SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - In broad daylight on a Monday afternoon, two men were looking for trouble.

Home surveillance video shows them on the back patio of a San Marcos home trying to find a way inside. The two then smash a glass door and enter the home.

Within just 60 seconds they reappear on tape. A man in the white shirt holding a jewelry case jumps over the fence and takes off. The second man carries out a safe.

Struggling to get it over the fence pushes it over and gets away. The homeowner tells 10News no one was home at the time.

We're hiding his identity for his protection. He says he's now worried about his family's safety.

"Very upset, scared, nervous, because I feel violated. I need public help to find my safe box," the homeowner said.

While the items taken weren't expensive, they're hard to replace.

"They took my safe box, which contains all my family documents, and my souvenirs, they also took my wife's jewelry case," the homeowner said.

Another neighbor tells 10News he's just glad it didn't end worse.

"Wow, yea surreal, I could tell he was very upset and traumatized and it was terrible that any person would have to have that type of invasion in their home. Especially catching it on camera, you wonder what would have happened if someone was home there," the neighbor said.
