What a surprise to see Pippa being set up when she is usually the one doing the matchmaking. Pippa meets one of her brother's friends, Eric, when he is in town on business for a few months. Eric is widowed with a young daughter, Julia, who loves designing jewelry. She's thrilled when Pippa offers to mentor her for a couple of weeks. Since Eric's world revolves around his daughter he sees Pippa a lot. Neither of them want relationships but as they spend more time together they start to have deep feelings and attraction for each other. This is another great book in The Bennett Family series that can't be missed. The writing is smooth making it easy to follow the storyline. I liked Pippa's determination to overcome her marriage and her ex's betrayal and still believe in love, helping her family find their special someone. Eric was irresistible. He was the kind of man that was tough in business but a pushover when it came to his daughter. And very sexy too. I really liked Julie and the way all the Bennett's looked out for her. I want Pippa to be my friend. She is a lot of the glue in the Bennett family, she is also the matchmaker of the bunch but in this story, her siblings turn the tables on her. Pippa is an amazing business woman but her first husband really did a number on her and left her emotionally scarred, believing she’s not worthy or ever going to find love. When Eric Callahan comes to San Francisco to expand his business, his daughter Julie becomes the catalyst to put him directly in Pippa’s path. Julie is an aspiring jewelry designer so Pippa offers to help coach her before she starts a design class. Eric is jaded, he lost his wife in a car accident that almost took Julie too. He’s focused solely on Julie and giving her the best life possible so connecting with Pippa isn’t on his radar but he can’t seem to get her out of his mind. There is great chemistry between Pippa and Eric with Julie providing a great foil to them both with Pippa’s siblings assisting to get these two together. But can they get past their baggage and open their hearts to love again and possibly being hurt? I love the Bennett family and Layla Hagen has a fabulous writing style that makes me feel like I’m living the tale and that these characters could be my friends. A wonderful balance of love, humor with just the right amount of sexiness and drama to keep me turning the page.

The Bennett family are a symbol of what every family should aspire to be. United in life, bonded in heart and a force to be reckoned with. Her heart is large enough to include not just her family, but co-workers and anyone in need of TLC. Her vulnerability also made her an easy target and in the process left a bruised soul. Eric knows about pain and loss. His experience has left him a protective single father with a good head for business but no time for love. What I enjoy about Layla Hagen is her knack for turning darkness into sunshine. Her emotional stories are full of wonderful characters and give hope and happiness in times of hardship. Food for the soul.
