A few months ago, a federal inmate accused of murder appeared in court on a motion to fire his public defender. The hearing quickly spiraled out of control, with the defendant calling the judge a “fuckman” and claiming to have “a big old donkey dick.” The resulting transcript is possibly the funniest court document ever.
And now there’s an animated re-enactment starring Rick and Morty.
The cartoon duo of squeamish boy and drunken mad scientist, created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, have been cast as Judge Durham and Denver Allen. And they bring the entire hearing to life. All 11 minutes of it. With all its “suck my dicks” and “white butt-boys,” minus a few bleeps on the harder swears.

Even Roiland, who does both voices, can’t help cracking up at times.
What does this have to do with the actual plot of Rick and Morty? Nothing! But it works anyway, because the source material is so good, and because it’s not hard to imagine Rick as a belligerent defendant.
You may have seen an earlier version of this cartoon, using black and white stills, that was released at Comic-Con in July, but this is much funnier. And for good reason: Independent animator Tiarawhy is a big enough fan of the show to have spent two months turning the original drawings into what you see here.
