The title is very accurate!

If you enjoy sizzling, steamy erotic romances with a lot of dirty talk and even more filthy action, you will love this book. It is heavy on the sexy times and the story is good as well, though I would expect a more intricate story for a book this long (300+ pages).

The characters are well developed, even the supporting characters. The Hero is Oliver Powell, a 30 year old NFL star running back who wants to win a super bowl this year. He knows he only has a few more years in him before retirement and he thinks this will be his best chance. The team came close the previous year and this year they picked up a new quarterback who is a rising star.

The heroine is Shannon Hale, sister of Beaux Hale the new Quarterback. She basically raised Beaux though she is only three years older and she sacrificed a lot to give him his football dreams. She took him to all his practices, threw the ball around with him, payed for his college and more. She just got out of a long relationship when she found her fiancé cheating on her at a party his boss was throwing for them.

The attraction between her and Oliver is immediate, but he is jaded after his ex wife left him right after he got traded from New England to a team in the south, she wanted to stay in the city where she could shop and have fun. Since then he only does one night stands. Beaux tells Shannon to stay away from Oliver, but that doesn’t work for long. Then one night just isn’t enough for either of them.

The book is fun and five flames worth of heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and definitely a good read if you’re in the mood to get down and dirty.

This was my first book from this writer. The writing is good, it made me feel. It is written in dual point of view and it is what it promises to be: A light and hot sports novel.

The characters are fine - likable, at least. The book is heavily based on physical connection - there are too many sex scenes. Although I didn't like them all, they are written in a passionate way.

The emotional connection is also there but the dialogues that caused them to connect deeply are not given, they are just a summary, such as we talked about this and that... etc. That causes a lack of depth, unfortunately.

As for safety, it is safe-ish :) with exceptions. There is her ex and his ex, trying to cause a little bit of drama but it is no big deal. There is something which might bother some readers, though. At the beginning, the hero sleeps with other women to get the heroine out of his mind while he thinks she belongs to someone else - so it is not 100% safe but I didn't mind it much.

The plot twist is one that has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I hated it. He slowly falls in love with her and she does the same. And then, something happens and he blames her for no reason at all. He just acts like a dick for no reason! And for a few days, he doesn't contact her and apologize. Once again, he doesn't immediately go after her and explain / apologize. When he does, it felt a bit too late for me although it is still a few days later. He sincerely says he is sorry but his acting like an asshole didn't sit well with me. I would never forgive a man like that so easily and our heroine does forgive him easily. I hated that part of the book. I would have liked if she had made him grovel more.

I think the writer needed a plot twist and chose one that is infuriating. Strangely, it also didn't fit with his character. The hero portrayed so far wouldn't do that - but alas, he did and after that I couldn't enjoy the rest of the book.

All in all, if you need a hot sports romance, it is still Ok but as I have mentioned, it has its own weak parts.

Overall Opinion: I went into this one expecting a fun, sexy sports romance -- and that's what I got! I wasn't expecting anything deep or emotional, but just something to hit the spot after watching some football this weekend. I think it definitely helped that I went in with this mentality, so I wasn't disappointed. Is it going on my favorites shelf and going to be an automatic re-read? No, but it was good for what it was. It was pretty hot too! The drama towards the end caused me to roll my eyes a little, but I uunderstood that the author needed to add some type of conflict for them to work through. Overall it was a fun, sexy, low-angst read.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Shannon and Oliver's story. Shannon is moving to Raleigh to be with her brother who is the new starting QB for their pro-football team. She is recently out of a long relationship with her ex fiancé who she caught cheating on her, so she is looking for a new start in life away from him. She meets cocky Oliver, who is one of her brother's new teammates. Even though the attraction is really strong, she is hesitant to start anything new. Oliver suggests a no-strings-attached fling during the pre-season, because he is wanting to fully focus on getting a Super Bowl ring. She agrees, because she needs to focus on starting up her jewelery business. Stronger feelings start to develop the longer they spend together, and after lots of sexy times and a little drama...they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Shannon and Oliver's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: Kind of. Not the typical kind, but they develop strong feelings pretty fast.

H rating: 4 stars. Oliver. He was hot! He was a good combination of alpha, cocky, sweet, and loyal that made me like him.

h rating: 4 stars. Shannon. I loved how supportive and caring she was with both the H and her brother.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate/high. There was a good bit of sex and it gets pretty hot. . There were times that I felt like there was a little too many scenes, but for the type of book I was expecting it didn't bother me.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes, but very short

Possible Triggers: Mild

Closure: This had a cute jump ahead epilogue, but I wanted more! I would call it a HFN ending, but I'm sure others might be just fine calling it a HEA (you know me, I'm picky)

How I got it: It was part of my scribed subscription.

