Naked Trump Could Be All Yours

Inconceivably, of all the Naked Trump statues erected around the country, only LA's was unmolested, and now it's on the auction block.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Can’t get enough of Donald Trump? If you think there is no such thing as too much Trump, then you could be the owner of Naked Trump, the life-sized statue that appeared on Hollywood Boulevard to sear unsuspecting retinas earlier this month.

The statute, a graphic representation of the presidential contender in the buff officially titled "The Emperor Has No Balls," will be auctioned off in October. A portion of the proceeds will go toward an immigrant rights advocacy group.

The statue was one of several placed in prominent locations around the country, including New York, San Francisco, Cleveland and Seattle, by a guerilla-art collective known as INDECLINE. The Hollywood statue was the only Naked Trump that wasn’t dismantled or defaced, according to Julien's Auction.

Employees at the La Luz De Jesus art gallery moved the statue from the sidewalk to the stoop of their building to ensure it would not be dismantled by city crews, according to Toni Martinez, a floor manager for Soap Plant & WACKO, a gift and bookstore also owned by the gallery.

Elsewhere around the country, Naked Trump suffered indignities and misadventures.

Public works departments in San Francisco, New York and Cleveland dismantled Trump. In Cleveland, Naked Trump sits in city storage, where its owner was given 30 days to claim it.

Naked Trump fared no better in New York after popping up in Union Square.

"NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small," the city's parks department said in a statement.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio piled on, noting, "When he's wearing clothes I don't like him."

In San Francisco, Naked Trump was taken into police custody almost as quickly as it appeared. San Francisco Supervisor Scott Weiner told NBC he wanted to spring Naked Trump and put it up at Lefty O'Doul's sports bar to remind one and all of Trump's "ridiculousness through the elections."

The statue was made by a Las Vegas-based artist who goes by the moniker "Ginger." He spent up to 25 hours a week since April working on the statutes, according to The Washington Post.

“Starting on the project and looking at his face day in and day out when I’d come home, I began to build up some resentment,” Ginger said. “The straw that broke the camel’s back was when he made fun of the disabled reporter from the New York Times.”

An anonymous spokesman for INDECLINE told The Post he didn’t expect the statues to survive long, much less raise money at auction.

“I don’t expect these things to last more than 30 or 45 minutes,” the spokesman for INDECLINE said at the time. “But I would love to watch some irate 65-year-old Trump supporter try to take the thing down with his bare hands.”

The Naked Trump statue will be on display at Julien's Auctions Los Angeles gallery, 741 N. La Cienega Blvd., from Oct. 17 to Oct. 22. The auction will be conducted live and online in two sessions on Oct. 22. The auction house is estimating the statue will be sold for between $10,000 and $20,000.

The auction house will sell it as part of its "Street Art and Contemporary Art" auction, including works by artists such as Bansky, Keith Haring, John Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Shepard Fairey.
