Bestselling author Devon Hartford brings you another scorching hot and scandalous standalone romance.

SOME SECRETS ARE TOO HARD TO KEEP

The night the EMTs rolled Lion Maxwell into my ER turned my life upside down.
Although he was bloody and battered from defending his title as the WMAA’s reigning cruiserweight champion, his cocky grin lit up the room.
And every cell in my body.
Our fiery chemistry was off the charts.
The ER staff sensed it.
Lion’s entourage and his drooling groupies sensed it too.
If the two of us had been alone, I might have done something entirely unprofessional and completely unethical right there in the exam room. But I was his attending physician. A sexual or romantic relationship with him was grounds for my termination or worse, revoking my medical license. I wouldn’t risk my career on a moment of passion. It didn’t stop that arrogant caveman from doing everything he could to get me into his hospital bed.
After denying his advances for weeks, the last thing I expected were the wild nights he would be spending in my bed.
It was supposed to be nothing more than a secret fling.
I knew it couldn’t last.
He was still my patient.
What we were doing was wrong.
If anyone found out, it could ruin my life.
But we couldn’t let go.
We were bound to each other on some primal level that consumed us.
Sometimes love is tragic.
Sometimes two people aren’t meant to be together.
But sometimes, two people overcome all adversity and build a love that lasts forever.
I knew deep in my heart that Lion Maxwell could be my happily ever after.
As long as we kept our love a secret.
I wish I’d known that some secrets are too hard to keep…

As I had just finished another book I could directly dive into “Broken Lion” by Devon Hartford when it appeared on my Kindle.

And I have to say it was not what I expected it to be from the blurb. Well it is exactly like it is described in the Blurb yes but somehow I thought it would be different.

Gosh – how do I explain myself … first things first …

I enjoyed the book it is a solid 4 star – which is great in my world. But still there was something different about the characters and I mean different bordering on strange.

Especially Lion was a walking contradiction… Didn’t that man feel any pain ? Yeah here I am directly in the middle of my “no 5th star for this book” issue … - The issue that is called feeling.

Our female lead Brigid is solid – from all sides – she is solid in her part of this book, solid written and a clear / great character.

But Lion is sorry to says – as equally strange as he is great …. It is difficult to explain my thoughts without spoilers so I try to be vague.

OK.

So from the Blurb we know he is in hospital – so no surprise in me telling you YES he is hurt … but is he hurting … ahm let me check… ahm NO … instead he is so cocky he might be sitting in a bar with his pickup lines….

Maybe that was the reason I had problems to pick up the moment when the playful banter became a real relationship… after a while it worked but still that guy remained strange … I am just thinking about his interactions and thoughts about the cats ..

I would have never expected those from a guy Lets just say … the reader needs to be open minded when it comes to Lion because he changes so fast from sweet and thoughtful to outright strange and annoying in the blink of an eye.

It was my fist book by this author so I am not sure if this character development is a trait of him or not or if it was just special in this book.

Anyway it is different – but not in a bad way. The plot and writing of this story is solid and well developed with characters that are real (when it comes to Brigid) and intriguingly strange (Lion).

I enjoyed my time with this book that I managed to read in one extended session lasting all day yesterday.

4.5 stars. How have I missed Devon Hartford? No idea, but hopefully you won't. Loved. This. Book. First book from this author...definently won't be my last. Lion was book boyfriend material all the way...absolutely adored him. The only reason why I gave this 4.5 stars and not 5 stars was because I didn't always like the way Brigid treated my new book boyfriend and someone needed to take up for him....he's welcome.

Not going to lie, I don't normally read books by male authors....not sure why, but they don't make my radar. Having said that....I have no idea how I missed Devon Hartford. Loved this book so much I already signed up for his newsletter. So now he is the 2nd male author I follow/stalk...lol.

Great writing, I loved the storyline. It had me from the very first page. I loved that Lion was such a down to earth guy, alpha male MMA champion, but still charmingly down to earth. He is gorgeous...inside & out - double check, he likes kids - check, he is faithful and not a cheating dog - check, he is passionate - check & confidently persistent...in a charming way - check. Liked Brigid too....just not quite as much. I understood why she was like she was....but I just have to lean towards my new book boyfriend *winks*.

If you like great books (that are safe) with great male characters and happily ever afters...this is the book for you. And then you can be just as charmed as I am by Devon Hartford's writing....flippin loved this book. #Safe #HEA #Alphamalehotness #bookboyfriend

I gave this book 4.5 Roaring Stars!

