Libby Riedl scored twice on the day to give the Black Bears the shut out victory over America East opponent UMass Lowell, 3-0 Thursday afternoon. The Black Bears exploded for three second half goals to secure their 11th victory on the season and are now 11-5 overall and 4-1 in America East play. UMass Lowell falls to 7-8 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.
In the first half, Maine and UMass Lowell were tied in shots with five a piece. The River Hawks held the advantage in penalty corners with five compared to Maine's three.
Emma Cochran had three saves in the first half.
Five minutes into the second half, Maine received a penalty corner.
Casey Crowley shot off of the corner and UMass Lowell goalie Eva Berkhout came up with the save,
Ella Mosky was there to cleanup the rebound and give Maine their first goal of the day to take a 1-0 lead.Â

Libby Riedl for the Black Bears' second goal of the game as Maine took a 2-0 advantage.
With less than six minutes remaining in the game,
Danielle Aviani dribbled to down the left side and flipped the ball towards the goal where Riedl tapped it in for her second goal of the game securing a Black Bear win, 3-0.
Emily Corbett earned the win and is now 5-2 on the season, while Eva Berkhout receives the loss and is also 5-2.
The Black Bears have a quick turnaround and play America East rival Albany tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.