Safety: I'd call this one Safe for most readers.

"Someday you'll realize you're not the only person who will do everything they can for the person they love."
Emotional and HOT as hell!
Oliver Powell didn't go down on me like it was a job or a duty, but like it was his destiny to be between my thighs.
And Oliver and Shannon's story was incredibly engaging and it sucked me in from the beginning.

I can't rate it higher, however, because the conflict was resolved on one page, and there were so many odd sentences that didn't make much sense.

But hey, if you're not a stickler for grammar, you should give this one a read! Thanks, Simran for bringing this author to my attention. 🥰🥰

Yes, this book lives up to its title, Dirty Player...I guarantee it....and does it great, by the way. You will be given all the yummy, sexy, filthy, dirty, dirty times you could want...But don't be shocked or surprised when you get all of the other added pleasures of a well thought out story which will make you care about the characters...who are enjoying all those dirty, filthy, sexy times.

Now that I have your attention, I can share that Stacey Lynn has given us a book that covers all sorts of feels and situations. They are not complicated or difficult to grasp. They are humanizing and identifiable. Now that may sound a little off... How can we identify with professional football players and the environment they exist in...the fame, money, idolization...

Well, these sports gods had to come from somewhere... and more than likely from families who supported their dreams as best as they could in order for these men to succeed. One of our main characters had a special force behind his success...

Oliver Powell had parents who raised him well and while pursuing his dreams, he thought his high school love was on board for the professional football life he was going to provide. He loved her completely all through college and then during the ramp-up to going pros. But when he was acquired by the Raleigh Rough Riders, she refused to return to the south where they were from. She loved the perks of fame, the power of her position as a "wife of a player" but not the man or game enough to make the move. It took her taking half of his earnings for the last 6 years to change Oliver.

No longer the man open to freely love. Now the man was shut down; hiding his real thoughts and feelings about everything except football. He didn't care what others thought of him or whether he followed the league rules. Didn't do interviews...instead took the fines. He hooked up however he wanted... there was no need to look around...women came to him. He had the reputation of AssH@le and wore it proudly.

He was reaching the sunset of his career. Now 30, he knew he really had only a few years left to accomplish his last goal, obtaining the Super Bowl Ring. His team needed to get their friggin' act together. His long-time quarterback was traded...and now they were bringing fresh meat from another team. Oliver would see how this would shape out...

Shannon Hale was the special force for her brother Beaux, the new quarterback joining the team. They were their only family since their mom passed. Each may have had different fathers but it seems both men were losers when it came to being a parent. Their mom, though, was a woman who did whatever it took to make a home for them. She worked non stop and provided as best she could. When Beaux got a ball in his hands as a young child, he wouldn't let go...His talent and future was the driving force for Shannon. As his older sister, she took him to all his practices, games, camps...whatever was needed to encourage his goals to be a professional football player. She put all sorts of personal goals aside in order to be there for him and did it happily... Good thing she understood the game and loved just as much as Beaux. Beaux's career developed and now his trade to the Raleigh Rough Riders is the break for him...the placement to make a difference and help this team get to the Super Bowl.

And now Beaux will be his big sister's special force. Shannon thought she was getting married to a man who loved her...only to find him banging a guest during their engagement party in the bathroom. Shannon wasted no time leaving the event, hurrying home, slashing her wedding dress to shreds, and deciding to move to Raleigh to escape the embarrassment. She would start over. Beaux was more than happy to have his sister closer. He also took this opportunity to be the one to support and encourage her jewelry business. These two siblings loved each other and had a very easy relationship between them.

The story takes off with Shannon coming down to the field to see Beaux after the last day of training camp. Fans of all shapes, sizes, and desires worked the fence to attract players' attention. Fathers and sons wanting autographs, sports nerds wanting a conversation, and then the groupies showing their wares hoping for a look which would turn into a "Personal Encounter". As Beaux works for the crowd, he finally gets to Shannon and gives her a huge hug. They both are slap happy and being close as they normally are.