Holy smokes this book was on fire. Ladies go ahead and have extra panties and the fire department on. standby because you Kindle will be smoking. From the start to the finish their chemistry is off the charts and you will not be able to put it down. At times it does get old with how Brigid is so worried about her job, but I think it all makes sense that she should be worried.

Lion is a MMA fighter with a past. Brigid is a orthopedic surgeon and meets Lion in the ER after he messed up his knee. When Brigid don't fall for his charm or his python, he knows he needs to up his game and tells her he no longer wants her as his dr.

Brigid takes her son to get ice cream and the see the grand opening for a dojo. Daniel (Brigid son) wants to do it and she is reluctant because Lion is the teacher. It's been a fee months since he was in the ER, she kept telling him that they could only be friends but really wants to cross the line. What happens when Brigid ex finds out that Lion was her patient, will he tell the hospital or will Brigid call it all off?

This was my first book from this author but I definitely want to read more from her!

“Sex with him was so easy and so good. Why did it have to be so wrong?”

5 Lion stars!!! Sexy and so much fun!!

This is the first book I’ve read by Devon, but let me just tell you, after reading this one, it won’t be my last!!! I was sucked in the minute I started reading this book and I became obsessed. I couldn’t put it down. There’s only a handful of male authors books I’ll read, simply because it reads like a man wrote it… but this one was so well written and so well told!!! I fell in love with Lion… I mean what’s not to like about that man!!! Bridgit, is the ultimate female character. I loved these two together, they are perfect together, she’s the perfect balance to his playboy ways. You must read this book!

I was given this book as ARC in exchange for an honest review....
Why did I give this book 5 stars? Well let’s see…
The character names were unique, Brigid Flanagan and Lion Maxwell. I always love when the characters have names that suit their demeanor. Brigid is a workaholic, sexually starved and witty. Lion is slightly hot headed, creative and funny.
I loved the easy banter between the two from the beginning to end of this book. It was vulgar, funny and full of innuendos which made it seem more real. There was no shame in talking about sex no matter how embarrassed Brigid was from time to time. There were times I literally laughed out loud.
The fact that Brigid gave into her needs/wants and ignored the “rules” made her human. And Lion having a softer/creative side was surprising. Who knew a man named Lion would love cats(that wasn’t as surprising to be honest, with the name Lion?)?! Let’s face it, any man that has open dialogue with his cats is awesome! My favorite was Aslan. Just throwing that out there!
And while I don’t like spoilers (so I’ll keep this brief) I have to give a shout out to the relationship Lion builds with Daniel (Brigid’s son) and the challenges that go along with that whole situation. It hit close to home and I enjoyed this addition immensely.
Finally, I can’t ignore the smut factor of this book. Because we all love a good smut-fest from time to time! Who am I kidding, we love that all of the time! And Hartford didn’t disappoint! From the description of the character’s appearances to the scenes themselves, drool worthy.
This was my first time reading Hartford’s work and I’m sure not the last.

Dr. Brigid Flanagan has sacrificed alot for her career. So when a hot sexy MMA fighter ends up in her ER with a knee injury, it takes everything inside her to remain professional and resist his charm. Getting involved with a patient is grounds for termination and having her medical license revoked.

Lion Maxwell is a champion for a reason, when he sets his mind on something there is no stopping him. After seeing the lovely doctor treating him, he knows what he wants. But to be together they will have to break all the rules.

Most of the time you start a book then cross your fingers it will be a gem. Broken Lion by Devon Hartford is definitely a gem!

This book has everything, a hot alpha male, dedicated strong woman, scorching sex and excellent character development.

Lion was everything a serious professional woman like Brigid needed. He was persistent, dirty talking, and also showed a sweet sensitive side. The part with the Irish Spring soap was cute and ingenious! For such a tough hard core MMA fighter Lion wore his heart on his sleeve.

Brigid was a dedicated doctor but what woman could put up a fight against this bad boy cage fighter who likes to get filthy with a woman? I think she got scared at times and maybe that is why she tried to push him away. She was taking a big risk by breaking the rules with Lion.

This is my first book by Devon Hartford and I can't believe I have missed reading this author. The storyline was great, the characters excellent and the ending was a perfect HEA. This book is not to be missed.

