"Thank you very much for your friendly service when we needed a last minute booking because our holiday plans got cancelled due to the closure of garden route beaches. Although it was only a short stay my two teenage sons really got the experience I was hoping to give them - fresh air, wholesome fun and to be completely carefree for a while - they did not miss their computer games and made some friends even. The facilities are really well maintained and well managed - thank you! The river is spectacular, natural, clean and fresh."

"We expected a little more from Suikerbossie. The welcome was not as friendly as we would have liked, more about filling in paperwork and not much information on where to do. Our campsite was slightly overgrown and the entrance to the river had thorns. We requested to book a canoe as we have three children, however there were none available. The water slide which was supposed to run twice a day never ever transpired, which resulted in three very unhappy children all weekend. I went up to the main house twice and sent an email with no response. A disappointing experience and we were very happy to leave."

"We stayed 2 nights at Alison`s Cabin such a stunning, beautiful spot. We were 2 Adults 2 Kids. Vivian organised a tent to be put up with beds and electricity. So comfortable. The cabin was super clean and had everything we needed. A decent size fridge/freezer, gas two plate stove and even electric blankets on the beds.Such a well maintained campsite with clean ablutions. The views of the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. Close to the River. Lots of Bird life and we enjoyed using the canoes. I loved the mountain bike trails and finding rock pools down the river.We took a drive to the canyon and feasted our eyes on the gushing waterfall. So stunning! We will definitely be back when the weather is warmer to swim in the sparkling pools. Great hospitality and friendly staff.Great value for money. Wood and Ice readily available. Such a stunning Weekend. Thank you for everything. "

"The host that received us upon arrival was very friendly and helpful, and explained everything in so much detail that we did not have to ask anything. Where we camped the lawns were luscious and green. Very well maintained. The kids had so much fun swimming in the river. The location of the campsite is beautiful. We had an enjoyable experience and would definitely go back later this year."

"What a beautiful campsite. Green grass, a river which you can swim in right next to your campsite. This place is amazing for kids. They have wood and ice to purchase and hiring of big black tubes to float with on the river. The bathrooms are always clean. My 21-month-old son had a wonderful time. There were several other friendly families who too had young children and they really enjoyed themselves too. I can't wait to visit again soon. I also love the fact that they are pet-friendly. I am sure going to take my Yorkie with next time. The dogs are well behaved and everyone looked after their pets. If you can try to always use the route that travels through Ceres. It's a shorter dirt road route."

"A beautifully maintained campsite, with a clean and adequate ablution block. Great spot to float down the river, hike, or MTB - truly a super spot for some off grid R&R - and you can take your 'well behaved socialised' dogs with - bonus !"

"Our experience was very disappointing. We chose Suikerbossie because they advertised no music allowed and requested less noise after 9pm. However music was played after 9pm on both evenings of our stay and until the early morning on the second night. A big group of campers were very noisy throughout the weekend and played cricket at the ablution facility, making access difficult and unsafe. Furthermore the establishment provides very little for a high price, e.g. no toilet paper, no plastic bags for refuse (which you must remove yourself)."

"I have been going to visit the Hanekom Suikerbossie Farm for the past five years. Every time I leave fully restored and refreshed. It is always impeccably well looked after, the lawns tended and watered, the bathrooms clean, the caravan well stocked and the workers friendly and helpful. I have recommended it to many of my colleagues at the German International School in Cape Town who have visited on many occasion. I intend booking the waterfall in March 2019 for a group of about 15 female colleagues for a girls weekend away. Hopefully, I would be able to use this voucher towards the costs."

"We stayed in Allison's Cabin for the Easter Weekend and had a beautiful, blissful time. Please take note that you need to take your own refuse bag, dish cloths, dish washing liquid and loo paper. We didn't know this but owner, Karien helped us out! We would definitely recommend this to any nature lovers that are looking for peace and tranquility. I wouldn't want to try this if it's too cold though so would keep it for summer months only."

"We received a warm welcome at Suikerbossie by Karin! We were supposed to have a romantic get away but ended up having to take our 2 small children. Karin added a mattress for us in Alyson's cabin and off we went. It's a beautiful setting and top notch for tranquility. Just don't forget anything as there is no shop anywhere around so make sure to pack even tea and sugar. The only downfall is that we couldn't find the art rocks or cave but were told only on departure that these are not accessible at the moment - we were disappointed as we drove around an entire afternoon trying to find those attractions. We will definitely come back though!"

