well, but struggled on race pace). Nagasaka finished 8th, taking the win in B Class, with Scott Pruett in 9th and a very strong showing from Thomas Nurmester taking him to 10th place. Rounding up the podium places in B Class were Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Juan Maria Traverso, with the updated Toyota posing a serious threat to the Nissan's around Kyalami, taking pole position and fastest lap in class.

In the second pre-qualifying race, Luis Perez-Sala took victory from pole position after initial struggles on cold tyres. Despite getting overtaken at the start by Roland Asch and Bernd Schneider, Sala overtook Schneider and then overtook Asch in lap 15 and took victory by just a bit over a second ahead of the german, with Armin Hahne completing the Mercedes sweep. Marc Hessel was the best BMW car, finishing in 4th, ahead of returnee Johnny Cecotto who took 5th, and Bernd Schneider finished in 6th. Mauro Baldi was 7th, with Olaf Manthey in 8th, Hario Hytten in 9th and Markus Östreich in 10th, beeing back in the endurance race at last. South African were happy with Wayne Taylor finishing 11th in class and qualifying for the endurance race as well, finishing ahead of BMW manufacturer drivers Christian Danner, in 12th, and Didier Theys in 16th. Roberto Ravaglia was the biggest surprise, when his BMW car stopped by the track with a engine failure and he gets his first DNQ of the year. In D Class, "Pierre Chauvet" took victory ahead of Tony Martin, another local, and Beate Nodes, with Max Cohen-Olivar also qualifying.

Therefore, this is the starting list for the endurance race and sprint race at Kyalami:

Quick note: I've edited the fuel mileage in the preview, since they were badly calculated. Everyone please base strategies on that.

Sunday Afternoon Report:
Endurance Race:
Image

Autosport wrote:Rouse wins from pole among multiple heartbreaks
Andy Rouse took victory in the endurace race at Kyalami, after starting from pole position and leading 90 of the 110 laps. The Kaliber british driver took advantage of his team-mates retirements to be the only Kaliber that finished, finishing 2 laps ahead of second place, Deborah Gregg, who becomes the first woman to get a podium in a race in WTCM. Deborah Gregg also took victory in independts class.

3rd place fight went right to the wire. Klaus Ludwig two stop dropped him to 8th, but he moved up the field, eventually beeing only 3 seconds behind Klaus Niedzwiedz, who was running a very incredible 3rd in the Volvo. The german driver, with only 1 lap left for the leader, found a bit of traffic, and Ludwig took advantage and completed the move to get 3rd place, and the first podium for Zakspeed. A happy and sad Niedzwiedz crossed the line in 4th place, scoring his first points of the season and Volvo's best result of the year, and victory in B Class.

Roland Asch crossed the finish line in 5th place, to take victory in C Class, with Naoki Nagasaka finishing in 6th place for Nissan. 7th went for another Volvo, Per-Gunna Andersson, with Armin Hahne in 8th place. 9th place went for local Sarel van der Merwe, driving the manufacturer Volvo, with 10th place and pole for the sprint race going to Christian Danner.

Despite this, the race saw multiple heartbreaks, the main one coming from Francisco Hernandez. The
argentinean privateer was running in 3rd place, well ahead of Niedzwiedz, when with 6 laps to go for the leader, his car suffered a terminal engine failure, and he retired. Incredible images showed next, as he climbed out from his broken Nissan in tears realising what he had lost.

The victory in D Class went to Pierre Chauvet, with the austrian driver leading every lap from pole position to win from Beate Nodes, with the other two drivers in class retiring.

Another highlight came from local driver Wayne Taylor, as the privateer entry from BMW South Africa finished in 17th place, scoring 2 points in the process. Alfa also achived his best result from the year, finishing in 14th place.

Sunday Report:
Sprint Race:
Image

Autosport wrote:Rouse completes weekend sweep

Andy Rouse has won the sprint race at Kyalami, after starting from 10th place on the grid. The british driver completed the weekend sweep, after winning both the pre-qualifying race and the endurance race already. He's the first driver in WTCM history to win all 3 races during the weekend.

Rouse finished 7 seconds ahead of of team-mate Tim Harvey, with the other two Kaliber completing the 1-2-3-4, with Soper in 3rd and Ratzenberger in 4th. Klaus Ludwig finished in 5th place, winning the independent race. Scott Pruett finished in 6th place, with the leading C Class driver Christian Danner, the pole sitter, in 7th place. Danner still lead the first 4 laps, but the BMW couldn't hold off the pace of the Sierra's. But never than less, a incredible showing from the german driver. 8th place was the leading B Class driver, Per-Gunnar Andersson, who took Volvo's second victory in class of the weekend and of the season. A good performance from Volvo, which should increase morale in the swedish team. Armin Hahne was 9th, with the other Volvo of Klaus Niedzwiedz in 10th place.

D Class win went once again to Pierre Chauvet, with the Levin beeing clearly a step ahead of the other cars in competition.

I'll update budgets as soon as possible. Championship standings are up on the wiki.

There's 4 entries left for Hockenheim. You have until 8th August to fill them. Updates can also be requested until 5th August.
