Invented by Austrian mountaineer Karl Prusik, the prusik hitch is used because it is lighter than other options, using friction to help the climber ascend to the summit. This pilsner is also lighter than our other options, highlighted by local Northwest hops, it's the essential lager in our arsenal.

Draft at brewery. Sampled on opening night, and retrying to see if there is any improvement. Tastes better, but is more lager than pils. No sign of the hops anywhere. Grainy, bready. Slick and slippery, but no crisp back bite. Nowhere near a pils. Not bad, but not in target for style. Rerate 9/3/17. Still comes off more as a lager, but pretty tasty. Not hoppy enough for a pils.

i didnt get the buttery flaws in this one that the other reviewer noted and was so turned off by, and while this didnt exactly blow my mind, it wasnt a technical nightmare either. a simple and somewhat bland pils type, probably less interesting than it should be, just tastes sort of safe, but its plenty clean as they go, with a minimal yeast complexion and a softer hopping than is traditional in the style, its yellow in the glass, doesnt hold much of a head, but has nice clarity. aroma and flavor are mild throughout, with the simple pils malt leading the way almost by default. the hops have some balancing bitterness real late, but not much character, and the yeast is close to invisible, a little bit of a european element to it, but its there and gone so fast. its rather dry, a little thin in feel, and has some trace minerality to it, basic but not bad. i have been much more impressed with the ambitious beers from these guys, a pickle gose, a girl scout cookie stout, that sort of thing, than i have been with the traditional styles. i had this on tap at a fine dining establishment, and it seemed a little out of place in terms of overall quality, but i didnt get the technical flaws of the other reviewer here.

Draft at the pub... Beautiful golden with a great white head... Goes down hill from here. So much DMS on the nose it literally triggered my gag reflex.. Buttery diacetyl bomb.. Husky pale malt... Astringent/tannic bitterness does not come from hops... Not clean at all, no where for all the problems to hide. Was a lager yeast even used?