"We stayed in Allison's Cabin. The views were spectacular and the linen pure white and clean. The fact that it doesn't have a toilet and basin wasn't an issue as the ablution block is close enough. Jumping from the Tarzan rope felt great and the clean fresh water felt exhilarating. There are canoes for rowing down the river/catching fish. The green grass is inviting and the braai facilities are perfectly situated. All in all I just cannot fault this establishment and would love to go back!"

"Baie dankie julle! Dit was werklik een van die lekkerste kampeer plekke waar ek ,Willie en ons Suki (ons poedeltjie) nog was! Ablusieblokke en kampterrein so skoon en netjies. Die Campsites is so privaat en op die rivier. Amazing van julle om jul mooiste plek oop te stel dat ons ook deel kon he van julle pragtige landskap en die historiese deel. The views are magnificent and nature walks on your door step; mountain pools provide hours of easy, safe entertainment for kids of all ages. The ablutions are neat and clean. "We had a wonderful stay at Suikerbossie! It was very clean, the ablutions are beautiful and they recycle. The camp works on an honest policy so if you need ice or wood you leave the cash in the can or you inform Karin on your way out. Karin is fantastic and very warm and friendly. The fruit orchards are stunning. My husband and I went on a hunt for the bushman paintings - took us 4 hours before we gave up. On our walk back to the farm we passed some very friendly farm workers who actually took us down to the paintings. We would never have found them if it wasn't for friendly Denver. We also saw a bat-eared fox. You need time when you go to Suikerbossie so you can unwind fully and experience the nature that is so vast there. The only things that bothered us was a large group of people who were VERY noisy during the day. When we go away we like absolute peace and silence. The noisy bunch did leave one day before us so we managed to experience the silence for 1 day out of the 3. We chose not to moan as we were hoping one of the owners would pop down to see if everything was fine. And the gas ran out for the showers so we had freezing cold showers on 2 of the days. Thought the owners would pop down at some point to check the noise levels and gas but we didn't see anyone. We will be back and next time we will speak up if there is a noisy bunch or if gas runs out."

"We had the most amazing weekend! The sites are well taken care of, with green and lush grass. The river was a pleasure as the temperature got higher and higher. "Suikerbossie Guest Farm is an absolute oasis. We camped for 2 nights at Kuilkamp at Suikerbossie. Kuilkamp has a big gazebo or lapa that has a long table and benches, a work area as well as a gas bottle with a 2-plate burner. You could even pitch a tent in the one half under the thatch roof. We were right on the river and spent our time in the intense heat drifting on the river in tubes and on lilo's. The 'tarzan swing' was right at our camp and with the campsites on the river all occupied it became a little noisy but not enough to complain about it. In fact, we got involved with the youngsters, and the not so young, egging each other on to take the swing. The ablutions and facilities are beautiful, airy and light and clean. The lawns and surrounding area is beautiful although I would have liked more of an uninterrupted view of the river from the campsite - the bushes and reeds on the bank takes the view away a bit. We did not explore too much of the farm but from what i could see the other campsites were just as nice as Kuilkamp. I can strongly recommend this getaway."

"Beautiful camp site. Right on the banks of a river. Owners Karin and Johnny are an absolute pleasure to deal with, they were very friendly and helpful beyond expectations. Accommodation is not the cheapest out there, but it's actually great value because you get a lot of space in a beautiful setting and it doesn't feel crowded, even in peak season. No reception at all! A true getaway. Budget extra for daily canoe/tube rental, as this is the camp site's biggest draw card and the best way to enjoy the river."

"If peace and tranquility is what you require from the humdrum of life, look no further. Surrounded by picturesque mountains, a sprawling river, green grass that your feet can sink into, and an abundance of bird life, Suikerbossie encompasses the perfect getaway for the fatigued person who needs some much needed rejuvenation. Our stay was enjoyable and very relaxing. Even though there were other campers, your camp site is situated in such a way, that you have total privacy from the group camping next door to you. The camp sites were clean, grassed, and had taps for your convenience and ease. The ablution facilities was clean, and had hot water on tap. The tractor rides, slippy slides and rope swing, kept the kids entertained for hours at a time. We arrived tired, and left refreshed after our stay. Thank you to Karin and Johnny for your hospitality. We will definitely recommend your establishment to all we meet, and will certainly be back."