Lion Maxwell and Brigid Flanagan are perfect together, except for the fact that she was his doctor for a brief moment and they shouldn't be together, at least ethically. I get that it might be questionable for a doctor and patient to have a relationship outside the doctor/patient one. But when Lion immediately released her from being his doctor in the ER and hired someone else, doesn't that end that doctor/patient relationship? How is she still considered his doctor 3 months later? He's no longer seeing her for what brought him to the hospital in the first place. Maybe my teacher brain is fried and I just don't get it because of all the hours I've been sitting in workshops this week.

Truly, I liked Brigid and Lion. Lion was cocky and relentless in his flirting at first, but when you see him away from his groupies, he's a real down to earth guy that seems to be a lot of fun and is very caring and loving. I loved how Brigid turned on the sex when they finally got together. I kept thinking of the phrase "lady in public and a freak in bed" :) And sweet little Daniel was a great addition to the cast!

This is my first read from Devon Hartford, and I've got to say I quite enjoyed this book it was everything the blurb said and some more. Lion is the Cocky Hot Alpha Male he shows the world, but under neath all that "I'm Lion hear me roar" attitude is a selfless heart warming man with a heart of gold. Brigid is a workaholic who is trying to raise her son while working extremely long hours she's divorced and her son spends equal amount of time with her ex's family this leaves Brigid with feelings that she doesn't spend enough time with her son and feelings of being distant from him. I'm not going to give the whole story away and spoil this read but the relationship that develops not only between Lion and Brigid but between all three is beautiful. And the cats well that was just fun I loved the running cometary with Lions cats especially Aslan!! This read is low on angst there is some drama but I found it an easy read with an enjoyable plot it flowed I laughed at parts and swooned at others.

Grrrrr - another No. 1 best seller

I was gifted this book by my favourite author.

Divorcee Brigid Flanagan's emotions were flipped upside down when she first set eyes in the emergency room on martial arts expert - sinfully handsome and well endowed Lion Maxwell..... never in a million years did workaholic Brigid envisage any kind of relationship with this hunk..... oh how things can change in a few weeks .....

Persistence by Lion turned frigid Brigid into a hot minx. A jealous husband, forbidden relationships and rule breaking ensured this turned into something much, much more.

A lovely stand-alone romantic story.

Devon's books never cease to amaze me - that's why he's my No. 1 choice.

GFI ladies ... you really won't be disappointed :-)

Really enjoyed the happy banter in this book. Devon has away to make the reader feel a range of motions through his sometimes hilarious yet lascivious writing. Never mind fulfilling the readers need for happy endings. Albeit going through the trials and tribulations of the protagonists in this book, the characters of Lion and Brigid are quite opposite which leads to in intriguing reading.
Never mind that Lion is an MMA fighter!!!
All those muscles!!
A recommended read!!!

My first Devon Hartford read was the Samantha Smith trilogy. It was fantastic and I was hooked after that. I've read all of his books and I have to tell you this book is one of my favorites. Brigid and Lion's story was HAWT!!! Good girl meets bad boy. What's better than that? Did I mention he's a MMA fighter with a filthy mouth. Yep!!! A MUST read.

The story started off good for me, and then the more I read it, the more it went downhill.

I liked Lion at the beginning of the book. He seemed fun and alpha. But then, for me at least, the whole story snowballed into a whole different story. It just didn't work for me.

This book was fairly good... It was somewhat captivating, but it lost steam after the 2nd half of the book... Also, the epilogue was seriously lacking...

Other than that, for 99 cents this book is a major bargain..

DNF!

17 pages in and I had to stop reading. Somehow, for me at least, it's disconcerting to think that doctors could be rattled by hot guys and be unprofessional when they're doing their job. Just an instant turn off right there.