A ruckus of fans yelling for Oliver Powell to look their way caused Shannon to see him coming towards them. Shannon knew who Powell was...He was a perfect specimen in body and looks but an arrogant ass and for her, that lowered the hotness factor. As he gets closer to Beaux, Powell starts saying things that were so inappropriate. Insinuating Shannon was a football groupie looking for a meal ticket, he threw out comments that implied this - meaning Shannon- was the type of upscale action he would now be getting...It only got more down and dirty until Beaux took him aside and said something in Powell's ear which caused him to stop in his tracks.

The power of Powell was shocking. As much as he was a dick, the beauty of him in person was mouthwatering. Shannon had decided after the fiance' fiasco, she was going to be stronger and never let herself be second place in her own life. It was her time now. If she wanted something she was going to go for it...

Now there was no denying as much as Beaux warned her to not fall for Powell, a spark and interest on both sides flared. It became a smoldering ember that did not need much encouragement when the team had its new season party. Shannon dressed to make herself feel confident and possibly because she knew Oliver was going to be there. Shannon meets some team members and dances a few dances with one. When it is time to relax a bit and sit down, a voice says to her, " The next one's mine"...

Powell captures her in his arms, starts to tell her what's what, and lays out the punchline of what she needs is to get with him not a baby like Beaux... Shannon drops the bomb she is Beaux's sister not some money-grubbing wanna be wife like his ex.

A couple of things happen from this exchange...Shannon is shocked by the things Powell has been saying yet oddly flattered he thought she was hot...her brain says stay away but her body and ego likes the whispering and thrills. Oliver, on the other hand, is taken aback... This woman is the sister who has done so much for Beaux...She has no interest in manipulating anything and in her own way has proven how cool and beautiful she is.

Oh, and both of them are attracted to each other.
Seriously...

We get dual POVs'S and they are on target with both of their life experiences and personalities. Over the course of a few weeks, Powell realizes Shannon's impact on him and he is all in. Shannon moves step by step into becoming her own person and giving herself credit for the things she has achieved. They speak in the language of sex from the beginning and convey deeper feelings from the start. Both are growing and even with a few stumbles and falls, they develop a trust which will not be denied.

There were secondary characters to move the plot along and overall I never was distracted or wanted to put the book down.

It may be a very Hot with a capital H book bringing all the Naughty front and center.... but it was the humanness of it all which will make me remember it fondly.

Families and loved ones make sacrifices for their partners and children. We may not see the supporters when the sports stars are receiving their Super Bowl rings or Olympic Medals... but they are part of why they succeed. May we all have that type of support in our lives.

Spoilers ahead, 2.5*

I'm having a tough time moving on with this one so far I've got

H/h meet he's a dick but he's attracted to her but thinks she's dating her brother
He fucks two women in the week since he's met her trying to get her out of his head, this is only mentioned not described
He finally realizes the truth and at a birthday party I think, in front of everyone she goes off with the known manwhore
They fool around and go back to his home to have sex
They agree to have sex for one month but he doesn't want her getting close so aside from some foolish comments at their next sex meetup he takes her to his fuckpad, she realizes what it is but she wants him so much yadda yadda yadda

Look I've got no issue with her fucking him for a month, she's just been cheated on by her fiance so she's enjoying herself but honestly it all just feels so fricking sleazy.

I'm continuing on because it's supposed to be a good read but...............

Ok so I've finished it and I will say Oliver turned it around, he was the one to ask for their one month arrangement to Change, he was the one who said ILY first and he was the one who accepted the idea of an actual relationship first BUT

There were still some scenes that niggled at me

His ex shows up asking for a second chance because he's about to stop her money flow he left the h to go after his ex. He said ,and I believed him, that it was just to reiterate the point that it was over between them but honestly it was drama for drama's sake. He had a meeting with her and the lawyers why couldn't he make his point there? Anyway he apologized to Shannon and she was cool with it

Then his dad had an emergency and was rushed to hospital, Oliver had a totally unfair and irrational blow up at Shannon that resulted in them being separated for days

Then she goes to his apartment and a woman in a robe is there, it was just his friend but she didn't know so she left hurt and in tears. He didn't go after her because he was still drunk from the night before yadda yadda yadda unacceptable!

Eventually he went to her where her ex was there and the ex is run off and he apologized again.

Now there were some sweet moments in between but this was like 60% sex and 40% story. I will not read a romance without sexy times but even for me this was too much

He made quite a few of the references that I hate. Like "he'd had sex bare before but not in a while" or giving her a compliment on her bj skills by saying he'd never had another woman suck as good as she did or his internal thoughts about how women used him for money so he didn't mind using them for pussy. I don't expect my H to be a saint but really Oliver just wasn't my kinda guy.

