For the final episode of The Nightly Show on Thursday night, Larry Wilmore will bring back his old friend Jon Stewart, EW can exclusively reveal.

In an interview with EW before the finale, Wilmore divulged a few details about what will surely be an emotional episode for the canceled Comedy Central series.

"We're just going to be simple [Thursday] night," the host said in an interview Wednesday. "We're gonna do a little reminiscing. I'm going to talk to all the contributors — although Mike Yard and Ricky Velez unfortunately aren't going to be here because they already had plans to be away. But everybody else should be around. Jon Stewart is going to drop by, and I'm going to talk to him. So he'll be popping in."

Wilmore and Stewart, of course, have had a long relationship together. Wilmore served as The Daily Show's long-running "Senior Black Correspondent" for years during Stewart's tenure, and Stewart played a big role in the spin-off's developmenthe serves as an executive producer alongside Wilmore and is credited as the creator. Stewart would regularly end his show by throwing to Wilmore, a tradition that ended when Trevor Noah replaced Stewart.

In recent interviews, Wilmore noted how much Stewart's departure from The Daily Show affected The Nightly Show's ratings. "That was a huge lead-in loss," Wilmore told Fast Company.

When asked what he and Stewart had planned for the final episode, Wilmore told EW, "You'll just have to wait and see."

The Nightly Show's finale airs Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
