The Road to Errogie by Adam Sutherland (book)

A collection of contemporary Scottish folk melodies from the pen of Loch Ness fiddler & composer Adam Sutherland.

Adam Sutherland comes from Errogie on the south shores of Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland. In his late thirties, he is one of Scotland’s most exciting fiddle players, composers and teachers in a thriving scene, drenched with talent.

This new exciting tune book includes many of Adam's most popular tunes such as The Road to Errogie, No more Cages and a host of new exciting compositions from his fiddle workshops, from his popular solo album Squall, and from his bands The Treacherous Orchestra and Nae Plans.

Here is a You Tube link to all the tunes in the book so you can hear them being played and be inspired: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr8KYqXjpYFiMU0ytyEWH0nlZ1xMSax_D

Well known photographer Somhairle MacDonald has taken fantastic photos of the Errogie area to illustrate the book. He is a very experienced photographer in producing traditional/ contemporary material for books having done several photoshoots for Feis Rois as well as fine illustrative work for other publishers.

Adam’s tunes are perhaps his most impressive legacy and are played in music sessions and on youtube videos all over the world. His tunes have been recorded in many different parts of the world including Canada, USA, Ireland, Spain, Russia and even Korea, and also by artists including Brian Finnegan, Mike McGoldrick, Troy MacGillivray, Breabach, and many others.

Reviews

“Adam has been one of my very favourite tunesmiths for the past 15 years. Every tune he writes flows with heart, he has a frequency all of his own”

Brian Finnegan

Adam Sutherland is an outstanding tune composer - beautiful pieces

Sabrina Palm

"This book would make a great teaching tool and has already been put to great use in the RCS"

Marie Fielding, Box and Fiddle

" These are modern compositions.....some of this music is almost traditional ...other tunes lean more to jazz or funk"