They had sex once where he accidentally went in bare, he claimed he was clean but she still got a condom which I applauded her for ..........but their very first sexual encounter was her giving him a bj and her swallowing. Kinda like closing the barn door after the horse had already escaped

I liked Shannon's relationship with her brother and I liked her best friend. I appreciated that Oliver was committed to her and never thought of straying.

All in all this wasn't my cuppa but I'm interested in the other stories and I'm hoping Kolby gets a book. Unfortunately I'm not quite interested or invested enough to move on right now but hopefully soon?

Dirty Player by Stacey Lynn is the first in the Rough Riders series and it definitely lives up to its title 😉
If I fall off the wagon and need a sports romance I tend to end up with a Ice hockey book, but this has introduced me to the world of the NFL and WOW!!! Whatever took me so long???
If you're looking for something about a sexy as sin with a dirty mouth and dirty mind NFL player then I recommend you read this.
It's extremely sinfully naughty, it also has some sweet moments too and of course there is some furstrating moment where you want to shake someone 😤 apart from that it's a fun easy read 📖

4 ”I want Oliver” stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Super-duper steamy ✔️
Hotty football player ✔️
Strong heroine ✔️
Swoony romance ✔️

I looked toward the new, masculine voice. It was unavoidable. The voice instantly brought up visions of morning sex and shower sex, public sex, and sheet-clawing, multiple-orgasm, ecstatically screaming sex.
Oliver Powell.

I absolutely loved this book. This was by a new to me author and am surprised how did I not find her sooner. I enjoy a good sports romance. There’s just something about sexy, sweaty players that gets your motor running. It’s been a while since I read one and am so glad I chose this one, it ticked off all my boxes. I was told that it’s really really steamy but as it’s obvious I like it that way. Even though for some it might be not. All I am gonna say is that it won’t take you away from the story.

The story is about Shannon who has spent her life working jobs to support her younger brother’s dream to be a football player sacrificing her own dreams for the same. All of it pays for when her brother gets drafted. After a messy breakup she decides to move to Raleigh with her brother who now plays for them and thats how she meets Oliver who is the team captain and falls in instant lust with him.

”Fucking hurry, Shannon.” He grunted, moved faster, and I put my hand back on his shaft to stop him from pushing too hard.
He slapped my hand away and glared down at me. “You’ll fucking take what I give you and you’ll love it, every single fucking time.”
The warning, the threat…the promise, was all I needed. I squeezed my eyes closed as he hit my throat at the same time I exploded beneath him.

She knows he’s a player off the field too, arrogant and intense but it still doesn’t stop her from having fantasies about him. It’s something we all can relate too. The attraction is mutual. It doesn’t takes her long to fall in bed with him. What surprises her though is the fact underneath all his image, is a caring and genuine guy no matter how much he tries to hide it.

I wanted hard fucking, nails digging into skin, grips so tight they bruised, and yet she was the sweet to my spice, the light to my dark. Every time I wanted to dirty her up, she made me want to slow down and relish the moment at the same time.

Oliver was an ALPHA. That’s the first word that comes to mind to describe him. His intensity, personality, physique combined can melt anyone’s panties with one look. Shannon is a clear proof of that. Things start with them with a one night stand but leaves them wanting more so they decide to be fuck buddies for the whole game season. Shannon totally deserved it after every things that’s been going with her.

Shannon Hale swooped into my life at a time when love and laughter and forever were the last damn things on my mind, but she changed my mind about all of it almost as soon as I’d touched her, before I could admit it to myself.
Now, I just had to spend the rest of my life showing her how much it meant to me.
It’d be the dirtiest game of my life.

As their story goes, you see more layers to Oliver. How he is such a down to earth guy, hurt by her ex and protective of Shannon. I liked the fact there was no unnecessary drama. When they realised they had something more than physical, they gave each other a chance. It was beautiful to watch them fall in love. They had a lot in common which made it easier.

”Help me,” she whispered, adjusting herself on the counter but still listening. “I want you to help me.”
“Help you come?”
I received an immediate nod.
“No fucking way. This first time you’re doing it yourself, showing me what you like and what you want. Show me what you did to yourself this week when you were alone in bed, naked and thinking of me.”
My eyes met hers when she inhaled a gasp.
Dirty, dirty girl. God, I loved that. The look she gave me made my cock harden even more.

