DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday

Expired and unused prescription drugs can be dropped off at several El Paso locations Saturday as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The medicine will be collected from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with no questions asked as part of a community program by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement agencies. Liquids, needles and inhalers are not accepted.

The national take back program began six years ago in an effort to help fight prescription drug abuse and addiction.

Some of the El Paso area locations are:

• El Paso police regional command centers: Westside, 4801 Osborne Drive; Northeast, 9600 Dyer St.; and Pebble Hills, 10780 Pebble Hills Blvd.

• El Paso County sheriff's patrol stations: Montana, 12501 Montana Ave.; Clint, 190 San Elizario Road; Vinton, 436 E. Vinton Road

• UTEP Campbell Building, 1101 N. Campbell St.; Franklin High School, 900 N. Resler Drive; Chapin High School, 7000 Dyer St.; Texas Department of Public Safety, 11612 Scott Simpson Drive; and University Medical Center of El Paso Ysleta clinic, 300 S. Zaragoza Road

• Anthony Police Department, 401 Wildcat Drive; Horizon City Police Department, 14999 Darrington Road; and Socorro Police Department, 670 Poona Road
