Daniel Digby is cursed by his good looks. After years of sexual harassment, he’s convinced wearing a wedding ring is the answer to fending off unwanted attention.
CiCi Newport is cursed by her family’s money. When men look her way, all they see are dollar signs. After two years, her “no dating” rule is still in place.
After a chance meeting, they’re entwined for the holidays. What starts as attraction might just be the holiday cure they’re looking for.
Lindsey Gray spends her days and most of her nights creating characters, over thinking everything, and trying to remember all the things on her massive to-do list. One thing that is always at the top of her list is writing something she hopes others will enjoy. Her journey into authordom began when her first novel was published in 2010. Through trials, tribulations, and learning how to work well with others in the author sandbox, she has found a joy she never thought she would know.
Her many lists also include mothering her two children, devoting time to her handsome hubby, formatting novels for other authors, and hosting her weekly radio show, Gray Matters, on TMV Cafe Internet Radio.
Holiday Cure for the Cursed by Lindsey Gray is a sweet novella that warms the heart. When I first saw the title I wondered if it was some strange twist on a paranormal romance, but thankfully I was wrong. The “Cursed” in Ms. Gray’s story is CiCi Newport, cursed by her family’s money. Daniel Digby is the cure.
Two people with good reasons not to get involved, stumble upon each other at the local coffee shop. While getting to know each other, things take a turn. The twist is good.
Ms. Gray certainly wrote an interesting tale and I just love all the characters in this book. Well, maybe not one, but I’m not going to tell who that is.
A quick read, this book gets you in the holiday mood and makes you want to order a peppermint mocha and see what happens.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest review.
This was a quick, Christmas-time read. The characters are unique as the male and female roles switch places from the typical romance trope. Personally, I love when an author steps outside the norm. A story of a billionairess who is tired of men wanting her only for her fame and fortune meets a good-looking man who is sick of women only wanting him for his body. Refusing to share their true identities in hopes of getting to know each other on a more personal level, because a bit of a sleigh ride when their identities and secrets are revealed.
•Another great story by Lindsey! This story has two broken people who want to be happy but because of circumstances out of their control have had their hearts and lives trampled on over and over. So they both decide they'll try something a little different. CiCi's father left her a billionaire when he died so every man sees her as dollar signs instead of the woman she is. Will she ever find someone who actually sees HER? Daniel's family genes have been great to them all. Unfortunately Daniel would prefer they didn't. He'd rather earn his way by actually doing his job and not get all their attention because of his fantabulous looks. They've caused him nothing but major troubles. Will he ever find someone he can actually be himself with? What's their something different? You'll have to read HOLIDAY CURE FOR THE CURSED to find out. It'll be a fun quick read. This is the second story of Lindsey's I've read and I'm looking forward to checking out other books she's written. Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 16 and older. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
This book had me smiling and laughing the entire time. Author Lindsey Gray takes us on a journey of finding love when we least expect it.I love how she brings to very unlikely characters together with a little nudge from the reality.
So, what happens when you have two people that do not want a relationship bump into each other at a coffee shop? You get a super cute holiday romance.
CiCi Newport does not date. Not ever. All any man has ever wanted form her is her fathers money. I loved CiCi! This girl was gorgeous and never let it go to her head. She did what she was passionate about and did not let people let dictate her.
Daniel Digby was dropped dead gorgeous. So much so that he has to file a sexual harassment suit against his former boss. I really felt for him. He devises a plan to wear a wedding ring so that women would start leaving him alone.
Daniel and CiCi both wanted to keep their true self from each other. But slowly they start to feel for each other.
This novella revolves around the holiday seasons and how good looks and wealth can be a curse instead of a blessing.
Daniel has been on the receiving end of being harassed for his good looks. He is a chick magnet who doesn't always welcome the attention. Since the last incident ended badly, he is now on his guards and has put the necessary measures in place to avoid such confrontations.
CiCi is a billionnaire who attracts the wrong guys. They see her money before they see her and as her last relationship ended in disaster, she avoids getting involved.
They meet by chance and become friends and then lovers. They are both keeping secrets and when these get out, they have to find a solution. Quickly! Could this solution be just the cure that they both need?
This is a short and easy to read romance with a few twists and lots of love. It brings about the warm and fuzzy Christmas feelings.
I received a complimentary eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Another cute holiday romance about two people who are cursed when it comes to love and romance. I enjoyed this book even if it was a little bit cheesy at times but then again the holidays can be cheesy so it's all good. Cici is a billionaire heiress who has been burned and Daniel is a good looking guy who is always getting mauled by women. They meet at the local coffee shop and take a friendship. Things progress and a romance starts. It was cute, fast paced and just a little far fetched at one point but nonetheless I did enjoy the story.
A cute holiday story. Daniel has been sexually harassed by employees. CiCi guys just want her for her money and steal from her. Daniel and CiCi meet one day at a coffee shop and hit it off. But what happens when everything comes crashing down? Will Daniel be able to open his heart to CiCi? Has CiCi finally met her one? Very short story but perfect for Christmas romance 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****
This was an interesting take on two aspects of romance that I, honestly, take for granted: wealth and appearance.
By "take for granted" I mean I have certain expectations going into a romance. A good looking guy/gal is confident in their appearance and welcomes the attention. A wealthy guy/gal isn't trying to hide their fortune.
This romance kind of obliterated my expectations, lol.
Daniel and CiCi take us through an array of emotions and thoughts as they get to know one another without knowing who the other really is. They know each other by first name. Last names are kept off the table because maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to make something more of their chance encounter before their last names possibly send it to hell in a hand basket.
This story's about taking a chance, risking the biggest thing possible to have what's right: your heart. That leap is enormous when both characters are keeping secrets while wanting something more with one another. But the risk was worth it. The gain was worth it.
A feel-good romance that's perfect not just for the holiday season but for anytime of the year you need a pick-me-up, make-me-feel-something, pull-me-into-your-fictional-world kind of story.
Sarah's Review: Thanks to Lindsey Grey and Ren Rom Publishing for giving us the opportunity to read and review this anthology. This is the first story I have read of Ms. Grey's and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. With it being a short story, it makes it a little tougher to review because I don't ever want to give anything away.
This story had just the right amount of romance but also enough drama that I truly enjoyed it. The prologue caught my attention and then I was hooked with the first chapter.
When your past is filled with things that can leave you feeling bad and more cautious, fate has a way of providing a way to help you overcome those horrible things. For me, this story gave me hope that good things will come in time. Even romance when you are least expecting it.
I've read more than one of Lindsey's amazing books and find myself falling in love with her writing with each new book. In Holiday Cure for the Cursed, I found myself genuinely cheering for CiCI and Daniel, hoping that they'd both be able to allow themselves the chance to be happy. Holiday Cure for the Cursed is a sweet, short read that will leave every reader with a smile on their face and a wish to find that type of love. Well done, Ms. Gray!