I really liked this book and can see the writers development compared to past reads. This is such a sweet easy read, it flows nicely i like the characters. Each character is written in well, with the right amount of depth so that you can visualise knowing them and the situation they are in. Yes Ok Lions a bit OTT but so what? some guys are like that! and its a book!! anything can written in to a story thats the whole point! I will say the writer has done his homework!! I dont do spoilers!
The main female is Brigid she is well written, in depth coverage of her life both in and out of work. She is Lions (main male) Dr in the story when he brought in to A&E due to a sports injury, while she maintains professionalism due to her duty of care, he likes to try and push her buttons. At first he comes over a tad arrogant but as you read in to the story you see the other side to him, and her! It develops well as you go. The book is clear and consistent throughout, I also like the ending again, that is clear in depth, good balance and you are able to get closure to what is a great book.
************RE; DR/PATIENT RELATIONSHIP*********************
I have also read some comments regarding doctor/patient relationships and why it takes so long BEFORE they can become involved on a personal level, the book in itself explains some of it. But in a job where you are working on a close proximity with access to people’s medical history dealing with intimate problems, then it’s not as easy as ''ending the doctor/patient relationship' and then immediately jumping in to a romantic one. There is a vast amount of red tape. 'rules' are in place for very good reasons, to protect both parties, ramifications of doctor/patient relationships are something to be cautious of. You have to prove that you have not taken advantage of the patient, that they are of sound mind, you are questioned as a professional. Boundary violations often bring trouble. It's the doctor's, not the patient's, responsibility to behave ethically at all times. Can you imagine 6 months down the line if it didn't work out the patient can suddenly make all kinds of accusations. The violation of medical ethics. In fact any romantic relationship formed within a situation of in- equal power or authority, be it a doctor and patient, counsellor and their client, teacher/ student/ university professor and student and so forth , it is problematic, the outcome is often dealt with very harshly, the professional being on the receiving end, there is always that code of ethics.
Here’s one to think of. A patient falls for her Dr, she pursues him, eventually he ends the professional relationship to start a romantic one, they date for a period of time. Part way down the line he then finds out that she has been seeing a psychiatrist, she has mental health issues that were not on the medial file at the time, he then finds out she is also been in/is going to be admitted to a psychiatric ward due to some sort of psychotic break. The relationship comes to an end, can you imagine all of the accusations that would come to, because he is was in the ''power'' position and she was not of sound mind. A huge backlash then comes from this. Anyone in this kind of profession should always wait a period of time before romantic involvement, allowing someone else to take over and deal with the case, this also gives the professional time to ask themselves (and think) if this ex patient is doing this based on emotional dependency, is there a influence from a past relationship for the patient, are they of sound mind? Is there any imbalance, this all needs to be looked at before even physically getting involved and this can’t be done in a few days!
Don’t get me wrong, personal relationships can arise in good faith when doctors and the patient meet in a social setting even then the Dr is still leaving open the door to vulnerability of a complaint if the relationship ends acrimoniously

It’s One big can of worms. Keeping a level head and walking away from temptation, or 9 x out of 1o it will ruin your career and life.

I've been eagerly awaiting Mr. Hartford's latest book. And the wait was certainly worth it. We have single mum Brigid who is a doctor. What I love about her is how real and genuine she feels. Having such a demanding job means that she is constantly balancing home and work life. And that means that not every part of her life receives the same amount of attention. She has doubts and questions her actions particularly in regards to her son. Brigid doesn't always feel like the best mother but she is trying to provide for Daniel and give him the best she can. Everyone has self doubt and because of this, I feel as though Brigid could be a woman I meet on the street.

Now we have Lion...

description

Yes, he is definitely a bad little boy ;) Although he isn't lacking in any aspect. Initially, Lion seems like the typical player. Lots of attention, lots of women but when you get down deeper, you realise that the stereotype isn't always true. He is sweet and kind. Especially when it comes to children. Life hasn't always been the easiest for Lion and you just want to hug the pain away for him. But he continues on and fights for what he wants.

description

And don't worry, there are plenty of moments of steam. Enough to fog up a mirror! Here is just a tease:
*His palm continued up my stomach, which spasmed as he slid it across my skin. My arms were up over my head and I looked at him through sleepy eyes.
His flickered black fire. "I'm going to eat you alive, Irish."
"You better," I moaned.*

There are some characters that you can definitely dislike. Like Donald and his parents. I had some strong feelings about that one and they all involved giving him a slap!

description

Both Lion and Brigid try hard to keep their hands to themselves but as Selena Gomez said, why would you want to? ;) It isn't all smooth sailing. So the question we must ask, will Brigid let Lion in? Or will rules tear them apart?

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest release by Mr. Hartford. Great characters, tender moments, laugh out loud scenes and plenty of action ;) There's something for everyone to relate to and enjoy.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

Having never read a book by Devon Hartford but having been encouraged by a fellow reader, I jumped right into Broken Lion and didn't look back. Devon spins a tale of forbidden, passionate, gotta have you love between a straight laced professional and a down and dirty undefeated fighter. They come from completely different worlds and live by different rules but cross paths and soon can't deny the attraction. Brigid and Lion not only break all the rules and cross all the lines, they keep things heated and keep our hearts palpitating in excitement for the next punch, kick, kiss, or lick to be exchanged. You never know what secret or new bout of passion would be unleashed next with these two.