NOW.. let’s talk about their sex life. It was downright filthy, sizzling and so combustible. The man had such a dirty talking mouth. I can’t tell you how many times I blushed throughout the book. Each scene was better and dirtier than the last. They are still on my mind. Some might think it’s a lot but I did not mind at all.

If you guys are looking for a sweet and genuine sports romance with lots and lots of heat, then look no further. The plot, even though predictable, the writing is really good. I definitely recommend it. ♥️

Review by Jen Skewes

Shannon and her brother Beau have always been close. Growing up she was more of a mother to him than a big sister. Their mother worked two jobs to be able to provide for the two of them. So Shannon stepped into the role of a mother. She gave up so much to be there for her brother, to be the one to take him to football and make sure he achieved his dream of playing pro football. When Shannon catches her fiancé with another woman she packs her things up and hightails it out of there. She decides to move closer to her brother and start over. She has done so much for Beau that he wants to help her with her dreams. This is now her time. Shannon has started her own jewelry business with the help of her brother. That is her main focus right now, getting her life back together and her business up and running. She does not need any distractions right now, especially a sexy football player who she should not be thinking about.

Oliver Powell is a hot and sexy football star, but he is also getting older and a few years away from retiring. There is one thing that he still wants and that is a championship ring on his finger. When his time is up he wants to go out with a bang. His main concentration is his career and this upcoming season. He has no time for distractions, until he meets Shannon.

They both agree to one month of casual sex. After that they will go their separate ways, allowing Oliver to concentrate on football and Shannon on her business. But there is this undeniable connection between the two of them. The chemistry is off the charts and they can no longer deny that there is so much more to what they have then just sex. But they have both been hurt in the past and Oliver has this huge wall up, one that will be very difficult for Shannon to break down. With the obstacles in their way and them both having issues from their past will they be able to make this work?

Oliver and Shannon definitely have chemistry. And you can feel that sexual chemistry many times in this book. The scenes were HOT and the writing was very good. For me personally I think that there were more sex scenes than I would have liked. And don’t get me wrong I love a hot and sexy scene just as much as everyone else. But for me I wanted more emotion and depth and less of the sex. I just felt like the conflicts could have been resolved with more communication than sex. Overall I did enjoy the book and I am sure that many people will love Oliver and Shannon together and enjoy the hotness between the two of them.

HOT DAMN this book!!!
Shannon thought she had it all but her life crumbled fast when she found out her fiancé was a cheating bastard. She skipped town and left everything behind, moving to Raleigh near her brother Beaux (who is an up and coming Raleigh Rough Riders quarterback) in search for a new beginning. What she did not expect was to run into her brother’s teammate Oliver – best tight end in the league that comes in a full package of arrogance, surliness, and asshole with a capital A. Oh man, the first meeting had me laughing so hard . Honestly, I could feel their sizzling chemistry and attraction for each other right off the bat. Oliver knows Shannon is off limits and that fuels him more to pursue what he wants.

On the outside, Oliver is a hot shot with an big attitude to match his his … you know what lol. But there is more to Oliver than what meets the eyes. Oliver has been burned in the past so that makes him shy away from relationships and love. But Shannon isn’t any other woman. It was nice to see Oliver change from a bad boy alpha with a filthy mouth to someone sexier, sweet and gentle. This book is uber steamy and full of hot scenes. Fantastic hero and heroine as well as secondary characters. I love the relationship between Shannon and her brother. Well written, nice pace, just the right amount of football and romance. Highly recommend this steamy, sweet and fun sport romance! Just in time for football season :)

Dirty Player is a Standalone told in a dual POV, my favorite. And what’s more? This is the beginning of a series. YEEEESSSS!!! I cannot wait for more! Also, another new author for me! So awesome!

☆I received an ARC from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!☆

3.5 stars!!

In entirety, I found this book to be 'okay.' It was good, but it wasn't life changing or amazing. Kinda fell into the book cliche of superstar bad boy athlete meets off limits spitfire female category and the rest is history after that.

I don't know. While I did enjoy the main characters' banters and interactions, something about this novel just could not surpass it being great to me. Was it the writing? Was it my mood? I can't pinpoint my finger. I mean, it was entertaining. I just wish it delve a little deeper and contained more layers to it than what I had gotten from it.

So over all, a likable read. Just, missing something for me.

