Hi there. Thank you for checking out my profile.

It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.

Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.

With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…

Jovy Larson has four weeks to prove to her grandfather that she has what it takes to become CEO of the family company. Her task, to set up a gluten-free, vegan food café in the heart of Texas. If only her landlord wasn't such a jackass...

Stone Mitchum left his Army Ranger days behind him. Now with help from his brother, and two buddies he is working to build his company that helps to transition veterans back into society. The last thing he needs is a distraction in the form of a sassy mouthed little tenant...

With sparks flying, and a jealous cow to contend with, can these two find a gluten-free HEA in the heart of cattle country?

I've never read anything by this author before, but I will be remedying that right soon. I ADORED this book. It was super sweet. It had a warm close-knit friends feel to it. Had a very likable hero and heroine. Had an amazing cast of secondary characters that I CAN'T wait to read about. It was well written and kept me turning the pages. It was steamy. It was humorous. It was a TINY bit angsty (near the end). I wish it had an epilogue, but since this is the first in a series I am sure we will be seeing more from this couple (and LuLa Belle) in upcoming books.

Honestly, I can't think of a SINGLE thing I didn't enjoy about this one. Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.

For the past year, ex-army ranger Stone Mitchum hast put 110% into Foxtrot Construction, a company he started with his brother Brick and two ex-ranger friends to hire and help veterans reincorporate into civilian life. Having the responsibility of the company and his men he has no time for distractions like relationships, but when a sexy filly from Philly sparks his attention, he’s helpless to resist her.

Jovy Larson will be in Joyful for a month to convince her grandfather that she’s the woman for the job to take over as CEO of Larson Industries, fulfilling her lifelong dream, and keeping her promise she made to her father on his deathbed. But a close encounter with a jealous cow and one horseback ride with a delicious cowboy who just happens to be her landlord has her putting her business degree to good use in Stone’s company and reconsidering her dream.

This is my first Donna Michaels book and it was a sweet and enjoyable read. Jovy is smart, caring and adorably perfect for the surly, uptight Stone, and yet Stone’s dedication to his men is commending. The two of them heat up the pages with their impossible to ignore attraction. Even their relationship threatened to give me cavities with so much sweetness, I got caught up in their romance from the start to finish.

I enjoyed getting to know Stone and Jovy as much as a liked getting to know Brick and the rest of the At Ease Ranch guys and I can’t wait to read more about them. I also liked Michaels’ highlight on the issues veterans face when rejoining society.

I liked that this was a light, easy read. The writing and pacing was good, with as many funny moments as sweet and sexy ones.

In a Ranger’s Arms is book #1 in the Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. It is a standalone sweet and gooey contemporary romance. Told from two points of view with a happy ending.

IN A RANGER’S ARMS (The Men of At Ease Ranch, #1) by Donna Michaels has a ranch full of hard bodied, ex-military men, a curvy and intelligent heroine, smart, snappy and flirty dialogue and a love struck cow named Lula Belle.

Former Army Ranger Stone Mitchum has big plans for the Texas ranch and construction company he, his brother and two of their Ranger friends have bought to help ease the transition for ex-military men back into society. Stone is a born leader who personally shoulders the guilt for any problem and especially when one of their close buddies tries to commit suicide. He has put his own personal life on hold to devote all his attention to the ranch and men, until he has a run in with his new tenant. His mind might say no, but his body is ready to go.

Jovy Larson is in a contest with her cousin for control of her Grandfather’s company. She has four weeks to show the most profit, but there is more to this contest. Jovy has to run a gluten-free, vegan restaurant in Texas cattle country. As she is hanging her sign for her restaurant, The V-Spot, a crazy cow comes charging towards her ladder. Luckily Stone is there to catch Jovy and save her from harm. Jovy wants her surly, and sexy landlord immediately, but she wants to win control of her Grandfather’s company, too. They both know she will be gone in four weeks. Surely they can keep their hands off each other for that long.

What makes this romance POP is the dialogue. It is completely natural and true to life. Every snarky, sweet, emotional, funny comment fits the character and that moment in the story. Jovy is a strong, intelligent business woman who has a heart of gold and is open and honest. Stone is the strong leader who takes too much responsibility for things he can’t control. Ms. Michaels brings these two together is a heartwarming and sexy hot romance that has you cheering them on throughout the story. I am looking forward to the other men of At Ease Ranch meeting their perfect matches.

Every now and then I just need a book to cleanse the angst and for whatever reason this book is one that has stuck in my mind and in my GoodReads feeds forever so I figured what the hell. Thankfully this book delivered all that I expected and a little bit more.

