Jacqui Patterson is director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program and co-founder of Women of Color United. In this Academy Town Square, she will discuss how community leaders she’s met across the country are addressing environmental and climate justice as a human and civil rights issue. Her program advocates for the reduction of harmful emissions, greater energy efficiency, and stronger community resilience, especially in low-income urban areas including Philadelphia. Patterson has worked as a policy analyst for ActionAid and for IMA World Health assisting medical facilities and programs in 23 countries in Africa and the Caribbean.