HOT! And a fun-to-read sports-related romance with great characters - although at times I wanted to smack that football player for being such a rude and arrogant you know what! Written well and with a good pace that kept my interest throughout. The storyline is well-balanced with football, sizzle, relationship building and a very fine Epilogue to bring it all to a happily-ever-after.

Well now ... this is going to sound bad, but the book really didn't have anything new to it but I still enjoyed the heck out of it. It had a really good proportion of sexy and romance and sport and family and friendship. The story's been done a million times before and it's a bit of a cliche, but what stood out was Oliver and Shannon as characters. So altho the story line is not something new, they were refreshing to read because the sparked all the time. When they interacted in any way it was just zing zing zing. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

One thing I really liked was Oliver's growth in the book. He starts out a typical alpha jock but transforms thru the book. He definitely gives meaning to the phrase .. don't judge a book by its cover :) Shannon also does some growth of course, but his just stuck out for me. And I was super excited by the secondary characters and their future roles in this new series!

So overall, yeah, pick this book up if you want to read a really sexy sports romance that's not superficial.

This book should have been titled Dirty Sex. First time reading a Stacey Lynn book, and my oh my, does she know how to write a scintillating hot story. Shannon is starting over after catching her fiancé cheating on her. She moves closer to her brother who is the new starting quarterback for the Rough Riders, which is an apt name considering what one of their players can do (most probably all of them;). She's not looking for anything except to establish herself and regroup. She didn't count on the hot tight end and team captain setting his sights on her. Oliver was all kinds of sexy dirty. He was unapologetic about being an asshole or harsh. He built himself a reputation of not giving a flying fcuk and lives by the one-night stand philosophy. But Shannon rattles him up. One night is not enough. And soon their agreement turns into something more serious.

Both of them are dealing with horrible exes and getting over issues of past hurts. One area where they have no issue was the bedroom. Wowwee.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I devoured Dirty Player! It was all kinds of fun. Shannon and Oliver have sizzling chemistry- I'm surprised my kindle survived this story and didn't combust into flames. I miss them already.

Stacey Lynn scored on all levels with this sinfully sexy and fun read. It was so much fun to lose myself in the pages of this. It's no secret this book is HOT HOT HOT HOT... did I mention it was hot? Here's the thing, Dirty Player is layered with lighthearted and passionate moments too - these characters have depth and soul. They both had emotional baggage, real baggage that made them completely relatable. My heart broke for Oliver. Shannon, she was a bold and fearless heroine. The woman was no damsel in distress, and you know how I feel about my strong female heroines.

I was completely addicted to this story, and I couldn't put it down! Bravo Stacey Lynn!

Reviewed on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict (www.bookboyfriendaddict.com). A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

There was a pull between us, magnetic and strong and fierce. Neither of us necessarily wanted it, but it also couldn’t be denied.
Running was futile.
Burning it out, impossible.

It’s the start of the 2016-2017 football season so what better way to kick off the season than to read a deliciously dirty, sweet and fun football romance? That’s exactly what Stacey Lynn delivers with her latest release. If you’re a fan of sports romance featuring a sexy as sin, dirty talking football star and a sweet yet strong and independent heroine then you’re going to want to check this out. Oliver and Shannon were a great match and I thought this book was a fun time from start to finish, not overly angsty but plenty steamy with a bit of drama and a few surprises sprinkled in.

Shannon Hale swooped into my life at a time when love and laughter and forever were the last damn things on my mind, but she changed my mind about all of it almost as soon as I’d touched her, before I could admit it to myself.

Shannon Hale recently moved to Raleigh from Des Moines to be closer to her brother who was recently traded to be the starting QB for the Raleigh Rough Riders. Having recently suffered a broken engagement at the hands of her cheating ex-fiancé, she’s looking at this move as a way to start fresh and to follow her own dreams for a change. One thing she isn’t looking for is a man, especially not the arrogant, sexy, playboy tight end for the Rough Riders, Oliver Powell. Oliver has one thing on his mind, winning the Super Bowl. At just around 30 years old, he knows that he only has a few good years left to reach his goal and with the addition of Beaux Hale to the team, this just might be the year. He’s focused on the ring, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have time for the company of a pretty lady which is exactly what he wants when he sets his eyes on Shannon Hale. The two agree to a no strings attached hook up, it’s a win-win for both of them, they get the physical release they need while not distracting from their goals. The only problem? The more time they spend together, the more they can’t seem to get enough of each other. Find out what happens when those pesky things called feelings get involved in what started out as a no strings attached arrangement!

