Job Summary

Shoreline is a comprehensive community college offering excellent academic, professional/technical and work force training programs to meet the lifelong learning needs of its global community. Located on 83 acres just 10 miles north of downtown Seattle, Shoreline is situated among native evergreens with a campus full of brilliant colors during spring, summer and fall seasons.

The office of Enrollment and Financial Aid Services provides a wide variety of services to students, including college admission, maintenance of student records and Degree Audit, quarterly registration, placement entry, and evaluation of college credit, review of requirements for graduation and the processing and disbursement of financial aid

Under the general supervision of the Program Support Supervisor, this position is responsible for evaluating a wide variety of educational complex credentials for academic programs at Shoreline Community College. The Credentials Evaluator will apply departmental knowledge to consultation with faculty, advisors, students and the campus community regarding Enrollment & Financial Aid processes and the Degree Audit Module.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing, evaluating and determining the equivalency of transferable credit from incoming student transcripts and apply academic credits to the College's degrees and certificates
  • Providing consultation for faculty, advisors, students and the campus regarding process and procedure including college, ICRC requirements, Prior Learning Assessment, and incoming credit for transfer and financial aid purposes
  • Participating in campus advising and credential evaluator staff meetings and attend statewide conferences
  • Independently exploring creative ways of streamlining work processes and recommending alternatives
  • Collaborating with evaluators on campus and across the state in resolution of issues around transferable credit and Degree Audit.  
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of admissions, registrar's, or related office experience, or general/vocational teaching and administrative certification credentials evaluation OR equivalent education/experience
Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Experience working in a community college
  • Experience working with international transcripts and credentials
Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft applications such as Access, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Credit equivalency/completion requirements; FERPA; and other policies related to admission/enrollment
  • Degree, certificate and high school completion requirements
Skill in:
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
  • Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities
  • Working in a high paced, open office setting interacting with others in a professional manner
  • Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels
  • Working with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills when meeting multiple conflicting deadlines

 

Conditions of Employment

Physical Work Environment:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements.
  • Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.

Term of Employment / Salary:
This position is allocated to pay range 37, under the Washington State Department of Personnel Higher Education salary schedule.  Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.

  • In compliance with the Immigration and Nationality Act, proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required at the time of hire.
  • A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington State Federation of Employees (WFSE) or payment of service fee is required.

  • This position is overtime eligible.
