Dirty Talk

Rate this book
From the New York Times Bestselling Author of The Resistance comes this new STANDALONE contemporary romance. Because first love deserves a second chance . . . One month. One movie. One shot at a second chance. I fell madly in love at first sight with Jane Lewis. The girl with bright green eyes, a pretty smile, and great ass owned my heart. I thought she was happy with the status quo, but ten years later, I foolishly let her go. Despite dating other women, no one compares to my first love. We are meant to be together, and I’m going to try my damnedest to convince her of that. Luke Anders tricked me. The deal was sealed before I knew he was behind it. We agreed to be just friends. Simple. Easy. But it’s not just the weather that’s hot in Texas. I was a fool to think I could resist him. He knows how to work his charms and those kissable lips, that great jaw, and biceps. We are here to work, but he has become downright distracting. I’m strong. I can handle one month of his flirtatious sexual torture. But if I happen to fall in bed with that sexy bastard for a night, or three, does that make me weak? Asking for a friend, of course. I guess I’m about to find out when love gets messy, it’s not just the talk that’s dirty. **After reading this dirty talking movie producer, make sure to meet Danny Weston, sweet talking super male model, in Sweet Talk. "Sweet Talk is a fun, sexy, emotionally-rich second chance romance with a charm-your-panties-off hero." ~ New York Times Bestselling Author, Violet Duke

I fell head-over-heels in love with Luke! Gah!
His dirty talk is sexy, his romantic side oh-so-swoony! This alpha had me at "hello".
Even more, Jane is my kind of heroine: feisty, playful, and confident. I loved her in much the same way that I loved my all-time favorite book girl (Holiday from SL Scott's The Resistance). She's a girl you could be friends with, a woman you admire. I loved her as much as I loved Luke and that never happens to me. Ever.
I loved Sweet Talk by SL Scott, but I think I loved Dirty Talk a smidgen more! Pick this one up for a story you can't put down!

5, Dirty Talking, Stars

“I’m about to be tested–heart and soul, mind and body. This will determine my future and I have no idea if that future holds the same ending the film does. Somehow I doubt it. Not everyone gets a second chance.”

“I gave my soul to you when we were sixteen. Will you give me yours now?” “You already have it.” “Only you, Jane. Only for you.” “I’m going to open your body, embrace your soul, and coax the moon and stars to shine inside.”

“Time doesn’t heal old wounds. It distorts them. Twists your memories so you forget the truth and see the extremes. Love or hate. those are the only emotions left to comfort me after all this time. One of the other. changing, depending on the day. The hour. The minute.”

We asked for it… We begged for it.. We met this sexy, dirty talker in Sweet Talk, and Luke is here to finally tell his story……

Finally, finally, finally we get Jane and Luke’s story. I don’t know about you guys, but I absolutely fell in love with this broken-hearted man in Sweet Talk and was dying to hear his story. I had to know how and why we got to this point. And let me tell you, S.L. Scott does not disappoint. She took my expectations for Dirty Talk and obliterated them, I mean blew them to smithereens.

Dirty Talk played with my emotions and took me on one incredible ride. Dirty Talk is told from dual points of view, and let me tell you, you are sucked into this story from the very first page. I mean you are completely consumed by Jane and Luke’s story, and you won’t be able to put it down. I believe I was about 3% or so into the story and already had that “this is going to be a good one” feeling. Now, I have to tell you, Jane and Luke’s story is anything but easy and will totally pull at your heart. There are so many misunderstandings and lost opportunities, you won’t be able to stop yourself from screaming at your kindle, like I did.

