Our favorite Billionaire Bad Boys are back in Carly Phillips newest installment Going Down Fast. In this book we meet Maxie, a long time friend, sister-in-law and unfortunately the one who got away for Lucas. Lucas is drool worthy; he is kind, compassionate, sensitive and sexy. He is also very protective of the ones he loves and that quality comes out strongly when Maxie is involved. Lucas has known Maxie since they were children and has been in love with her just as long. He was the geeky computer and video nerd who was constantly bullied so he never expressed his feeling to her. Years later he lost his chance to ever find out if they could be more when he older brother married the love of his life. Maxie has always dreamed of a chance with Lucas. She has been head over heels in love with him since they were teenagers but they drifted apart when they both left for college. Years later she was still carrying a torch for him but when his brother told her that he was engaged to another woman she decided to move on. When Keith (Lucas’s brother) starts asking Maxie out she decides it’s time to move on. Even though the two men are completely different in personality Keith is still sweet and loving then it suddenly changes. After several tragedies, including the death of her husband, Maxie seeks help and refuge from the only person who has really ever been there for her, Lucas. Maxie knows Lucas and his brother never had a great relationship but can she hurt the man she loves further by exposing the lies and deceptions that has kept them apart for so many years. Now is the change for them to finally have the opportunity for the life they both have always wanted if they are just willing to give it a chance. Ms. Phillips out did herself with this book. I loved these two characters. They had great chemistry from the beginning and I could really feel the heartache that both characters went through along with the love the have for each other. Great story and a fabulous addition to this hot and sexy series. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

Going Down Fast is the second book in Carly Phillips newest series, the Billionaire Bad Boys. Lucas was a nerd growing up. He was bored in school and bullied by other kids, especially his older brother Keith. He ended up dropping out of college only to become a multi-billion in the tech world. Keith was the popular kid, into playing sports, and besting everyone else, including his Lucas. Keith even manipulated the girl Lucas cared for by lying to her, telling her Lucas was engaged, and getting her to marry him. Maxie Sullivan cannot believe all the lies her husband, Keith, told before he died. He was unfaithful, gambled, embezzled money from his law firm, stopped paying the life insurance policy, and took out a second mortgage without telling her any of this. It is only after his death that sure learns of all of this. Icing on the cake is losing her job at his law firm because of his sins. Lucas has been her best friend since they were kids. Maxie always thought Lucas was her future and regrets marrying the wrong brother. Lucas offered Maxie a place to live until she is able to support herself. He has never stopped loving Maxie and struggled with the way his brother treated her. Now these two have a chance to rewrite their future. This book is definitely hot and sexy with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book to other readers.

***4.5 Stars*** And we have another winner! Which is a beautiful thing, but now I’m torn between Kade and Lucas *heavy sigh and shrug* I’ll just take both *BSEG* It was a sweet, sexy, funny and heartbreaking read and I was hooked from the start and had a difficult time putting it down (I didn’t even bother trying to hide and use the app on my phone). I adored Lucas. Here’s a guy who was a geek, got bullied and yet came out on the other side of all that crap not only being a billionaire, but a sweet, caring, charismatic and sexy beast. He knows he’s smart. He knows he can basically get anything he wants and yet there isn’t an arrogant bone in his body. Is he confident? Hell yeah, but he hasn’t crossed that line into being an a$$hat. He’s taken his own experiences and is using them help others who are like him. Maxie. God, I feel for the woman. She’s been through hell and is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and find the woman she was always supposed to be before things went down the drain. I loved her strength and sweetness and while her need to stand on her own two feet sometimes frustrated me, okay irritated me, I understood why she needed to draw the lines that she did. At it’s heart, their relationship is very much a friends to lovers story, but there is soooo much more to it. Like, “Are you serious?” level of so much more going (doncha love spoiler free reviews??) it made my head spin and heartbreak for both of them. But I loved them together, even when things got a little awkward, they still felt right and the sexual tension between them was sizzling. The ease of their interactions and the trust that was there, even when it didn’t seem that was, made it fun, and frustrating, to watch as they worked things out between them. I have to say that Ms. Phillips kept me on my toes with this one from start to finish. I swear my eyes almost popped out of my head as I read the prologue and first chapter because it wasn’t at all what I was expecting after reading the blurb, but it hooked me and I had to see how everything played out. I loved getting to hang out with Kade, Lexie and even Kendall and getting to know Derek a little more. Derek’s book is the next one up and my curiosity is definitely peaked because I’m wondering if a situation that arose in this book is the catalyst to his own HEA. Also, there appears to be another possible story in the works, so we’ll see if my gut is correct or I’m just trying to ensure I get to spend more time with these characters. ~ Copy received from RockStar PR and voluntarily reviewed ~