Brigid Flanagan is an orthopedic surgeon who has in the past put her work before her family which ended a marriage and left her regretful and lonely. Now she spends her days and evenings working as much as she can with little to no life outside the hospital. When a new muscled patient comes in sporting nothing but gold lycra boxers with an untamed python inside and a cocky grin, Brigid knows that her ethics are in all kinds of trouble as well as her libido. Brigid is a woman who shoulders a lot of responsibility and guilt over relationship mistakes from the past and has all kinds of rigid values and Lion is just the person to help her bend those rigid values.

When Lion Maxwell was brought into the ER with a mangled knee and a seemingly broken future, little did he know he would encounter a sexy, fiery haired doctor with a temper to match. From the moment he lays eyes on her that night, his life is forever changed and Lion knows that his heart is in for a fight like never before. I couldn't resist this handsome, filthy mouthed, tattooed, tarnished white knight that is willing to go all in for what he wants, whether it is his career or a smart, stubborn doctor with curves in all the right places under her white coat. The more I got to know about this delicious hero the more my heart melted for him.

Devon Hartford delivers a romance with many unique nuances and twists that have to be experienced by the reader themselves as the story unfolds. Brigid and Lion are quirky, funny, hot, and sincere. You can't help but fall in love with the characters as they go along on all their adventurous outings that often end in ways that you would never expect. I highly recommend Broken Lion for a romance that comes outs swinging and beats all the odds!

✯✯4.5 Lion Size Stars!!!✯✯

I don't know how Devon Hartford is a best selling author and I'm legit just hearing his name!? I'm just saying. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book because I've never heard of Devon Hartford before. But, the synopsis caught me and I'm really glad I decided to read this book.

Brigid is a single working mom to her son Daniel, who she shares custody with her ex-husband. She's a Dr who works the night shift. Her life revolves around her son and work. Sometimes her son took a back seat to her career. Brigid doesn't always like it. But, she does the best she can for her and her son.

Lion is a Champion MMA fighter. He's worked hard to get where he's at. And, he's worked very hard. But, he's missing something. When he gets hurt and ends up in the E.R and the beautiful Dr comes in, he's set on what he wants. Except she flat out tells him no.

Brigid goes by the rules. She will not date, sleep or anything with her patients. Lion turns around and gets another Dr. Brigid still says no. Until her and Daniel go into the new dojo that's opened up. With Daniel wanting to join and Lion as the sensi Brigid was in trouble.

Brigid and Lion had such chemistry from the very beginning. There was no way for these two to stay away from each other. Lion never hid feelings, wants and desires for Brigid to himself. For a big, bad, brutal beast of a man in the cage, Lion really was a sweet and caring guy. He loved Brigid and Daniel more then anything. Brigid too was extremely strong. Her ex-husband was a prick and always was even when they were together. I didn't like that she did let her job come before her son at times. I understood that she wasn't going to cross the Dr/patient line. But, I couldn't stand that she'd play games. One minute she's all over Lion and the next it's like she's put him in time out. She's lucky it was Lion. Because, no guy would play by her many different rules.

I am looking forward to my next Devon Hartford read! I don't hear of many male authors. But, this was an excellent book. I read it in a day it was that good. There was plenty of times I was laughing out loud. It was a nice quick standalone.

On my Goodreads account I shelved this book under "annoying-but-I-keep-reading" among other shelves, because it took me a few chapters to warm up to Lion Maxwell. And to appreciate that name. By the end, I was finding room on my ever growing book boyfriend list for him.

Devon Hartford gives his readers quite the handful (in more ways than one) with Lion Maxwell. He is arrogant, cocky and of course gorgeous. And he knows it. Such an irritating combination in a guy. As Lion is in the ER waiting to see how bad his knee is after yet another championship fight, he meets the beautiful Brigid (another name that had to grow on me) and feels and instant attraction towards her.

To say this guy comes on strong is an understatement and I'm glad Brigid could hold her own with him. In her world she is a mother and a doctor first, everything else comes second. Which is also why she finds herself divorced. Brigid is married to her job and has zero time for the likes of Lion Maxwell. No matter how good looking he is.