Jane…Ugh…My heart went out to her. She made so many mistakes, but she owned up to each one of them. She was hurt and she let that hurt shape her and build walls. She is stronger than most would give credit for and she is the kind of woman that we can all see ourselves in. She’s not perfect and but she loves with everything that she has. Luke….Luke, we met you and fell in love with your bromance with Danny in Sweet Talk. I couldn’t wait to discover more about Luke and how his heart got broken. Luke is sexy, smart and one hell of a dirty talker. Let me tell you, some of those scenes…..SCORCHING…that’s all I’m gonna say. But, there’s more to Luke than his sexy dirty talking. Beneath all of that is a man fighting for his second chance. He’s not in anyway perfect and has also made some pretty huge mistakes when it comes to Jane. But, he’s trying. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to fight for it. Together, these two form the ultimate combination. The push and pull between them is intense and the tension is off the charts. A love like theirs is the type that can never be smoldered or buried. It is the kind that you just can’t live without and will fight forever for…..

Dirty Talk was a fabulous read. It gave me everything I could possibly want in a second chance romance. This story is well written and all consuming. The characters are imperfect, real and complicated. They are people that you can easily relate to and see apart of yourself in. S.L. Scott has once again provided us with an amazing story-line and characters that you can not help but fall in love and connect with.

Dirty Talk is entertaining. It is sexy. It is complicated and frustrating. It is romantic and swoon-worthy. I fell in love and can not stop swooning over the dirty talking Luke. This book was everything and more and I still have a smile on my face. Fans of S.L. Scott and second chance romances, you are not going to want to miss out on Luke and Jane’s story. I hope you will love Luke and Jane as much as I did.

4 1/2 "Second chance" Stars!

I loved it. Luke was a dirty talking sweetie pie. Jane was understandable, but frustrating to me. She had to realize there are consequences to her actions. In this case her actions being leaving Luke in the first place. But again, I understood why she did it. But she can't hold what he did when they were broken up against him. Everyone deals with heartache in their own (whorish *cough Luke) way. I guess Luke had to learn that lesson too. Anyway, I won't go too much into detail, but I really liked this story. They both made some mistakes, but their love for each other was clear in every page. The ending was somewhat abrupt, but overall I liked it a lot. Happy reading!

This is my first book by this author, and it is not going to be my last. I liked the pacing, it was excellent and, in a story with some flashbacks, it is important to have the pacing mocve quickly enough that the flashbacks don’t feel like they are stopping the story. The writing was strong and I was able to relate to both Luke and Jane.

Luke and Jane had amazing chemistry. It was easy to believe that they had been together in the past, and the connection they had made it clear how they would have made the transition from teenagers in love to adults, which is not easy to portray convincingly.

The plotting was interesting; the idea of the rebuilding of the relationship during the story was appealing. I felt like I was in both a second chance and a story detailing the work that goes into keeping the same relationship alive. The idea that Luke was trying to win her back, and that she was resisting, gave it the feeling that it is simultaneously both types of stores, as the author explores not only their past, but also their present.

The machinations of the woman he had slept with in the past, were, in my opinion, not necessary. If there was anything I would change, I think I would have liked to have seen this left out of the book and more time with Luke and Jane as a couple and trying to work through that, the newness at the same time as the familiarity.

I loved the ending and where the author left them, it was perfect. I definitely recommend this book.

"I'm going to open your body, embrace your soul, and coax the moon and stars to shine inside"

Luke and Jane were teen sweethearts, in love and thought they were each others forever.

JANE:I grew up with Luke he was my first kiss. My first date. My first dance with a boy. My first make - out session. The person I lost my virginity to and coincidentally the last one I was with as well.

Dirty talk takes you to the not so happily ever after, the time apart, the happy times they remembered and the mistakes, regrets and the attempts to get what they each had back told in dual pov's.

Jane:
Luke Anders is my past and soon to be future all wrapped in a sexy hard body and a lady killer smile.

Plot: Jane has written a script and Luke is directing the movie both are hoping this time together will heal and rekindle what they once had but just as there's a step forward there's always a step back and your taken on a roller-coaster love trip.

A slow going plot a little frustrating at times, full of Luke's swoon worthy sweet and dirty talk. Lots of romantic moments, not overly done with sex scenes but sprinked throughout the plot in all the right places.