The characters were so human and their actions so understandable that I felt like I knew them from the get go. Neither of them played games or did anything stupid. And maybe it’s partially due to the new adult binge I have been on recently but it was really nice that they were mature and acted like adults.

It was more insta lust than insta love but the relationship did progress quickly and there was a heap of steamy sex scenes along with the growing romance. I love that once they decided to move forward with a relationship they didn’t mess around or try to hide it. There was no ridiculous jealousy or other man or woman drama and the hiccups they did have weren’t over anything stupid and or petty even if they were a little misguided.

Stone and Jovy were great together and the inclusion of Lula Belle absolutely made my day reading this. I had a few laughs, a few very minor sniffles and a great break from reality reading this book. I can’t wait to see where the rest of the men from the ranch are going to go with their love lives in the future. As well as seeing the ranch and business grow and of course catch up with the characters I already know and like. I am however hoping that Blanche gets her own ranger in the very near future.

So....when is the next book coming out? I need it like NOW!

This was my first Donna Michaels romance and I AM SO GLAD I PICKED IT UP!!! Stone and Jovy were steaming up my kindle and I was LOVING IT! Donna knows how to write some saucy scenes and the attraction between Stone and Jovy was literally jumping off the pages. I was sucked in from the first chapter and I didn't want to put it down! This was one of those books that you want to forget everything else and hide in your closet and read until you get to the last page!

The flow was smooth, the love story built with each interaction and I literally fell in love right along with them!

This is one of those series that you will be addicted and will be waiting on the edge of your seat for the next in the series to release! Donna Michaels has given me a new group of military heroes to love! Fans of Lori Wilde and Candis Terry will simply ADORE IN A RANGER'S ARMS!

This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, contemporary romance novel. It has a likable, intelligent female protagonist, a former military, kind and caring male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, a touch of humor, and a heart-warming romance. I listened to the audio version of this novel, and the narrator, Joshua Macrae, has a captivating voice and does an excellent job depicting the characters and their personalities. I am looking forward to reading the other entries in this series with great anticipation.

Where to start?
For starters I’m in the minority here. I truly wish that it would be different but alas it isn’t. I know, I know we can’t like every book we read but sometimes you see why everyone else does and then you just don’t get why you don’t.
Stone Jackass Mitchum is ex-military turned cowboy is offering a safe haven for veterans who need a fresh start. A place to stay, to heal and to work with Foxtrot Construction. Stone, Brick, Vince & Cord founded Foxtrot together. After a tragic incident Stone has put his life on hold. No matter what he thinks that would have happened. People find a way no matter the obstacle. But getting back to Stone.
All business and no play makes Stone a very dull rock.
His friends are urging him to go out and well get laid. But there is a special someone.
There was only one girl in his life right now. She was big and sweet, with the warmest chocolate-brown eyes that melted his heart. Lula Belle. The cute black-and-white cow he always stopped to feed. Catching his scent, the old girl stopped grazing and turned toward him.
He’s off to town to collect the rent so that Foxtrot can do more for veterans.
Jovy Larson has been sent to Texas to sell Vegan food in a county filled with steak, sausages, bacon and anything meat. She has 4 weeks to prove that she can run a successful business to take over Larson Industries. She is getting her café ready until a hit and moo throws her into the arms.
Their attraction is instant when Stone catches Jovy. But then thanks to foot/mouth syndrome it goes south pretty quick.
My annoyance started when they both kept on repeating that they were not interested. Jovy had been there done that she was leaving in four weeks. Yeah we get it sweetheart you’re leaving in 4 weeks now shut up and save a horse ride a cowboy.
Stone’s whole I can’t because of everyone else needing him. Come on be selfish. I know that is also what makes him a good guy. But still grated on my nerves. And he wouldn’t have been able to stop it.
There are funny moments here and the book is enjoyable and I would recommend reading it. As I wrote it’s just not for me.

P.S. What were their parents thinking? Stone & Brick I mean really come on. I can accept Stone but Brick?

I’m wasn’t getting any inspiration on this one.

Book received by Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Shelly's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Jovy is in a small Texas town because her grandfather is trying to pick the new CEO to run the business and she has the challenge of making a profit on gluten-free, vegan food in the heart of cattle country. Challenge accepted she is out to prove herself worthy of the job, but one, tall sexy former ranger and his friends are going to shake up her life and make her rethink what she truly wants.

Stone has his hands full trying to run a business with his buddies and brother that he doesn’t need a woman to mess up his life, until one, sexy woman falls into his arms and sparks a fire in him that he put out a while ago. But is he willing to open up to Jovy or keep a tight lid on his emotions knowing she is not sticking around.