"We had a lovely weekend. They even put a tv under the trees so all the campers could watch World Cup rugby! This was our second time but definitely not our last. Beautiful hot showers and clean bathrooms, lovely green lawn everywhere and the best is the size of every camp, you dont' hear or see other campers. "An absolute awesome setting on a beautiful farm. We had an absolute wonderful stay at the Waterfall camp in January 2015. I would recommend this site to anyone who are looking for a child friendly, secluded getaway. We swam in the crystal clear rock pools and enjoyed stargazing in the evenings. Make sure to bring warm bedding cause as we found out even the warmest days ends with a bit of a chill in the Cederberg! We will definitively return fro a longer stay next time."

"What an awesome breathtaking stay filled with tranquility. The juicy plums will remain a memory till our next visit. Our three boys (11, 8, 1) year old, enjoyed themselves to the max. "An unbelievable camping experience. I spent two weeks there, I'd original booked for one but refused to leave, so added on on an additional week. The setting is magnificent with the river, grass, trees, fynbos, walks, bomas, great ablution block with hot and cold running, fridge facilities, recently laid down power, wood, and fishing. (I caught this monster yellowfish, this alone was lekker). I didn't bother pitching a tent, and just slept in one of the bomas. Over the weekend when site filled up a bit, it still felt quiet, most of the sites are shielded from the others to give max privacy. And the entire campsite is immaculately kept. Suikerbossie moves to the top of my camping list, and I'll definitely be back. I have no hesitation in giving it 5-stars."

"We had a fantastic stay at Suikerbossie. Being the beginning of May it could have gone either way with the weather but we were lucky to have lovely warm sunny days. The nights were chilly but certainly not enough to put us off. Facilities were fantastic, bathrooms very clean and neat and also just enough loos and showers so we never had to wait for our turn. So many fun things to do from swimming in the canyon (very cold water at this time of year but we did it) to "slip 'n sliding" and canoeing down the river as well as gorgeous scenery and sunsets to feed the soul. Karin, Johnie and their family were so accommodating even offering to go to the shop in Citrusdal for us when we needed resupplying after some of our food got stolen by a hungry animal. We stayed in the old caravan which had a well appointed outdoor kitchenette and dining area, perfect for us non-equipped campers. The camping sites though also looked very nice and comfortable with each of them having their own "lapa" construction and braai area. I would highly recommend Suikerbossie and would love to return in the summer to get the full benefit of all the activities. Plus next time we will get a guide to show us all the bushman paintings in the area."

"Lovely rustic campsite. Brought back memories of camping as kids. The river was lovely to swim in and to kayak as well. On the down side, possibly because the camp was full, we found it difficult to get hot water, so had to take a few cold showers. Don't forget to take a walk down to the canyon, a waterhole and waterfall where you can spend some time relaxing in the pool. Karen was also kind enough to allow us to swim at Waterval, a private camp a little way from the happy campers (after the occupants had left of course). Will definitely recommend Suikerbossie."

"This is the best campsite we have every stayed at. We stayed here weekend of 22-24 November and hired Kuil Campsite. It is equipped with a large gazebo with cement work top, two-plate gas top, long picnic bench and ground floor sheeting. There is enough space for 4 or 5 tents on the perfectly manicured lawns around the gazebo. Set right on the river bank with stunning views and a rope swing over the river. The ablutions are about 30 meters away in a very smart building. The mens and womens ablutions each have three showers (with hot water) and four toilets and two hand basins. There is also an area where there is a fridge and freezer with ice (for sale). On the outside of the ablution building is a double washing up sink for dishes. There are numerous waterfalls and rock pools to visit as well as canoeing and swimming right in front of the site. Beautiful sunsets, sunrises and endless spots for sundowners. They are also pet friendly, so you're welcome to take your dog(s) along for the camping trip too."

"Simply fantastic! We had a great time in a great place. We plan to be back as soon as we can and are recommending it to our friends as well. We stayed in a tent which bordered along the river, spent hours hiking, swimming and enjoying the sights along the water. Next time I would bring a fishing rod as well although I'm sure if I had asked the Hanekom family would have made a plan with that like they did with any of our other requests. Bring lots of sunscreen for the days and a warm blanket for the nights as temperatures can vary. Miss it and miss out!"