Dirty Talk is about regrets, learning from mistakes, moving forward, making a new future and trusting in destiny and has a plot you can get lost in leading you to a hea.

Oh Luke...you dirty-talking, sexy hunk! You've charmed the pants off me repeatedly, and I know I'm not the only one! This book, just like Sweet Talk, oozes sex appeal! But it's Luke's turn to make us swoon!

Meet Jane. Sweet and caring, with hints of sass beneath the vulnerability she exudes.
And Luke. A Hollywood manwhore, with a sexy edge and a killer smile.

These two have a complicated history. Both have loved and lost each other, and the unspoken feelings they share do not help their current situation. Coming together once again, but as professional collegues, is going to be their toughest challenge yet. Can these two overlook their past mistakes and find a way to complete their job on time? Will they risk their hearts again for a second chance at love...or will they still be too hurt to be able to forgive and forget?

Luke won me over from the very beginning. I quickly connected with his character, along with the emotions he was battling over Jane. His humor, quick wit and sexy personality was to die for! Okay...so he's also arrogant and cocky, but I love that in characters! But Jane on the other hand, it took me a lot longer to warm up to her. She was always back and forth, hot and cold with her feelings for Luke. One minute she was telling him she wants nothing to do with him, and the next she's all over him. But eventually she won my heart over, it just took further convincing!

Overall, Jane and Luke have a dynamic and very passionate relationship. Everyone can tell how much they love each other. The battles they had to endure, along with some unwelcome setbacks, only make the story stronger! Plus, the interactions with Danny and comedic dialogue put this book right over the top! (I love when previous characters make appearances!)

Dirty Talk is a 100% must read! The love, sparkling chemistry, misunderstandings and emotional highs and lows make this story one you'll absolutely love!

5 Dirty-Talking Stars!

I loved this book! You need to meet Luke Anders! This man. Who does not love a dirty talking romantic at heart man! S.L. Scott gave us another second chance love story that will steal your heart.

In Dirty Talk, we meet Luke and Jane, who after spending ten years together, somehow lost their way, though they never got their hearts back. Not understanding where they stood and what Jane needed, because Luke thought everything was okay, he let her go. He loved her. Wanted her. But sometimes choices are made that are hard to take back

Jane loved Luke. Loved him for as long as she could remember. But she needed and wanted more, but did not know how to make him understand. She made a choice and walked away from her heart, even as it broke her.

This is a story of two people meant to be together, but their choices took them further apart. Even as their hearts knew what they wanted, it seemed their choices kept getting in the way. But now Luke has one chance to win her back and show her what she really means to him. But is it too late? Can they find their way back to each other or has too much time apart changed them so much? Can they have a future when their pasts won't let them go?

Dirty Talk takes you on a wild ride where two people desperately in love do not know how to find their way back to each other. During their time apart, each of them moved forward the best way they could, but in the process, hurt the other. And now they have to work together for one month.

This book is a must read! It is sweet and heart-warming with some light angst that will grab you from the first word to the last! And as an added bonus, you get Danny’s second chance at love story. If you have not read it, trust me, you want too.

Dirty Talk by S.L. Scott was a 5+ read for me.

Happy reading!

Why the heck I do this to me?!?!? After this crap I'm done with second chance romance.I give up.Just can't read anymore of this ridiculous and over the top unrealistic stories.Ok here is what I think S.L Scott is trying to say with this book:Never fall in love as a teenager and stay in this relationship for years because it will never work out at the end. Why? The women ( as always ) wants more like marriage, kids ...after a long time together ( in this book 10 years ) it is something that comes naturally, right? So,the man don't want this things and I know why he don't want it. The author made it clear,he wants to party and fuck and live before he closes the door for him forever if he don't wants to cheat one day.The women has a brilliant idea. She leaves the man and is sure he loves her so much and will chase after her while he finds out he can't live without her, right? No!He will not chase after her.He chases other women and get his chance to fuck around with no regrets.I mean falling in love with 16 years and never have the chance to try someone else? You'll never know what you miss. And after trying everything out and got bored, you're ready to commit to the one left behind.Because this one will always love you and love more and forgives you no matter what. The rest of this story is blah blah blah boring and just ridiculous bull.