Ms Michaels has done it again. What a great story Stone and Jovy’s book was. Just the right amount of romance, sexy, fun and excitement to keep you turning the pages and looking forward to where book number two might take you.

ARC provided with no expectations.

This is the first novel I've read by this author as well as the start of a new wounded warrior series, and it gets a 4-star rating from this reader.

While I think some of the character names are truly strange (Jovy, Stone, Brick and Cord, for example), this is a very sexy, very intense read and yet it still manages to be a heartwarming, hopeful, sometimes funny and sometimes heartbreaking wounded warrior romance, and it was such an enjoyable read.

Stone Mitchum, a former Army Ranger and his brother, Brick, also a former Army Ranger, have inherited the family ranch. Along with their Ranger pals, Vince and Cord, they decide to create a haven for wounded warriors--a safe place to deal with their PTSD issues among people who truly understand. In addition to the At Ease Ranch, they also form Foxtrot Construction, hiring the men on the ranch as well as other returning veterans, to learn job skills, earn a living and find a purpose to their lives. They are struggling with old, run-down equipment, antiquated buildings, their own personal issues and a lack of funds, but their determination to succeed is admirable, and in addition to inheriting the ranch, Stone and his brother also inherited many rental properties in their small town of Joyful, Texas..

Into this scenario, the author adds Philly native, Jovy Larsen, one of two possible successors as CEO of the very successful, family-owned, Larsen Industies. Her grandfather, the soon to be retiring CEO has issued a one-month challenge to discover whether she, with her degree in business, or her rival for the position, Ross Larsen, III, can, in a single month, open a new business in a new town, one especially unlikely due to their locations, and turn the most profit. Whoever wins will become the new CEO. Jovy is tasked with opening and operating a vegan restaurant in a tiny Texas town, her rival is tasked with selling snowmobiles in Hawaii.

Jovy gets off to a rocky start when her new landlord, Stone Mitchum, arrives to collect her first weeks' rent, which she insists was already paid by her grandfather, who also paid the security deposit but she can't prove it. Without even knowing who he is, she insults Stone--the two are instantly attracted to one another, but Jovy knows she's only going to be there for a month.

Stone hasn't felt the need of a woman in his life since his sexual involvement with a waitress more than a year ago, made him ignore a phone call from Leo, one of the deeply troubled veterans at the ranch. As a result, Leo nearly died of an alcohol and drug-related overdose and ever since then, Stone has been super-vigilant and totally committed to the veterans in his charge. But as the attraction between Stone and Jovy grows, the author really cranks up the heat on these two characters, and prepare to have your air conditioning turned on to its highest setting.

Both Jovy and Stone have many challenges to face, and much to learn, about themselves and each other. Stone is willing to sacrifice his own happiness to save the ranch and try to bring more returning veterans of both sexes there to heal and to prosper. Generous to a fault, Jovy is on-board with that plan, but will Stone accept her help or will his single-mindedness tear them apart? What will happen when Jovy's grandfather decides who the next CEO will be?

These are two wonderfully drawn characters with good hearts and lots of challenges to face and this reader can hardly wait until the next installment of this very promising new series.

Jovy is in Joyful for a challenge. She has to start a gluten free vegan café in a place filled with meat lovers and make it a success. If she pulls it off the family business is hers. It isn't an easy job, but Jovy is positive she can do it and there are a few great advantages of being in the Texan countryside. One of them is the men, they're both sexy and chivalrous. Jovy has to leave after a month and isn't planning on starting anything serious and Stone seems to be the perfect candidate to make her stay as memorable as possible.

Stone used to be an Army Ranger and together with his friends he has two companies to run. He wants to help his fellow veterans as much as he can. One time he wasn't there when he should have been and he can't forgive himself for it. That's why he stays away from women, he can't let history repeat itself. However, when he meets Jovy he can't help but breaking his resolve. He completely loses his head when he's around her. Can Stone afford it to be close to a woman again?

Stone used the be in the army and can sometimes be a bit rigid, but he's also kindhearted and caring. He does everything in his power to make the lives of his fellow veterans as fulfilled as he can. He forgets himself in the process and it was interesting to see what happened when he finally starts thinking about himself again. Jovy is good-natured and she feels at ease with everyone, I loved that character trait. She's smart and organized and she knows how to have fun as well. She's perfect for Stone and they have amazing chemistry. There are plenty of sparks flying between them, but there's also a warm friendship from the start, which is a great combination.

