Millicent Valentine is a woman in love—and it scares the shit out of her. Pushing away the keeper of her heart felt like her only option, but it doesn’t take her long to realize she was wrong. She may be frightened to admit it, but to deny how much she needs him is a lie unworthy of the effort.

Sage McCoy is a man on the brink of success—but living the dream isn’t enough anymore. So long as the woman he loves isn’t by his side, he knows he’ll never have it all. He won’t give up on her, but his resilience has only just begun to be tested.

Regret. Forgiveness. Loss. Love. The discordant sounds of reality write their song—but through the dissonance, their love plays on.

The discordance that exists between my girl and me is the mountain I face.

Worthy of the Dissonance is the second installment in the Mountains & Men series, it opens up where Worthy of the Harmony left off and brings us immediately back into the story of Millie and Sage, a couple who hasn't figured out how to defy the odds of a long distance romance. Sage is finally achieving his dreams, at twenty-one he's on a massive tour with his band, Mountains & Men, but he's distracted by the girl he left behind, the girl who let go of their relationship with no faith he'd return. Millie is still hurting from her past, confused by the whys and hows of what made her upbringing so different than others. Her faith in love is only due to the connection she has forged with Sage, a connection she severed. When they are finally reunited it isn't as easy anymore, but together they face Millie's past and look towards a future that includes them together even as Sage grows increasingly more famous.

He's here. I'm here. We're far from perfect, but we're nowhere near finished-just as he promised.

Talk about a change of pace, Worthy of the Dissonance brings so much character development to Millie and gives readers a look at who she really is, all while tying the bonds of her relationship with Sage tighter. While readers have known Sage from the start, Millie has been an emotional character with very little backstory. R.C. Martin manages to keep her the same character, while providing more detail to the lack of family life she talks about, explains more of her relationship with her mom, and brings in some unwelcome people from her past. Sage, ever the perfect boyfriend, stays with her through it all and I love him for it. These two are a unique couple, by definition they should not work, but they do and their chemistry and connection outweighs the differences. WotD is built on angst, drama, SMUT, and incredibly heartwarming moments that bring the reader closer not only to Millie and Sage, but the rest of the band and the friends and family that surround them.

Would rather you just hold me
Would rather you just stay here
Would rather, baby, anything but
This

I really enjoyed this installment of Mountains & Men, especially with the development of Millie's background and the involvement of so many secondary characters. Worthy of the Dissonance definitely surpassed Worthy of the Harmony for me, I felt a connection with Millie and Sage, as well as felt like I had stakes in how their relationship worked out. R.C. Martin not only improved on her characters, but the story line is one that is incredibly interesting and has many facets to keep readers interested. I can't wait for the third and final installment.

There is only one Sage Lawrence McCoy. He's earned my heart, and I don't want it back.
The best thing about RC Martin's writing? It's the utter definition of romance.

Spending time in the Mountains & Men world with Sage and Millie is like being surrounded by a warm blanket on a cold night, cuddled up with the person you love most in the world --> you can insert whatever scenario you find appealing of course, but you get the idea. I love this series.

And while no book is perfect and I could mention a few things that I didn't like about this one, I'm not going to. There's just too much on the other side of the scale. With its focus on love, family, loyalty, following your dreams, and self-discovery, I can't say enough good things about Worthy of the Dissonance.

If sweet love and romance - with a hint of an edge to it - are what you're looking for, you should read this book. Then you too can sigh aloud when Millie says:
"You're my home, Sage - you're my home, and I love you so much."

Regret. Forgiveness. Loss. Love. The discordant sounds of reality write their song—but through the dissonance, their love plays on.

MY THOUGHTS:
This is not a standalone novel and this series must be read in order! The last book ended on a cliff hanger and I picked right up and dove right in. What a mess Millie made of things and they both are dearly paying for her decision!

Millie and Sage definitely went through a rough patch and it was a bumpy ride, but they found a way to make it work for them. I was happy to see the band support both Millie and Sage as they work through their issues, but pushed Sage to get his head on straight.

I truly love this series and these characters! It is so well written and the sexy times are HOT! You definitely get more insight into Millie’s past and why she has issues; my heart hurt for her. Sage is the ultimate book boyfriend and their chemistry is still burning up the pages. Sage and Mountains & Men are making their sound heard across the country and making new deals. The secondary characters are awesome!

This was such a great installment in this series and it ends in quite the cliffhanger. I didn’t see that one coming and I can’t wait to see how it all works out. I don’t want to give anything away so you will have to read it!