Luke may be an expert at dirty Talk, but he is the absolute king of swoon!! In DIRTY TALK we get everything Luke Anders and let me just say that SL Scott did not disappoint with this story at all!!

When we first meet Luke in SWEET TALK aka Models on Top: Danny, we see him as Danny's best friend who's trying desperately to get over his longtime girlfriend. He seemed sad to me in so many ways. But in DT he's finally realized what he lost and he wants Jane Lewis back in his life any way he can.

Jane is lost and floundering in life. She reluctantly still loves Luke, but she's unsure she can trust him. So what happens when her dream of getting one of her scripts made come true? Luke is right back front and center, that's what. She knows this is her shot. Both to make her movie come to life, and to deal with her feelings.

What follows is a beautifully crafted story of two people trying to see if the forever they dreamed of can be found despite the pain and heartbreak they've endured. These characters, and even the supporters brought so many feelings to the table. From angst to humor to passion to anger and back. Don't miss this story!!

We got a look into Luke Anders side of  things regarding the whole messy Jane situation. Pretty clear from that it was going to be somewhat turbulent. Right off we get to why things started, the incident that started it. Having a dual POV really helps with these books as much as I love the male POV it sometimes you need the perspective and insight. This is their second shot at making things good between them again, well Luke’s anyway. It’s going to be messy but it’s worth it if they do get through it, second chances are worth it.
Jane and Luke meet again on a movie set after a  length of time apart and the hurts and unresolved issues that hang in between. This is a huge opportunity for Jane so regardless of the uncertainty of things she will persevere to get it done. Devised a plan, sacrifices played a role in it on Mr. Anders part to make this happen, he is nothing but determined to get things on track this time with the time had. Do whatever he can to make this right and get the girl this time.
While I didn’t initially think much of Jane from ‘Sweet Talk’ and didn’t particularly think she’s for Luke at from everything that happened. I didn’t see it, after understanding her I get that better. Getting to know their history it made sense. As for Luke, he obviously loved her a lot so much he didn’t know what to do for two years but mess around. They both had mistakes and things left unsaid. Past anger, betrayal and    Both lost lonely people they definitely needed each other. I felt for them and liked the way they are together, weight lifted. I admire Luke’s dedication pinning away for that long and I wanted him to get his happy. He is definitely swoon worthy, charming and smooth talker.

Dirty Talk by SL Scott OWNED ME. Friends to lovers is my kryptonite. It's my crack. I feed off friends to lovers romances and revel in them. Dirty Talk was utter perfection for this friends to lovers bookworm.. I could not get enough. The build up throughout this book is an epic high, that left me deliriously happy. But with each high came an earth shattering low and massive heartbreak. Luke and Jane's whole relationship is intense and explosive whether they are on or off.

If you read Sweet Talk, then like me, I'm sure you were SUPER excited at the prospect of getting Luke’s book. NEVER did I imagine that I'd love him the way I do. Jeez that man is DANGEROUS. In a totally good way.
Luke Anders is dirty, delicious, sinful, sexy romantic and oh so swoony. He made my knees buckle just from reading his lines. He's infectious and raw. Just wonderful. *heart eyes* He ruined me.

Jane Lewis is Luke’s best friend, childhood sweetheart and holder of his heart. Her and Luke are a match made in heaven, don't get me wrong there were times I just wanted to scream OPEN YOUR EYES! but that burn, that tension, that build up is what made this books so perfect for me. The breath stealing way their relationship broke, then built before breaking again then ending so beautifully was everything I needed. At times my heart was racing, pounding so hard. Other times it hit the floor. Dirty Talk has the perfect mix of highs and lows, that balance beautifully.