In a Ranger's Arm is a wonderful romantic story about true love. Jovy and Stone are soul mates and they instantly know it when they first meet. Although Stone isn't planning on falling for a woman ever again and Jovy has to leave after a month they can't stay away from each other. Their situation is far from ideal, but their connection is too strong. I loved that Donna Michaels has chosen a love like this to write about, it's the most precious thing there is and she describes it in a beautiful way. In a Ranger's Arms is a sweet sexy story with an fantastic meaningful message, true love will conquer all.

Bask in the sexy, snarky, flirty banter between two very unlikely people. Stone has his focus aimed in a direction that does not include the opposite sex. He has a job to do and having his libido engaged was not on the to do list for the day or the week. That was until Jovy.

I got to say that this was so much fun. The banter was fun. The antics were just that icing to send things over the top. There was more to Jovy than Stone could have every expected. There were other fun and very entertaining characters. Come to find out more about how Stone and Jovy make it work and stay to see the others that makes Ease Ranch the place to be.

Hot damn. Sizzle. Sizzle.

Stone bought his family's ranch with his brother and 2 of their Army friends. The goal is to own a successful construction business that hires veterans while allowing them time to acclimate back to civilian life. Jovy's family owns a successful business and she is in a contest with her cousin to see who will take over for their grandfather who wants to retire. Jovy's task is to open a vegan cafe in the middle of Texas cattle country.
Both Jovy and Stone are likable people. Jovy is able to admit when she made a mistake. Stone was a bit of an asshole at first. Both had insta-lust upon meeting quickly changing into love. It was fast, but worked in this case, because both characters respected and complimented each other. I did think the end and make-up was a bit rushed.
Lula Belle was a riot! I also liked the secondary characters and I will have to keep an eye out for their stories as well.

This is a very heartwarming read that really pulls the reader in with characters you will fall in love with as these men build a ranch for veteran’s getting them ready to go back in to the normal world after fighting and serving their country. This is a subject that is dear to my heart after being penpals to many of our service men and women I know how hard it is for some to come home when they feel like they do not fit in and feel that the only place for them is where they have served. A lot of them just want to go back remembering friend they made and left wondering how they might be and if they are alright. They really need a place and people they can talk to when those at home really do not understand or do not want to listen. For me this book and this ranch gives them all they need to rebuild their lives giving their body and minds back to them. It is really a very touching, heartwarming read that is filled with humor, love and some very hot scenes that really makes this a page turner.

Stone bought his grandfather’s ranch with his buddies from the Army Rangers wanting to give back and help those that have helped so many others. Here they will find a place of peace, love that is calming as they work to get back to their lives. For those that need jobs they have that worked out to by owning a construction company to give them works when they are ready to face the real world. It is a wonderful setup that gives back as much as they give knowing they are doing a wonderful service for our country.

Jovy has opened a restaurant on rental property that Stone owns. She has 30 days to prove to her grandfather that she would make the best CEO of the family business by making as much money as she can. The kicker is the restaurant is an Vegan gluten free and she is doing this in one of the biggest meat eating towns around in Texas. Things do not go as easy for Jovy as she would have liked. Stone is taken back when she falls from a ladder, to top that off there is Lula-Belle who happens to be in love with Stone again the kicker is Lua-Belle is a cow. How in the world can you get on the best side of a love struck cow that doesn’t want you to be near her love? This is where the store gets interesting and very exciting from many mishaps that come their way it leave the reader wondering if they will make it through all the challenges thrown their way. Can love grow and keep them save from all these road blocks or will their love go astray with Lua-Belle walking away with the hot cowboy that is sex on a stick?

Once Jovy meets Stone and see all that he has done for so many of those that have severed she is let with some hard choices does she stay and help him help his friends by organizing his business or go back home to hopefully take over the family company? If she stays how will she handle the love sick cow that is in the running for Stones heart? Which leaves one wondering just how Stone feels about Lula-Belle and all the trouble she is stirring up. I guess you will just have to read and see how these wonderful humorous characters deal with the messes they get in as life throws them a few curves.

I can’t wait to read more about these wonderful hero’s that have helped build this ranch for our veterans. I loved the characters, the humor and the twist the author puts on this story. I really thought this was very well written keeping the read invested and very entertained. I found myself laughing out loud at this compelling read that pulled me in giving me a story I could not put down.

