Augusta, GA — In just a matter of weeks voters across the country will head to the polls to place their vote for who will serve as the 45th President of the United States. This political season has resulted in a great divide among many voters, so we invited Dr. Craig Albert — a political scientist and assistant professor at Augusta University — to join us and break down the state of the election.
Dr. Albert shares how he encouraged all of his students to watch the first presidential debate; many of those students found it laughable how the candidates presented things and avoided questions. He explains that both presidential candidates are struggling with reaching these younger voters because neither Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump understand this group of millennials or what they want to hear. Many of these young voters, he explains, do not like Trump, but they also do not trust Clinton.
We also discuss the extreme negativity of this election. Beyond the personal attacks, neither candidate is talking about policy — particularly foreign policy and their agendas with what they plan to do. This is a fact that extremely concerning to many voters.
Our discussion also delves into the third-party candidates, political polls, and Dr. Albert’s prediction for who will be elected as our next president. It’s a conversation that will be continued over the coming weeks leading up to election day on November 8.