Dirty Talk shines like the brightest star, lights everything up like the fullest moon and steals the heart and soul. And has left my feelings the total opposite of mad!

Repetitive and Boring

I was more fixated watching my progress while reading this book than I was the story.

The story just dragged on and on and both H and h had the maturity of two pubescent teens in the throws of a first love.

Seriously.

If the repetitious internal dialogue and angst over the main character's broken relationship wasn't enough to put me off, the emotional chat sessions between the H and his best friend sealed the deal. Trying to wrap it up in forced and less-than-believable machismo only made it a more painful read.

I got a lot of household chores done trying to read this book. It was far too easy to put down and allow myself to become distracted with laundry.

Some (unsolicited) advice...lower your expectations going in or you may find yourself as bored and disappointed as I was. The first third of the book has the main characters having all of their meaningful dialogue internally or in flashbacks. This is on a loop for several chapters. I supposed to reinforce the idea and to make a believer out of the reader.

This is not a book I would recommend and I'm less likely to look for others by this author. I'd like to think this was just a "miss". I'd also like to just eat one Lay's Potato Chip.

I always enjoy an SL Scott story because while her stories are sexy and romantic, she fills her books with fun, through the characters' humour and banter between each other. You can invest in the characters because they are relatable in that they say and do things, we mere day to day people do all the time. Yet she somehow manages to make these characters the perfect read and escape fantasy characters. Kind of like they're attainable but unattainable. If that makes sense. So while I've come home from a hard days work and thrown off the bra and put on some yoga pants, a guy like Luke or Danny is every girl's fantasy but I could totally score with them.
Scott is able to keep the books light but adds a dash of angst that grabs hold of your heartstrings and gives just the right of awww moments to the story.
I loved Jane. She's a strong female character who doesn't need a man to carry her through the story but damn if she doesn't deserve one. She's unassumingly beautiful, works hard and is like the one girlfriend who doesn't care if you're wearing any makeup and will eat a tub of ice cream with you on your worst day.
SL Scott does a great job of creating a vibe and energy to her stories. The chemistry between characters is evident and she keeps the story rolling steady with a great storyline that isn't unidimensional.
Dirty Talk was one of those easy reads but you love every moment of it and you can't put it down. It's one you can talk about with friends and enjoy discussing all the sexiness that is Luke. He really is that sexy and sweet as heck.
Definitely one-click this book and while you're at it pick up Sweet Talk (Luke's best friend Danny). There's a whole lotta sexy and fun packed into both books.

Luke is the perfect package. He's a gentleman that can make you swoon. He can talk so dirty to you in the bedroom that you get hot and bothered. Luke's love for Jane is something that is so heartwarming. The way he loves her is like poetry. She is the only woman he's ever loved. The last two years they've been apart and to fill that void he's filled his bed with random women.
Jane. When Jane was first introduced in Danny's book (Sweet Talk) I didn't like her much. But to hear her side of the story had me understanding her much more. She has a lot of regrets but Luke's not one of them. He's the love of her life.
Can these two put the past where it belongs? Or will the past always come back to ruin them?

3.5 Try Again Stars

Up until almost two years ago, Hollywood producer Luke Anders and screenwriter Jane Lewis were a couple from the time they were teens. For ten years Luke thought things were working. That was until Jane gave him an ultimatum. When he didn't give her the answer she wanted, she left. Now almost two years later, they are both living lives they never wanted. Luke is sleeping around and knows as a great "dirty talker." Jane seems to be engaged to a high powered Hollywood attorney. But things aren't quite what they seem.

Too afraid and unwilling to be rejected, they both keep their true feelings hidden. Luke wants nothing more than to go back in time and make different choices so Jane would have never left. Jane, wishes she'd never walked away and had been more communicative about her needs.