This was such a fun read, sweet & sexy Stone had me right from the start....and his "girlfriend" Lulabelle was HYSTERICAL!
In a Ranger's Arms (The Men of At Ease Ranch, #1) by Donna Michaels

One would think that the way Stone and Jovy met wouldn't lead to anything other than animosity towards one another and maybe at first the dislike was there but that changed in a blink of an eye when Jovy landed in Stones arms.
In a Ranger's Arms (The Men of At Ease Ranch, #1) by Donna Michaels

The chemistry was great between Stone & Jovy but what I enjoyed more was the fun they had, this wasn't insta-love but it was definitely insta-lust. It seemed that Stone needed Jovy to help him relax, he was always so worried about everything whether it was the ranch, the construction business, his brother, or the Veteran's that he was helping out, Stone always took everything very seriously and needed a bit of lightness that Jovy gave him. There were a couple of times in the story that I felt bad for all that he put on himself but then quickly realized that it made him the man he is and he was perfect for Jovy.

Jovy is also under a lot of pressure (seriously opening a vegan Cafe in the heart of cattle country!?!? What was her grandfather thinking when he set her up with that business?) she needed to show a bigger profit than her cousin did in his endeavor after their four week time limit so that she would be named a grandfathers successor and become the CEO of Larson Industries. Not only does she have the pressure of the contest on her shoulders but she is a meat lover that has to be vegan for the next month as well, can she withstand the pressure and let her guard down a bit to have fun with Stone?
In a Ranger's Arms (The Men of At Ease Ranch, #1) by Donna Michaels

This was a great start to the The Men of At Ease Ranch series I look forward to reading about more of the guys, especially Brick (Stone's older brother) who seems to be allergic to commitment.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Wow I absolutely fell in love with this book: it was funny, intense yet sizzling hot.

Jovy is competing with her cousin to become the next CEO of Larson Industries. She has four weeks to prove herself by selling vegan food. She's determined to win, but that's until she meets Stone.

Stone is determined to run a ranch and help his fellow veterans. He hasn't got time for women or sex: besides the guilt of what happened a year ago still plagues him. That's until he catches the sight of a sexy woman standing on a ladder - his jaw drops, mouth waters and his mind starts going in the gutter lol.

Will desire and lust put a damper on their plans?

This was a fantastic read and I don't think I've ever laughed so much. I couldn't stop laughing when Stone stood there looking at Jovy buns, with his mouth wide open lol. The spark literally ignited when they first met especially, since Jovy can't help herself by thinking that Mr handsome definitely knew about g spots - how could he not, he's gorgeous lol. However, when she expresses her opinion about her 'stubborn', 'strange' and 'jackass' of a landlord - things go downhill quickly - especially, since she discovers, the gorgeous guy in front of her is her landlord lol.

When Stone was being difficult over taking a cheque in case it bounced: I loved Jovy's sassy retaliation:

" 'how do I know this won't bounce?'
'It won't. I promise watch' she grabbed the cheque and dropped it on the floor where it slid under the toe of his boot. 'See? It didn't bounce' " lol.

I loved Lulu Belle, she's a cow - yes a cow - and she's in love with Stone: and no I'm not joking lol. Lulu Belle chases Jovy up a tree and then Jovy completely loses her marbles because she's sitting on the tree arguing with a cow lol. She refers to Lulu as 'his friggin girlfriend' lol - I couldn't help but agree with her lol.

The chemistry between Jovy and Stone was insanely hot - I'm surprised they didn't combust just looking at each other.

This book completely blew me away, it was absolutely amazing. This is the first book I've read by Donna Michaels but it definitely won't be my last. She captivates your attention from the very first page and creates funny, realistic and loveable characters (and animals - I can't leave Lulu Belle out, she made me laugh too lol). I'm definitely adding Donna to my favourite author list - she delivered a book that exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable. If your looking for a hot, steamy, sexy yet funny read look no further - this one is definitely for you!

This story is a great mix of laughter and loving, and tragedy and hardship. It made me smile and sigh, and it made me want to take action to make the world a better place for so many veterans still suffering in different age groups, in different countries, and barely surviving.
Stone Mitchum is a saint. His heart is as big as Texas, and his aim to save and rescue and take care of as many veterans, or people he cares about, as possible. He is such a perfection with his imperfections that it was easy to fall in love with him, cheer for him, and wish him only the best.
Jovy Larson was a perfect match to Stone since her generosity, kindness, positivity, and pure joy of life without being ditzy was the half that made him whole. They are hot as you can't believe it, yet there's such an awe and joy and tenderness in their earth-shattering lovemaking, constant, detailed, lovemaking that it made me sigh. Yes, there are several detailed sex scenes through the story, Jovy and Stone are very affectionate and burning for each other.
The veteran part of the story was uplifting and encouraging because it gave hope. The author managed to mix great, real information about veterans care and suicide numbers into the story without making it sound like the stats were being listed. I admire the brotherhood and the desire to work together to make it better for as many as possible.
Jovy and Stone were both battling an uphill journey with starting the businesses. They helped each other where they could and worked seamlessly together. Some of the business side of the story made me smile. After years of working in the food industry, I would love to meet the cafe owner that makes 'several thousand dollars' profit during the first month in business, not to mention in just a few days with an odd concept in small town Texas. But I can only wish it would be so in reality as well.
Overall the story left me smiling and with a hopeful mind. The characters are engaging and charming, people you want to know more about, and support and cheer for. With the serious undertone, it was a feel-good, lively, and sexy novel that made an impact yet was delightfully entertaining.

