What does an Marketing Writer look like at Western?

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, our Marketing Writer is a member of the shared service departments who support our business unites across western Canada. Everyone have a direct influence on our ability to deliver results, through the excellent service and support they provide.

The success of you and your team stems from your ability to provide superior writing skills in support of the marketing materials for all of Westerns' business units. You have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and motivated team who all contribute to the achievement of business goals and targets.
  • Coordinate the writing, development and proofreading of the marketing materials used on all platforms
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content for conferences and ongoing sales initiatives
  • Support and coordinate all aspects of the media relations activities; including writing press releases, updating media kits, tracking media hits and producing internal and external e-news alerts/newsletters
  • Review and proof all content for Western's online websites for accuracy

What We Are Looking For

Being successful in this role requires an ability to manage a variety of tasks and deadlines while delivering excellent service and contributing to a positive work environment by encompassing our Guiding Principles.
  • Experience in writing and editing press releases, articles, newsletters, and brochures
  • Previous experience using Adobe CS - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Prior history of working in a variety of social media platforms is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • History of working independently, on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Temporary contract to cover a maternity leave (Feb2017)
  • Full Time – 37.5 hours/week
  • Monday - Friday schedule
