RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Despite a 2-0 defeat at Dominican University in their NACC season finale, the Edgewood College women's soccer team clinched the No. 2 seed and a first round bye for the upcoming NACC tournament.
With only two regular season matches remaining, the Eagles will face a to-be-determined opponent in the NACC semifinals on Tuesday, November 1 after clinching their third, top-2 NACC finish in the last five seasons.
The Eagles (12-4, 8-2 NACC) were limited by a stout Dominican defense and were shutout for just the third time this season. Freshman Hewan Schade launched two of the Eagles' season-low four shots, and had the only shot on goal. It was their second-straight shutout against the Stars after a 3-0 defeat a year ago.
The Stars (11-5, 6-3 NACC) outshot the Eagles, 14-4, and clinched a spot in the NACC tournament with goals in the 11th and the 75th minutes. Eagle goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook collected a game-high seven saves in defeat as the Eagles dropped to 6-5-1 in the all-time series.
Next up for the Eagles is a Senior Day sendoff in their home finale against St. Norbert College on Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m.