In a Ranger’s Arms is a wonderful story and sets the stage for what I’m sure will be a highly successful new series by Donna Michaels.

Stone Mitchem was determined to save the family ranch and create a safe haven for returned soldiers to learn a skill and re-establish their worth and independence. With the help of his brother Brick and fellow Rangers, Cord and Vince, Stone believed his dream could become a reality. But money, freak storms and emotional obligations, have turned this selfless venture into a day-to-day challenge.

Jovy Larson is faced with a challenge that will either win her the CEO position at her grandfather’s company or see her default on her death bed promise to her beloved father. Defeat is not an option; so off to Joyful, Texas she goes to open a Vegan Café in the heart of beef country.

But when nature intervenes and Jovy finds herself literally in the arms of the most captivating man see has ever seen, maybe life in Texas won’t be that bad after all. Stone is poleaxed by the instant attraction he feels when faced with the delectable Jovy and try as he might, those sensual curves are not leaving his thoughts anytime soon.

After a one bone-melting kiss, their promise to keep their distance falls by the wayside, as passion and hot, steamy trysts become more, and more frequent. But when something seems too good to be true, and a blast from the past brings forth memories that Stone had pushed to the back of his mind, guilt and self-loathing serve to destroy the beauty of their fledgling romance.

An enchanting, emotional and heartfelt story, with great background info and a cast of secondary characters we long to learn more about; In a Ranger’s Arms is sure to be the first of many more enchanting stories of the men (and soon to be women) of the At-Ease Ranch.

Though this was my first read by this author, I am now determined to look up her backlist and discover what other delights Ms Michaels has to offer.

I received a review copy.

I loved this book! It is what I call a “feel-good” book. Since I am a thriller/suspense reader, often my books are high-tension books with lots of action and serious issues. After a while, I find it nice to get an uplifting, happy book. This is a perfect one because it is not schmaltzy, and the hero and heroine are both independent and have great respect for each other.

St one and his brother, Brick Mitchum (I love those names), are former rangers. They, and two other ex-rangers, own a ranch where they take in veterans to help them with any issues they have so they can easily transfer back into society. They also own a construction company where they all work. This helps subsidize the ranch and any other expenses they may need.

Jovy Larson is a city girl whose grandfather has sent her to Texas as a test to see whether she or her cousin will be handed control of the family business. She must start up a gluten-free, vegan restaurant and do extremely well in cattle country. Her landlord is Stone.

Stone is a wonderful guy even though he has his own issues. Yet he spends his life helping other veterans for very little recompense. He is a sensitive, hard-working man who puts other’s well-being before his own. He is respectful of everyone no matter he or she is. Most importantly of all, he considers Jovy his equal in every way.

Jovy is a hard-working business woman who is extremely independent. If she wants something, she will do anything in her power to get it.

Stone and Jovy begin a love affair that both believe will be short term without any strings. After all, Jovy will only be there a month, and Stone puts his work with the veterans’ needs above everyone else.

This is a “feel-good” romance where the couple work together, help each other and treat each other respectfully at all times. I hope Ms. Michael's next book is about Brick Mitchum.

STone and the other rangers are broken and yet sexy and put together. Through Stone’s ranch and construction business they are pulling themselves together. they still need help but they are working together. Stone needs help the most. He is riddled with guilt with what happened with his best friend and not being there. He has now taken the weight on his shoulders and is straining under the stress. He’s a great guy caring and sweet just burdening himself with everything and not letting himself take a break.

that’s where Jovy comes in. She is competitive and in town to win the taking over her family’s company. Her task to run a successful vegan restaurant in a town of cowboys and ranches. She starts off with a bang-telling her landlord what she thinks of him. Her landlord-Stone. What she doesn’t realize is he really is a good guy. The attraction between them is palpable and so is both their desires to help others. He helps her business and she helps him and those around him.

