Police make 28 arrests in Mamelodi

The SAPS in Mamelodi reported 28 successful arrests in one day.

The Mamelodi East police have arrested 28 suspects within a period of 24 hours during operation “paseka” conducted on Wednesday.

The arrested are aged between 22 and 72.

According to Mamelodi East police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Michael Mbewe operation paseka was successful because the police went out in full force taking advantage of various methods.

“The methods included random stop and searches, tracing of wanted suspects, patrols and other sophisticated methods at our disposal. Most of the arrested people will appear in Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court for charges ranging from violation of protection orders, armed robbery, assault, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, house burglary, theft, rape and kidnapping,” said Mbewe.

Meanwhile, police pleaded with residents to help the Gauteng police by reporting corruption and police officers involved in criminal activities by phoning 08600-10 111.