My favorite book in the series so far. When I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it wondering if everything was going to be okay between Sage and Millie. I am now so emotionally invested in these amazing characters and just want them to get the HEA they deserve.

Sage is my #1 book boyfriend ever! I seriously am in love with this man! I have been anxiously awaiting for this book because I just couldn't stand thinking of him being so heartbroken from the previous book. I devoured this book in hours and I loved every single word.

"You make my heart sing. You're my best girl, baby. I love you because I can't help it. "

RC Martin has fast become one of my favorite authors ever. Her books have so much depth and emotion to them. I feel like her characters are my family and I am so invested in them.

"I love her deep and I love her hard. My muse. My inspiration. My girl, worthy of more than an encore, lights up my world. "

Millie is the perfect person for Sage. She has a little sass to her. Millie isn't afraid to stand up to him and she loves him as fiercely as he loves her. They complete each other in a way that makes you believe in true soul mates. I can't wait to read the conclusion to this epic love story!

"My girl is worthy of the dissonance, and our song will play on. "

Worthy of the Dissonance is volume 2 of the Mountains & Men series. If volume one, Worthy of the Harmony, was Sage’s story, then this is Millie’s story. We find out more about her past and why she was so afraid to give her heart to completely to Sage. We find out about her relationship, or lack thereof with her parents, and how this shaped her into the person she was until the day Sage sung his way into her life and put the music into her heart.
Millie’s life was filled with disappointment and people leaving her. She has finally made a life on her own terms and then Sage came storming into her life. He turned her carefully laid out world upside down. Is she ready to open herself up to the possibility of letting people in and finding out what family is all about? With Mountains & Men finally getting the breaks they have been hoping for, will Sage be able to show Millie that real men stick around, that sometimes dreams can change, and that sharing your dreams with the person you love makes it that much sweeter?
I anxiously awaited this installment of Sage and Millie’s story. I needed to know if these two were going to survive the break Millie said she needed, leaving not only them miserable, but me as well. I dove right into this book filled with hope and anticipation. Ms. Martin had me twisted up in knots at the beginning of the story. I was biting my nails wondering if they were going to survive the hurt and come out stronger. This story was filled with tense times, sad times and hopeful and happy ones as well. More than once I found myself with a tissue in my hand struggling to read through the tears only to turn around and have a huge goofy grin on my face. It was touching and heartwarming at times and hot and sexy the next moment, just like Sage. Sage will make your heart and panties sing with his dirty mouth and sweet lyrics.
The ending of Worthy of the Dissonance will leave you hungry for more. Luckily for us, the final installment of Sage and Millie’s portion of the Mountains & Men series, Worthy of the Melody, will be coming out soon. I am eagerly awaiting the resolution to their story, and to see if they will finally get the HEA they deserve.
Sage and Millie are definitely worthy of a 5-star review!

Wow I am really enjoying the Mountains and Men Series! Love the characters in the story. They are a band but they are more than that. They are a family who have each other's back and those important to their family members.

Millie's father left when she was 6 and her mother wasn't much of a mother to her. Millie was not nurtured by her mother like Sage was by his mother. He has a family with parents, sisters and more. Her heart was broken so long ago by her parents that she guards her heart and pushes Sage away.

Sage and Millie have grown very close but Millie is in denial of her feelings for Sage. Millie is reluctant to offer up her heart, like she offers up her body to him. But she can't deny him. She still doesn't trust that Sage will stay. She feels that with the success Mountains and Men are continuing to gain that he will forget her and move on. She will be left behind yet again.

Sage is not giving up the fight to keep his woman by his side. He is able to write songs with her being in his life. She is his muse.

I recommend you read this continuation of Sage and Millie's story along with the growing success of Mountains and Men! This is a must read and can't wait for the next book. Must read!

Worthy of the Dissonance is the second book in the Mountains and Men series. It continues from where Worthy of Harmony ended in a cliffhanger that had your head spinning, wanting to knock sense into Millie and Sage, and feeling so many emotions.

We are brought back to Millie and Sage trying to figure out how to make a long distance relationship work. Their reconciliation not the greatest moment, Sage making me hate him for his treatment of Millie and making me empathetic to Millie wanting to leave. But like all EPIC loves they over come their mountains and brave what's to come together.

Sage shows Millie he's not going anywhere and that his family is her family now. Having to deal with the loss of her mother and her absent father showing up out of the blue, he shows her that he has her back and that her newfound family does to.