Together they balance one another and have them see what is important. Stone begins to relax and Jovy finds herself. Than Stone’s guilt comes back and they grow apart. But this is a good thing because he sees the writing on the wall and him and the guys are forced to face some hard truths. This in turn gets them to become more whole and Stone to see his love for Jovy. He does a grand gesture that has you smile.

A wonderfully entertaining, sweet tale of two broken people in different ways who help the other heal and see that they belong together and are made for one another. We get some serious moments, sad moments but also some romantic and fun moments. The cow will crack you up and so will some of the townspeople. A fun romance.

Jovy moves to small town Texas for a month with a challenge: open a vegan restaurant in cattle country for four weeks and make a profit. Her cousin has a similar challenge. Whoever ends the month with a larger bottom line is named successor and CEO of her grandfather's company in Philadelphia.

Stone is an former Army Ranger - and also is Jovy's landlord. Stone is used to taking care of everyone around him, especially the his friends and employees at At-Ease Ranch. Jovy shows up and all of a sudden he wants something (someone) only for him, which is unfamiliar to him. Stone and Jovy have a rocky beginning, but are attracted to each other from first glance and can't stay away.

I would give this book 4 stars. This is as a quick, fun read. I liked the story, and the main characters. Their chemistry is great and I like their banter back and forth. I thought it was hilarious how hard it was for Jovy to act vegan when she was dying for a steak. The other guys at the At-Ease Ranch are great characters, too. I look forward to reading their books soon. I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review

So what happens when you put a city girl out in the middle of cowboy country and she tries to open a Vegan Cafe? Fun ensues that's what!

This book was super sweet, super sassy, and super sexy!

Jovy Larson is being put to the test. Go to the heart of cattle country and run a Vegan Cafe for one month with success. If she can do it, he will be able to take over her grandfather's business as CEO. How hard can it be? I mean her cousin has to sell snowmobiles in Hawaii for god's sake!

But what Jovy didn't figure in, is meeting the sexy ex-army, turned cowboy - Stone Mitchum. He's a distraction that she doesn't need but there is this pull that she can't deny.

Stone Mitchum doesn't have time for relationships. He's putting 110% of his effort into helping vets fit back into society after serving their country. But the new sassy tenant of his is definitely pulling him in a direction he hasn't thought about in a while.

I adored this book. Southern charm, small town antics and love where you least expect it. Get this book!

**3.5 Stars**

Stone, a former Army Ranger, is focused on his partnerships in Foxtrot Construction and At-Ease Ranch (love the names). Their purpose is to give returning veterans hope and a place to acclimate to being a civilian again.
It's also giving Stone something else to help combat the guilt he still feels over his friend, Leo's, attempted suicide last year. However, to help pay the bills he needs his new tenant to pay her rent, which she's insisting she's already done. Now Stone, instead of crossing off things on his massive to do list, has to visit Jovy, hoping she isn't going to be a troublesome tenant. When he sees a sexy woman on a ladder his body is suddenly wide awake and begging for what it's been missing for almost a year. Well, that is until a certain jealous heifer, Lula Belle, the cow devoted to Stone, decides to stake her claim. *Yes, it's exactly like it sounds.*

Jovy, in town to prove her business skills to her grandfather, figures the cow bearing down on her is in retaliation for Jovy trying to put her species out of work with her vegan and gluten free café idea in cattle country. You'd think the cow would be on her side, right? Maybe if the sexy cowboy hadn't been enjoying the view so much... When all that sexy stops her fall, she's surprised by her body's reactions, ones she hasn't felt for in a while.

Unfortunately, though the chemistry is very apparent, the first actual words exchanged aren't pleasant as she rambles about her landlord, not stopping until Stone introduces himself and demands she pay rent in cash...today. When she insists, again, that her grandfather paid it, Stone informs her she's incorrect and she either pays or leaves. *It seems her grandfather is enjoying testing her business skills.*

As Stone and Jovy spend time together, their attraction and connection to one another is hard to deny, though they both try for their own personal reasons. However, it doesn't last long as their desire becomes all consuming and steadily morphs into something worth fighting for.

Will Jovy's business succeed? Will Foxtrot Construction and the At-Ease Ranch become everything Stone and his business partners hoped? Will Jovy stay or return to Philadelphia when her four weeks are finished? When history repeats itself, will Stone push away the best thing to ever happen to him? Or will he hold on to Jovy, knowing how fragile life can be? Will Stone and Jovy get their HEA?

One-click now and watch as two people rise to the challenge, both professionally and personally. Overall, I liked this story and was invested in Stone and Jovy as a couple, until one certain part (see explanation below), bothered me. Yes, it was brief, but it painted a visual in my head that unfortunately started to eclipse the connection I was feeling for these two as a couple. After reading this, I just didn't feel as involved in their relationship as I had before. But please, bear in mind my reaction doesn't reflect at all on the author's talent, nor the premise of the book, and is simply a preference in what I look for in books. With that being said, I do intend to read the next book in this series.