Yeah, Oliver Powell had an ass that fit his position on the field, but he was a complete prick.

I loved that Oliver managed to continually surprise me at every turn throughout this book. The first time Shannon meets him you’ll probably be rolling your eyes at the arrogance and just general asshole-ness he portrays, wondering if this guy is for real. It doesn’t take long though, especially once you get his POV, to see that there’s way more to Oliver than you see on the surface. Before you know it you’ll be falling for him and swooning over him just like Shannon. Turns out that Shannon wasn’t the only one who’s been burned in the past and this tough guy, playboy persona is just Oliver’s way of protecting himself from another betrayal. If you never put your heart out there, then you’ll never get hurt. I think that in a way both of their past experiences really helped to make their relationship together work. I really enjoyed seeing them fall for each other, even though it scared the hell out of them. I also really loved that they still managed to keep their eye on the prize, in terms of their personal goals, while they explored this new relationship. Then of course you have their smoking hot chemistry, you’re going to want to keep a fan nearby for this one!

As I mentioned earlier, this one is relatively low angst, but it’s definitely there. As the story goes on there are several things that could potentially be the source of big conflict for these two, but I loved that the actual thing that stood in their way was something I never saw coming, yet was still believable. Overall I really enjoyed this book, then again, I haven’t met a Stacey Lynn book yet that I haven’t enjoyed! I would love to read about some of the other Rough Riders, perhaps starting with Beaux?? If you’re looking for a light, easy, sexy sports romance, check out Dirty Player!

“You scare me,” I admitted, my voice breathless.
“Then we’re even.” He leaned forward and brought his lips to mine, nipping at my bottom lip and then soothing it with his tongue. “Because you terrify the shit out of me.”

Shannon Hale knows what she wants in life. Or so she thought.

But one cheating fiancé and shredded wedding dress later, she skips town desperately needing a do-over. So she moves in with her brother, the new quarterback for the Raleigh Rough Riders, starts her own business, and vows to live by her own rules and no one else’s.

Oliver Powell is a man who always gets what he wants. As the sexy as sin MVP Tight End, he’s arrogant. He’s loaded. He’s also got a sizeable package below the belt that drives the women crazy.

And he’s focused. The prize—a Super Bowl ring on his finger.

His concentration on getting that ring is unwavering—until Shannon Hale shows up. Now the only game he wants to win involves her ending up in his bed.

The problem? Shannon wants nothing to do with NFL’s resident playboy.

The solution? Play dirty.

Review:
It is football season. What better way to join in the celebration than to cuddle up on the couch with a good book while you significant other monopolizes the TV watching game after game. If you can’t beat them, join them in your own way. Dirty Player was a fun, sexy romance revolving around a Tight End and the new quarterbacks sister. This book has some soft kink in it. Making it a touch down in my play book. Plot Shannon Hale leaves just about everything behind when she joins her younger brother when he signs on to a new football team as the starting quarterback. Shannon caught her cheating now ex fiancé with another woman. With the help of her brother, she is ready to start a new life, a new business in a new town. She wasn’t counting on Oliver Powell, captain of the team becoming part of her new life. Oliver Powell has been burnt by his first and only love. After his divorce he has developed the love them and leave them attitude. When he spots a new “groupie” hanging around the practice field he thinks he has his fun time girl for the night. When she turns him down in favor of the new quarterback, he is a little put out, but when he finds out that the little spitfire of a girl is the quarterback’s sister he goes all in for his conquest. However this is a tricky situation. How is he going to get what he wants and not upset the new quarterback. More importantly how is he not going to develop feelings for this amazing unselfish woman. There is some down and dirty chemistry going on in this book. The pacing is pretty fast with sticky situations arising with exes. You know I love HEA endings and this is a good one. The author shares the background of the players making them credible.

4.5 stars!!

There are 2 of my favorite things that made me love this book. 1- football and 2- Stacey Lynn's writing. She is one of my favorite authors and this book was so good!!

Shannon moves to Raleigh, NC to be near her baby brother who is now playing for the Raleigh Rough Riders. She has always been super close to him, so when he was traded and her relationship fell apart, it only made sense to move to where he was. On one of her first nights in Raleigh, she meets her brother's teammate Oliver. Oh how I loved/hated Oliver. At first he comes off crass and harsh. He is a verbena ball player who thinks the world revolves around him. Oliver and Shannon are so opposites, that there is crazy chemistry. Shannon is super kind and warm to everyone she meets, where Oliver is rough and unpolished.