We are left wanting more, knowing that there is yet another mountain they need to climb. This one, sure to pick up in the next installment.

One thing you know is that this is an EPIC love between two people, one that will defy the odds and reach for the stars!

This book is not a standalone, and this story picks up straight on from where Worthy of the Harmony ends. I never thought it was possible when I started reading this series to love the characters more with each book, but it is happening! Sage and Millie are perfect for each other, and support each other no matter what. When Millie finally admits to herself about her feeling for Sage, she finally feels at peace and complete. When her past comes back to haunt her and she has to face her childhood issues, it is heartbreaking, but Sage is with her every step of the way.
This author has done an awesome job in writing this storyline with the depth and emotion which she does. These stories are certainly a rollercoaster journey of a ride. I cannot wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

NOT A STANDALONE!!!! This book picks up right where Worthy of Harmony left off. In WOH we were left with a cliffhanger and we got answers and RC did not disappoint. Sage and Millie's relation is growing and Sage's band is getting bigger. I know I said before that I loved this series but I really do and I know if you read it you will too. One thing about this book you will be left with a cliffhanger so RC HURRY UP and write write write!!!

This is the second book of a trilogy featuring the band Mountains & Men, most specifically, the lead singer, Sage, and the love of his life, Millie. The full series comprises a prequel (Encore Worthy), book 1 (Worthy of the Harmony), this book, as well as book 3 (Worthy of the Melody). I reread this book -- actually this and books 0.5 and 1 -- when I got hold of a copy of book 3. (I'd read these originally in 2016.)

Sage McCoy is young and loving life as the lead singer of the rock band Mountains & Men. They're a local band, but could be on the verge of something big. Millicent (Millie) Valentine is a math professor at the local community college. She isn't looking for love. She had that dream killed by absent and unloving parents. She relies on the comfort and logic of numbers. Sage and Millie embark on a love affair after meeting at one of his concerts. Book 1 is the start of their relationship and ended when the band was offered a big break. Millie preemptively broke things off with Sage -- because he'll just leave her when he makes it big. Thus starts the middle part of their story.

Sage is on the road. Millicent is home. He calls her daily, several times a day. She won't answer. She can't. The thought that she could lose -- is losing -- Sage has her paralyzed. She goes through the motions of life, but is not living. Neither is Sage. He loses himself in the music, but offstage, he's lost. This is the story of how they reconnect, of how Millie finally admits she loves him, and of how they pledge to move on together. Millicent goes through some familial upheaval, but comes out stronger. Millicent is still scared. She doesn't know how to do "family" since she never had role models for that. She's still fearful that she and Sage will grow apart. Sage is her strength and vows they'll make it. He makes her believe it.

Then, something happens and... CLIFFHANGER! ACK! This is when I found out it was a trilogy! I guess I should have verified it after book 1's surprise, but I didn't. And, I wasn't lucky enough that book 3 was available. I had to wait. It wasn't until two years later that I finally got back to the series. Onward to books 3.

As with the previous two books, this didn't disappoint -- until the ending of course! I was heartbroken at what Millie and Sage faced in this book. Again, the dual points of view allow us to feel the emotions of both characters, from the pain they put one another through, to their joy, to their love, etc. I love that Sage is patient with Millie's anxieties and baggage. You can feel how much he loves her in his actions and his words. The only thing he's not willing to do is let her pull away from him. He keeps telling her they're in it together -- until she believes it.

(4 stars)

This is one of those stories that you MUST read the previous books, as the last one ended in a cliffy. So Worthy of Harmony book 1, ended with Millie ending things with Sage, and Sage having to leave for a six week tour. Sage isn't dealing with this absence and with the silence from Millie too well. When she is talked into going and surprising Sage half-way through, things don't really go the way that Millie had intended them to go, in fact, Sage storming off and leaving her, didn't really enter the plans. Will Millie get Sage to understand why she broke up with him? Or will Sage only understand that Millie has no faith and trust in their relationship?

So once again we find this ending in a cliffy, with of course a huge secret. I found myself not liking Millie for some of this, and then the author pulls out some huge drama that makes you understand why Millie thinks the way she does. This has some of the hottest sexy times, add the ton of drama and this gets 4 stars.

Another winner

Worthy of the Dissonance is book 3 in the Mountains and Men series and please note you do want to read these books in order. It picks up where Worthy of the Harmony leaves off and Sage and Millie are both miserable as they are separated while Mountains and Men is on tour.