Relentless. That is what this guy is. He pursues Brigid like no other because he feels there is something real between them. Not caring that Brigid isn't allowed to date patients, Lion uses every trick in his man handbook to win her over.

When she can no longer resist his charms, Brigid finds she really doesn't know Lion Maxwell the regular guy, only the fighter she's heard so much about. He surprises her at every turn and I absolutely loved that about him. That and the witty banter between these two. Sometimes it was extremely corny, but still made me laugh out loud at times.

Too good to be true is what Lion and Brigid are. He has an injury, she's his doctor. She has an ex-husband bothering her constantly, to also throw a wrench in this so called relationship. The book is well written and told from dual points of view. Devon Hartford did a great job at turning my feelings toward Lion around by the end, as well as growing Brigid into a strong female character. She didn't care who Lion Maxwell was, she wasn't taking any of his crap. Broken Lion reads as a standalone and has an epilogue to wrap things up nicely.

Lion is the reigning cruiserweight champion in MMA fighting. What event happened that causes us to see him wheeled into the ER? Who is Brigid and where does she meet Lion? I can see it now, Lion is a man who has the ego to match his body. He is also a man who does not give up once he sets his mind on something or someone. Brigid has a policy against dating certain people. Why? When Lion tries to get her to go against that policy, what happens? When he sends her a gift to work, what is it? What happens days after he sends the item? It was a great idea, in my book. Really a sweet gesture. When Daniel comes home and is dropped off at Brigid's condo, what does he do? Does he even talk to his mother? At 10 years of age, what is the relationship like between them? She gets Daniel to go out to their favorite Mexican food and ice cream. There's a new business opening up and a pretty good crowd standing around outside. What is it and why is Daniel enthralled with it? What happens? When things keep happening that keep pushing Lion and Brigid into the same place, can they be civil towards one another? Can they be friends? When they leave Universal Studios one night, where Brigid is parked is a ways away. What happens on the way to the car? What happens to Brigid and Daniel? What about Lion? Who does he call for a ride home? Why? When Lion and Brigid discuss becoming boyfriend/girlfriend, how much time does Brigid ask for? Why? We keep hearing from Brigid about the Ethics of a Patient and a Doctor not dating. What happens when someone reports her anonymously to HR? Who did it? Who do they suspect? What happens at the ethics committee meeting? Let's just say I was cheering for the interruption that happened. You're going to have to read the book and I DEFINITELY need to watch for more books from Devon Hartford. LOVED IT!

This book was given to me for an honest review.

4 stars

I have liked all of Devon Hartford's books that I have read, and this one is no different. Lion the main character he is rude, he is a holds no bar person, he hides nothing that he feels and he will get what he wants. Lion is this person you want to say eww I can't stand him, but you cant because he is so charismatic that even his awful behavior makes him who he is. I loved Lion, he is powerful, MMA Fighter, and he fights for everything he wants, even if it is his doctor. Devon has this way of putting his character in positions that you wouldn't expect how the story line would go, and this book was no different. Coming into the er after his fight, Lion did something to his knee and was brought to Brigid's er. Now if you know anything about rules there is no way you should be dating your patient, but what if that patient doesn't allow her to say no. Walking into the room Brigid sees nothing but her patient, but Lion has a different look, that look he is going to get what he wants. With all of his advances, Brigid says no and hopes that the end of it, but here's the thing fate has a funny way of working. I love to give you all the details of the is book, but just let me tell you, it is not going to be easy. With rules and regulations, what chance do they have. With an ex that isn't over Brigid and of course we need to factor in her son, there are so many obstacles before anything if anything will happen. This book is a great story, a story that was told that had enough of a twist in it to keep your interest all the way through the book. There is never a dull moment when it comes to Lion and Brigid, with everything that goes on you never know how it is going to end.

I love Devon Hartford's books, I read everyone one when they come out and I am never disappointed. The characters always have an uniqueness to them that makes you love them. He draws you in and doesn't let you out until the book is done. This is one of those books. I can't wait to see what he comes up with after this, because they only seem to get better every time he writes.

Meet your next book boyfriend Lion Maxwell.

Some secrets are hard to keep.

The night the EMT's wheeled Lion Maxwell into my emergency room turned my life upside down.

From these first two paragraphs you are intrigued as to what secrets are about to unfold.