When Luke takes a risk and invests everything he has to bring Jane's dream and screeenplay to life, will their close proximity force them to admit truths to themselves and each other, or will they continue to hold back what they really feel to keep from possibly being hurt?

With others in their lives determined to keep them apart, these two will have to dig deep and go against their instincts in order to give each other what they need to be the soulmates they were destined to be.

I want to thank the author for allowing me to read the book in exchange for a review. This is my first time reading her material.

I liked it okay. I don't know if it was because I hadn't read "Sweet Talk" , but I felt like I was missing something. The back and forth between these two spun my head. I just wanted to shake them. She was playing games, he was stubborn, they both made mistakes. Every couple pages they both struggled to figure out if they should go for it or move on.

I am definitely open to trying this author again. Though Luke's friend, Danny, is in this book, I can't tell if his story is before of after this one.

I think I was also a little surprised because b>"Sweet Talk" is listed as a RomCom and then this story is completely dramatic.

This was my first S.L. Scott book and it didn't disappointment. I'm a sucker for happily ever afters in general, but add old lovers reconnecting to make that happily ever after and I'm even happily. Writing this decide without spoilers is rough, but bare with me please!

I love Jane as a character. She has loved the same man since she was 17 and he was a boy, but a decision she makes keeps them apart until they find their way back to each other. I felt for Jane on this story. I connected with Jane because of her ability to be strong when she needed to be and to trust her feelings at other times when she needed to. Making the decision she did wasn't an easy one and it slightly wrecked her until Luke was back in life, but I understand why she made that decision. Jane trusted herself to make the best decision at that moment and I loved her for it.

Luke. I felt for him. Loving the same girl since you're 17 isn't something that everyone can say they've done. Winning back said girl is his challenge and one he has accepted because he can't live without her. He might not have been the brightest at times, but he loves Jane to the fullest, risking everything to make her dreams possible. I loved this aspect of his character and it made the story that much better.

This book can be read as standalone, but it mentions Danny Westover, Luke's best friend, who has his own story- Sweet Talk. I can't wait to more of S.L. Scott's work. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

I was ecstatic when I was given the ARC for Dirty Talk. The title alone I was a goner! Who doesn’t love dirty talkers? Luke definitely delivered and more. This is Luke and Jane’s story. They have a past and I found myself struggling as much as they do trying to find their way back to each other. Many times I wanted to scream at them and throw my Kindle. Their chemistry in and out of the bedroom is off the charts! One that sticks in my mind so clearly is the “I own this” scene OMG!!!! HOT!!!! This is one you’ll have to read for yourself.

I love when Luke plays with Jane and tries to embarrass her by talking dirty.

“Fine. I won’t talk about how incredibly sexy you were when I touched you there and then you squirmed when I touched you elsewhere. And that the, you know, was not only good for you, but amazing for me.”

My absolute favorite part of the book is when Jane tells Luke, “You we’re the most handsome boy I had ever seen, cuter than any movie star and swoonier than any boy band. I saw you coming from twenty feet away, but my heart wasn’t prepared for you. You stole it and my eternal love that day in eleventh grade. Now here you are stealing my breath away along with it.” SWOON!!!!!!!! <3

This is a second chance romance leading you to a HEA. I absolutely loved it!

Luke & Jane met in high school and became a couple. They have loved each other since they were 16. They were very happy together and Jane wanted more. Jane wanted marriage and babies but Luke was not in the same place. So Jane leaves

Luke having to live his life without Jane regrets not giving her what she wanted. But now Jane is engaged to Lawrence and he does not think he will get a chance with Jane again.

Jane writes a movie script and Luke loves it. So Luke buys the script and they proceed to make a movie together.

I have mixed feelings on this story. Jane is selfish. She left Luke and then expected him to never have sex with anyone else. But Luke is a very attractive young man and just wants to feel better so he fills his life with meaningless one night stands. Jane wants Luke back but cannot see past all the woman he was with….. REALLY. She’s an idiot. You can’t breakup with a guy and expect him to never be with anyone else. And she was engaged after all.

