The Halifax Public Gardens are ever evolving. See the versatility and symmetry of the Victorian Gardenesque style established in the 1800s, popular then and still in practice here in the only true Victoria Garden in North America.

Bursary

The  Suellen Murray Educational Bursary was established in 2014. It is awarded annually to recognize Suellen’s love of the Gardens and encourage and support an educational project or activity relative to The Halifax Public Gardens. Click here for details of the bursary and the process to apply.

Tours

Free one-hour horticultural and historical tour of the Halifax Public Gardens (from June through October), daily at 10:30 am, 12 pm, 1:30 pm, and 3 pm. Special tours can be arranged by reservation.

Diana Returned

Diana is once again enjoying her commanding view of the Gardens. Her sister statue Ceres has returned also, and Flora was restored and returned in the Spring of 2022.

History of Carpet Beds

2020 Bursary award recipient, Tracy Jessen, began to compile written information, photographs and interviews pertaining to the history and installation of the two carpet beds, also know as floral logos, in the Halifax Public Gardens.
