About this ebook

In a poignant romance from the author of This One Moment (“Hot, intense, and filled with emotion.”—Rachel Harris), the rock stars of Pushing Limits have hit the big time. But fame gets tough when love presents a fork in the road.

At twenty-one, Jared Leigh had been prepared to give up the life of a touring musician to be a father after getting his girlfriend pregnant. When she told him that she’d gotten an abortion, Jared was devastated. Now at least he has the groupies to keep him company—until a blast from the past rocks his world.

Callie Talbert hasn’t seen her sister’s ex since high school. But after Callie bumps into Jared while she’s grocery shopping with four-year-old Logan, there’s a spark that wasn’t there before. Jared quickly realizes that her deaf “son” is the same age his own child would have been. When Jared demands to know more about Logan, Callie panics. There are things she just can’t tell him. Besides, Jared’s a bad-boy rocker, not a dependable father figure. He’ll move on to his next gig soon enough . . . right?

Trouble is, Jared refuses to be pushed away, and the more quality time he spends with Logan, the more he’s captivated by the woman Callie has become. When the truth is revealed, Jared only hopes that the three of them have what it takes to become a real family.

Stina Lindenblatt created another amazing novel, MY SONG FOR YOU, book two in the Pushing Limits Series. Guitarist, Jared Leigh, bumps into Callie Talbert, the little sister of his ex-girlfriend, Alexis, and her four-year-old deaf son, Logan, at the grocery store. He soon realizes that Logan is the same age as the child Callie’s sister told him she aborted. This contemporary rock star romance is suitable for adult audiences. It takes place in California. I like Jared. He is a great guy. He would have stood by Alexis and his baby. He was heartbroken when she told him she aborted their child. He is a really good dad. I appreciated that he learned sign language. Callie is a sweet heroine. She has gone through a lot, losing everyone she has loved. I’m glad she had Mrs. Rogers. I respect that she has made sacrifices to raise her nephew. She is a good mother to Logan. I like that Jared and Callie had known each other since they were kids. Callie having a crush on Jared, who is four years older than her. Logan is adorable. He seems to win over everyone he meets. I love that he likes Winne The Pooh and puppies. Jared has a wonderful family. Being former neighbors of the Talbert family, I like how supportive they are of Callie. Jared has great band mates: Nolan (main character from book one), Mason, Kirk, and Aaron. I like how accommodating and loyal they are. They are like brothers. I love that Mason has to keep contributing to the swear jar. Jared’s ex-Tiffany is a piece of work. She causes some interesting friction in the story. MY SONG FOR YOU was an incredible story. I loved the characters and the plot. The story was believable and well-written. There were surprises and many obstacles for the characters to overcome. Stina Lindenblatt is an excellent writer. She had me engrossed through the entire novel, experiencing a wide amount of emotions. While I might not have agreed with everything, the characters did, I could easily see their viewpoints. Pushing Limits is an amazing series. I cannot wait to read the rest of the band’s stories. Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I wish I could say I really loved this story. My Song for You is the second book in the Pushing Limits series but you don’t need to have read that book to enjoy this one. Each of the stories stands alone with no problem. When I saw this book available on NetGalley the blurb got my attention right away. Secret baby, check; former friends to lovers, check – these are two of my favorite romance tropes. Because I like reading series in order I decided to look for book 1, This One Moment, and maybe give it a try. It was on sale for 99 cents so I picked up a copy and read it before I read My Song for You. I’ve done a separate 3 star review for that story. Jared is the lead guitar player for Pushing Limits. When his friend with benefits (FWB) turned up pregnant a few years ago he was prepared to give it up and become a father. However he wasn’t given that chance when his FWB told him later that she had an abortion. From the books blurb we pretty much know that his FWB lied about the abortion but there’s a lot more to the story of how his FWB’s sister, Callie, came to be taking care of his son. Callie has had a rough time of it the last few years. She has given up a lot to take care of baby Logan. When she bumps into her sister’s FWB, Jared she panics and doesn’t want him to find out the secret she’s been keeping. She also realizes that the crush she had on Jared when they were kids has never gone completely away. I read a lot of New Adult stories and, much to my surprise, I really enjoy most of them. The proliferation of the “F” word doesn’t bother me; neither does the use of a lot of swearing. I’ve also enjoyed reading other “rock star” books so it’s hard for me to put my finger on why I didn’t love this one. I have to think that it must be the author’s style. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with her writing; just that I think it’s not really for me. I’m writing this review concurrent with writing one for This One Moment so I’m not basing my feelings on just this one book and some of my words from that review will be repeated. I do have to say that I liked My Song for You more than I liked This One Moment. I don’t know if this is because I got used to the author’s writing style or if I just liked the story better; probably a bit of both. The cast of secondary characters seemed to be given a bit more attention in this book and that added to my enjoyment of the story. While My Song for You held my attention more than This One Moment neither of them had my emotions involved too much. For me this is the surest sign that a book wasn’t a good fit for me. I’ve come to the conclusion that this series probably isn’t one that I’ll read more of. From what I see on the author’s website it looks like a total of 5 books are planned with the next one being I Need You Tonight which is about Mason Dell; readers who are enjoying this series should be happy about that. Like I said in my review for This One Moment, I think my feelings about this series really points out that not all readers are going to like all authors, even if the writing is good. When Jared was 21 years old, he thought that fatherhood was right around the corner. While he didn't plan for it, he was ready to step up and take care of his responsibility. Until the mother told him that she had an abortion. Having the choice taken from him, he puts everything he has into making stardom a reality. Fast forward four years and Jared see Callie, his ex's sister, in the grocery store with a child and attempts to rekindle their friendship. Callie put her dreams aside to raise her nephew as her own. When she runs into Jared, she panics and continues the ruse that Logan is her child. I loved Jared and Logan's nearly instant connection. Even when Jared believed that Logan was his friend's child, he put in a lot of time and effort to make sure that they could communicate and connect. I understood Callie's desire to fulfill the wishes of her sister but given what she knows about Jared, I'm not sure why she thought he can't be both a rock star and a father. I also didn't understand Jared's family's views on separated parents. I am definitely looking forward to more books in this series. I can't wait for Mason's story! *I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