Luke can’t get past the hurt of Jane giving up and leaving. She broke both their hearts. I agree Luke was somewhat to blame for not committing to Jane but both of these characters are a bit whinny.

I like the overall story and the way the couple found themselves back together.

S L Scott continues to enthral me with her sexy as hell, laugh out loud, edge of your seat romances, and Dirty Talk was everything i wanted. Luke Anders is seriously swoon worthy, and that mouth… good god! He was a perfect match for the sassy, sweet, and strong willed Jane. From the beginning I craved the perfect happily ever after for this amazing second chance romance. The book hangover I’m feeling is real, and I swear my heart beat has only just gone back to normal. S L Scott delivered on every level, and I knew she would. This is a definite one-click, and has cemented S L Scott on my favourites list.

I loved seeing Luke in Models On Top/Sweet Talk.

I knew I wanted his story as soon as he and Danny started talking about this mysterious "Jane."

I didn't know what I would be getting, but OMG! Luke Anders is one of those guys you want to see happy. No matter what it takes to get him there, you want him happy. You want to see him smile and laugh and have a good time. You want to see him love. You want to see him succeed.

Because he deserves it.

He's given the manwhore reputation a run for its money, but he's heartbroken and lost. He finds comfort in the temporary. He doesn't want anything serious and the one-night stands are typically very accommodating.

I mean, who wouldn't be? He's the Luke Anders.

I loved the book. I loved Luke and Janie. I loved seeing Danny again.

*I listened to the audio of this book. The narrators are well cast and play the characters very well. I love how they brought these characters to a new life that only audio can provide.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the book.

This book. So many swoon-worthy moments! Luke is so in love it makes my heart burst!

"I'm going to open your body, embrace your soul, and coax the moon and stars to shine inside." I may have had something in my eye when I read that line because they started watering a little bit.

This was my first venture into any work by this author. I've heard lots of good things, and when I was given the opportunity to read this book early, I jumped at the chance! This book is actually the follow-up to Sweet Talk (formerly titled Model On Top-Danny), but luckily it can be read as a standalone because I hadn't read the first one.

Jane Lewis and Luke Anders have this history. Having known each other and dated since high school, they both always thought they were it for each other, until Jane leaves Luke, unable to deal with his lack of full, verbal commitment to their relationship. After 10 years of dating, they'd become stagnant and she felt he was more into his career than her. In response, Luke starts "dating" half of LA, trying to get Jane out of his heart and mind.

Until one day he picks up a script, a script written by none other than Jane Lewis. Unbeknownst to her, Luke jumps at the chance to produce it, finding any way possible to get it financed. When Jane finds out they will be working together, she struggles to keep her distance, physically and emotionally.

The relationship throughout this book between Luke and Jane is very back and forth, up and down. They both have trust issues based on their past and have difficulty putting things behind them. I lovelovelove Luke's sweet, romantic nature, even though he's known around town as a dirty talker. He just says these things that just melt your heart...AND your panties!! He tries so hard to protect Jane from so many things that happened in their "in between" years when they were apart and seeing other people (cue her douche bag "fiancé", Lawrence and Luke's string of one night stands). The biggest part of it all, the actress picked for the movie is one of those former one night stands. Jessica Pyles isn't "all there". She wanted permanency, a commitment, after just one night with Luke. The only reason Luke even went to her was to hire her and her boyfriend to play the lead roles. He figured bringing them on as a package deal would keep her away from him.

Issue: Jessica wants Luke for herself and will stop at nothing to get what she wants, including spilling secrets.

SL Scott wrote such a good "villain"! I literally wanted to throat punch this Jessica character for wanting to sabotage everything!!! She even resorts to blackmail at one point. She's written as this spoiled Hollywood starlet who is accustomed to getting what she wants and refuses to take no for an answer.