Lion Maxwell is the current reigning cruiser weight champion of mixed martial arts. After his latest fight he is wheeled into the ER and that's where he meets Dr Brigid Flanagan the attending physician.

Before meeting Lion, Brigid and Latisha Brown the charge nurse have a wonderful banter going, and at one point Latisha is talking about how sexy Lion is and she comes out with "On account of my lady parts perspiring". I laughed at this description I loved it. Lion is described as stubborn, arrogant, ego driven and a sexy python packing man whore. When Brigid meets him there are fireworks and not always of the good variety. Although she loves his voice when he talks his voice is commanding low and dangerous and oh so delicious.

You will fall in love with Brigid and Lion. They are warm, funny sexy and oh boy do they steam up the pages with their story. (Fans herself) The characters are well written and they grow to become people that you love and want to triumph against their secrets. The characters especially Brigid are believable she is not a super model or wonder women she is someone who is like all of us and doing the best she can. Their story is exciting and very well written. Devon takes us on a wonderful journey about how a very sexy well built man can see an everyday girl who is amazingly beautiful on the inside as on the outside.

This book is a standalone novel and is from one of my very favourite authors. I know that when I read a book from Devon I tell everyone that I have a hot date and can't be disturbed, I just sit back and enjoy a hot steamy read with a very sexy leading man. Devon has never disappointed me he delivers every time.

************ Gifted copy ****************

I just finished Broken Lion and all I can say is ROAR! This is my first read from this author and won't be my last. As an avid book nerd, I read all types of novels and many different authors but primarily I read female authors. Well, I was pleasantly surprised with Lion and Brigid's story all coming from the creative mind of a male author. Well Done!

Broken Lion follows the love story of Lion Maxwell and Brigid Flanagan. Lion is a super hot MMA fighter suffering a possible career ending injury. Brigid, a divorced, orthopedic doctor has the pleasure of treating Lion in the ER. The consultation brought these two more than they bargained for because the electricity between the two crackled and no one was spared...not even Candy... LOL! Their love story spins out of control as their attraction spill out of the hospital due to Lion not taking no for an answer. a, which for the setting of the story is totally agains the rules. They face a number of obstacles, yet they find their way to each other.

Lion Maxwell character had muscles upon muscles and the biggest one thumped for Brigid. I loved the cockiness mixed with tons of heart. I loved that he had a down to earth quality behind his MMA persona. I also loved the name of the cats....awesome touch. The author does a wonderful job with the depth of his characters and his plot twists by adding meat to his twists by broaching several heavy subjects such as : working single motherhood, ethics between Doctor/patient, and life after prison. My only point of contention with this great story is it got slow in some parts and had some repetitiveness. I also found myself frustrated with Brigid when she was indecisive... I wanted to say noooo be the assertive woman you can be.

Broken Lion is a solid 4 - 4.5 stars for me and this author's other books just got added to my TBR mountain....yay!

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review and absolutely loved it you can't help but fall for the cocky bad boy & the hard working doctor and the adorable Daniel.
Brigid is an attending physician at L.A Central hospital. She doesn't have time for dating even though some hot people and hot sexy uniformed guys parade through the ECU on a daily basis. Lion Maxwell ends up in the ECU and any other hot guy she's met are non-existent. Lion is hot, has big bulging muscles everywhere, dangerously gorgeous with a massive cocky arrogant ego. He's a major flirt and her brain is not in Dr mode. Lion goes all out trying to win her over but he's been her patient and she can't date a patient that's against hospital regulations. she also has her son to think about.
Lion is a fighter and goes after her with a vengeance she has no hope of resisting him. Between her ex-husband and the medical board they don't stand a chance at the love they share.

Lion Maxwell is a cage fighter after his championship win he ends up at the ECU with a busted up knee with a party of his team and groupies in tow. He might not be able to fight again. He gets a sexy hot doctor and wants her badly. He sends gifts, messages but she won't have none of it so he needs to up his game. Bridgid finally gives in to him and he also gets her son as a package deal who he also loves. Things don't go as planned with their relationship and he is friend zoned because of hospital policy. He agrees to wait for Brigid for a set amount of time because he loves her and will do anything for her and her boy Daniel. Between the hospital and her ex interfering wanting him to back away from them both.

What will happen when the truth about their relationship is out?
Will he ever be able to cage fight again?
Will they all get their HEA?
