The officers' families received the Louisiana Law Enforcement Medal of Honor, recognizing their service and ultimate sacrifice to protect their communities.

The program was established by the Louisiana Legislature back in 1997.

With Wednesday's addition, 93 officers have now been remembered with the medal of honor.