Something else I loveloveloved: the fact that Jane realized there was nothing real between her and Lawrence and finally decided to give things with Luke a second (and maybe 3rd...) chance. He was always her forever; she just needed to see it, as did he.

I am so so glad I got the chance to read and review this book early. The characters have so much love and hotness between them. #relationshipgoals (5 swooning stars)

Sweet Talk introduced us to Jane and Luke, here we get their story.

Luke is the ultimate BBF… he’s sexy, confident, and has a dirty streak that makes the women fall at his feet. He’s a lover and if you go by word on the street, then you better believe he is a darn excellent one.

Jane is a lost soul. She’s been trying to find herself and the only place she feels like she belongs is with Luke. Yet they have history, and if we remember from the previous book, it hasn’t been such a good one. I didn’t like Jane much before, not knowing her side of the story, but now, I realize just how much she has suffered and how miscommunication can make people act rash in a moment of desperation.

Luke and Jane have a love that has survived time, yet they each have fears that keep them from being together. But will their love be strong enough that they throw caution to the wind and jump into each other’s arms?

I loved this story. I loved Luke, with his dirty talking ways, yet his sweetness showed whenever Jane was around. He definitely makes you swoon. Jane is also a great character. Her strong sense and conviction made sure that she didn’t just fall at the feet of the man she loved when she wasn’t sure of what was going on. She is a character you can connect with and that made the story more engaging.

Danny, the loyal best friend whose book, Sweet Talk made us fall in love with him… he is the type of friend you want in your corner, the one who will listen and give you a kick in the a** when you deserve it. He was there for Luke and made him see the error of his ways. I loved that we got to see him here as well.

Now Lawrence and Jessica, those two can go jump in a lake or fly off a cliff without a parachute. I wanted to throat punch them each time they were on the scene. What a pair of horrible people, yet their characters were also well written that you needed them in the story.

I can’t say much more without giving the plot away and I sure don’t want to ruin the experience for anyone. You just have to read this book. And it would be even more enjoyable if you read Sweet Talk first because it will give you a bit of a background, but it’s not absolutely necessary. But I still say you need to pick up Danny’s book, because… DANNY!!!

Three words ~ One.Sitting.Read. ~ Despite an early morning meeting on the horizon, once I started this book I simply couldn't put this book away without finishing. I had to find out just how Jane and Luke would get through a month, on set together, without one or the both of them walking away unscathed. S.L. Scott is clever in her story line plotting and creates some of the most endearing characters. I haven't met one I didn't love that I wasn't supposed to ( well, mostly ~ I mean she left me totally knotted up with the "From The Inside Out" series.). There's just something about her characters that make me feel really invested in them and it takes me a while to let go. Dirty Talk is certainly one that fits the bill.

Luke Anders has one true love and it's Jane. Jane Lewis ( fictional author of a favorite book of mine " Until I Met You" , can't move past her history with Luke and the rejection she felt when they broke up after ten years together. Luke and Jane are a wonderful couple but they have terrible time communicating their feelings, lest their faith be challenged and the trust be shattered AGAIN. But when these two get passed their past, they are simply magical. The time they have been a part doesn't lessen their desire for each other ( Very HOT read) and I'm not sure the title refers only to Luke. Jane's the writer after all and it doesn't take much to make Jane coach Luke into how use his words on her.

The premise and how they end up working together creates a conflict where they just need a short of time to keep things under wraps so as not to jeopardize their professional credentials. They have a long history and that can be a part of the problem. Outside of flashbacks, the story takes place in a short time frame, keeping the tension high. Maybe they think they know each other inside out but a lot changed with their break up. Going into their re-connection, well assumptions are made, games are played and it starts to look a bit dicey for them. Read it and weep!

I wholeheartedly recommend anything & everything by SL Scott. Dirty Talk is another big winner to add to the pile of emotional AND fun reads Scott creates. This one is most definitely a 5 Star read that left me feeling giddy!