Oliver and Shannon have intense and immediate chemistry and, man, did they have some hot and steamy scenes. But there was only a strong bond they had. Oliver doesn't like to let people in and get close to him. He is more of a one night with a different women type of guy, but not with Shannon. She is inching her way into his heart from the second they meet. There is something special about her. Oliver knows it right away, but tries to fight it.

I love sports romance and I think Stacey did an amazing job with this one!!!

I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a lot of fun, and I liked Shannon and Oliver, even if they were a little cliche, it still worked and I was ok with this. He is a football player, and there are certain parts of that lifestyle and are going to be in books about sports hero, so when they are there, it is ok.

Oliver has been burned in the past. Shannon has as well, so an initial night, that turns into a month, that turns into more was a progression that worked well for them and was believable in the story.

The writing was strong, the characters well-rounded and realistic. The supporting characters were present in the right amounts. they added to the story without creating issues of following along or making it seem like too much time was spend away from the central characters. The pacing was on point and it worked well.

I enjoyed this overall.

Book #4 was much better but this was a decent read. Too much sex though. Yes I said it too much sex. Every other scene was sex and it took away from the book.

Loved it! Redeemable cocky dickhead. And another football romance hit! I loved these two characters and heroine's brother. I hope he gets a book of his own as well.

And it absolutely lives up to its title. Dirty smut!

Some of the talk from the MMC was awesome and some just cringey. It was a fine line. He fell first and changed a bit from being a douche bag to a semi nice guy.

Raleigh Rough Riders: Dirty Player
von Stacey Lynn
Plaisir d'Amour Verlag
„Oliver Powell, sexy wie die Sünde und erfolgreicher Tight End des Raleigh Rough Riders-Footballteams, ist auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Karriere. Er bekommt stets alles, was er will.

Oh my wow, this story is WONDERFUL! Stacey Lynn is one of my favorite story tellers - I love the cadence of her writing! I started off not really liking the story; I didn't feel a connection between Oliver & Shannon, and part of that is intentional, I think, because of the parameters they'd set up in their relationship.

The turning point, when it came, was done so subtly that I didn't realize it was happening. Just, all of a sudden, I truly felt INVESTED in their relationship, and became more fully engaged in the story. There are still a couple things that I didn't like, but that's personal preference on my part & not any fault of the story. What I LOVED, tho, was the banter & the close relationships described w/ Oliver's teammates & Shannon's brother. And the epilogue? Freaking AMAZING epilogue! Looking forward to what's going to come next - at least, I'm hoping this is a series & things will be coming next...! : )

Kicking her cheating ex to the curb, Shannon packs her bags and leaves town, deciding that she needs a fresh start and an opportunity to spread her wings.
Her brother Beaux has always been able to rely on his sister, she practically brought him up, foregoing everything she had to in order to ensure that he was able to achieve his goals, and now he is the star quarterback for the Raleigh Rough Riders, he is ready to repay her dedication, so unbeknown to her he buys her a property and gives her the opportunity to kick start her business.
Everything seems to happen all at once for Shannon because no sooner has she gotten her head around the fact that she is not only single again but she now has a few short weeks to get her business off the ground but she also comes face to face with Beaux’s teammate…the delicious Oliver Powell.
Now getting involved with Oliver is a minefield, after all Beaux has to work with him and add to that the fact that the delightful Mr Powell has a reputation that definitely precedes him but there is just something about him that has her struggling to keep her distance…and the feeling is most definitely mutual. So they strike a bargain, a friends with benefits arrangements so to speak that will last the preseason with no expectations and no foul come the day they call time.
They were so sure that they could handle the passion between them without there being any ill effects and like Shannon, Oliver had been down the commitment path before and had his fingers burned, so I have everything crossed that they actually knew what they were doing because otherwise it was going to get very, very messy indeed both on and off the field!
I liked the whole chemistry they had going on, they were really, really great together but they had so much more than just being epic between the sheets. They were really good for each other and I loved the fact that Shannon was able to get under the surface of his public persona and see the really Oliver, the guy that the world had no idea existed. When they were finally able to be themselves they were glorious.
I hope we get a little more of Melissa, Shannon’s best friend, I really liked her and the energy she brought to the story and I am almost certain that there is something brewing between her and Beaux, how fabulous.