I thought Millicent continued to show nice character growth through the story ( I especially loved her at the end leading up to the cliffhanger) and all the elements I loved from the first two books continue here. For instance, Sage's persistence in spite of Millie's fears, the great secondary characters, and the deeper more heartfelt moments followed by lighter, funnier ones which gives the story a really nice balance and pace.

My one (minor) quibble with the story is the appearance of someone from Millie's past; while I understand why it was necessary for the growth of Millie's character, the sequence wrapped up very quickly and without further mention. I don't know if this character will be reappearing in the next book, but as it stands, I was left with some questions and this subplot just felt a little incomplete for me.

Still, another winner and I'm looking forward eagerly to the next book. 4.5 stars

5+ stars.
The more I read about Mountains and Men, the more I love them. I feel a part of their lives. I love Sage so hard! That boy can have my heart! I know it'll be safe with him. I still feel how fragile Millie is. I can't fault the writing or the storyline. It just flows along at a perfect rate.
Millie is getting stronger with Sage's love and constant reassurance and support in all areas of her life. He is always saying and doing the right thing. The band's success is building now and we are finding more obstacles for Millie to overcome. I really can't wait to read more about their story. I find it so heartwarming that a group of barely 20 year olds are so focused and loyal to each other and the people in their lives.
With the band's success getting them more tours and an album released, their time really seems to be arriving. Fast!
Millie is dealing with her mother and other dramas but she'll get there, with Sage's help.
I really think you need this whole series in your life!

This is the best rock romance series I have read in a while. Every book is 5 stars so far and I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the final installment.
This story had me glued to my Kindle. It picks up right at the end of book 1 and we go on a pretty heavy emotional ride. My heart was actually breaking for Sage and if my younger self didn't share a few behaviours as Millie I might of not liked her for how she upset him.
Sage again is so book boyfriend worthy. He is such a combination of sexy rock god with loving, devoted boyfriend. His ability to see through Millie is beautiful to read. We also see Millie grow in this book too which only makes their relationship stronger.
I could rave about this book all day. There was nothing I did't love. The story is awesome, the characters are written so well they feel real to me. I feel so blessed to have found this series.

This is my favorite series by her so far and I cannot get enough of the sexy rocker, Sage. SWOON!!!!!
I enjoy reading about Millie and Sage's journey as they grow in their relationship. There were times I was frustrated with Millie for being so stubborn and nearly wrecking her relationship with Sage. I was able to relate to her on many levels, so it made for a decent read.
There were times that I felt like Millie's character fell short and was too needy and unstable. Much unlike how she was when she was first introduced to us in So Much More. It left me rolling my eyes as I read. I wish Millie would carry on stronger than she is portrayed in this installment.
This is a 3.5 for me, but I will finish the series to what is in store for Sage and Millie!

Wow! I still can not get enough of Sage and Millie! They are made for each other! Millie has tried to fight her feelings for Sage, and has wondered if she was really worthy of his love. When she finally realizes she can't live without him, she feels complete. They will get through everything together; his touring that will separate them for long periods of time, her issues with her childhood and her family. Sage is determined to be there for Millie through every up and down and support her, as she has supported him. To Millie, Sage is her home. To Sage, Millie is his muse. I can't wait to see what is next for this amazing couple!

I loved this book!!! Millie and Sage did not dissapoint, wow!!
Worthy of the Dissonance is not a standalone, this is the second book of the Mountains and Men Series and you should read two more books before this one.
I love how things are turning out for Millie and Sage in this book! They've been through so much, specially Millie, and it's like finally they start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Millie's character is simply fascinating, she grows so much as a person in this one, Sage's patience and love is so crucial for her to change and become this strong, level headed woman who is a far cry from the Millie we met at the beginning. It was really interesting to watch her transformation before our eyes. There's so much depth in these characters that you don't miss a single thing about what they're thinking or feeling. And you feel with them and also fall pretty hard for them! Sage is a cutie pie, so loving and caring and so adamant about giving Millie a good life and showing her she's worthy of all the love and afffection she gets.
Once again, the secondary characters play an important part in the story. The guys in the band and Sage's family, they're so much fun, simply awesome, and you get to see a lot from them in this one too!
This book has a lot of twists and surprises, so be prepared to be swept away! The end is an OMG moment, I have to go get Worthy of the Melody like RIGHT NOW since I'm dying to know what's next!
Overall this book leaves you with a smile on your face and a strong believe that love can move mountains, break all the walls and soften the hardest of hearts!