On a purely personal note, I really could've done without Stone's mental thought as a reminder on why he knows he should fight his attraction to Jovy, and that is how last year, as Leo attempted suicide, he was "balls-deep in a waitress" and therefore didn't answer Leo's phone call. That seriously lessened my interest in them as a couple, especially considering just a few hours prior they had indulged in some foreplay (the second time they had done so), and she was currently sitting on his lap (as he has this thought mind you) after sharing an explosive kiss with him, and within a few pages after this they're having sex together for the first time. It was very unnecessary and in fact cheapens the connection he supposedly feels for her because he's thinking, although not of the actual sex per se, of the last time he had sex. Oh yeah, all women just love that. We all got the gist of why he feels guilty regarding Leo, we didn't need a blunt description. I don't want to visualize either main character with anyone else and would've preferred not having this particular part included.

This book should come with a love triangle warning, but not the normal love triangle you expect....
The story follows Stone Mitchum and his curvy tenant, Jovy. Stone is an ex-Army Ranger and with his brother, Brick, farm the At-Ease Range on the edge of a small Texas town. Due to an incident involving a good friend, Stone is sworn off women and just wants to get on with his life. He doesn’t want to be literally catching beautiful Jovy, as she falls off a ladder thanks an admirer, Lula Belle.
There are some really funny moments in this book, with genuine light hearted moments. Stone meets Jovy thanks to a love sick jealous cow; Lula Belle the heifer follows Stone around and breaks through her fences to get to him and is only happy when she is by his side. How can Jovy compete with such devotion?
Jovy arrives in town after being challenged by her father to run her own business and stand on her own two feet for a month. The challenge to run a vegan food shop in a red meat Texas town, if she does well she will become the next CEO of a multimillion company. She rents a shop from Stone and is determined to win the challenge. The only obstacle in the way is Stone, and of course Lula Belle. I must admit this is the first love triangle I’ve read about that involves an amorous cow. Both Stone and Jovy are likeable characters and are easy to get on. I enjoyed the book, it’s easy to read and flows well. I thought it was heart-warming and Stone and Jovy sizzle together and bounce off each other.
I did enjoy this book, but at times I did feel it was a bit predictable, despite the best efforts of Lula Belle! That aside it is a good read and a great way to pass a winters afternoon.

Stone Mitchum is a former Army Ranger, who through some serious guilt, stays away from women. He tells himself that he doesn't have time since he started a company with his brother, and two buddies, because he has too much on his mind. He's seriously focused on getting veterans transitioned back into society, and women are just a distraction. But his whole world is turned upside down when his newest tenant falls into his arms, and now his sex drive is up and running big time. Jovy Larson is stuck in the middle of cattle country in Texas, for four weeks in order to prove she's the one to take over the family company. Her task is to sell gluten-free, vegan food, to cowboys who love steak. But things go a bit sideways when she feels a strong attraction for her grumpy, but hot, new landlord. The line between her family company, and winning Stone's heart becomes blurred, so which test will she succeed at?

This is the first book that I've read by Donna Michaels, and I really enjoyed it! The character development is very good, with a highly entertaining cast of secondaries that includes a love sick cow. Which also makes for some very well placed humor that had me laughing hard throughout the entire story. Donna Michaels' talented writing style made it very easy for me to become fully immersed in the story quickly, and I didn't put it down until the very end. She added in some great twists and turns that made for emotional OMG moments, and the feel good factor was high! My big issue was the ending was a bit too rushed for me after all the angst of getting there, but that in no way will keep me from excitedly reading the rest of this series! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

In a Ranger's Arms is the first in a brand new series (The Men of At Ease Ranch) by new-to-me author Donna Michaels and WOW, was I impressed! For Entangled, I normally dont stray too far from the Brazen/Scorched lines but after reading the blurb I was hooked and wanted to see what this new series was going to be all about.
Jovy comes to town and opens a vegan, gluten-free restaurant. She only has four short weeks to prove to her grandfather that she is capable of turning a larger profit than her cousin (competing elsewhere) so she can win the company business when grandpa retires.
Stone is a retired Army Ranger who, along with his brother and friends, have started a business where they help veterans transition back into civilian life. They are building At Ease Ranch and its taking all of Stone's time, money and energy to do so. Stone is Jovy's landlord at her restaurant and it doesnt take very long for them to become overwhelmed with each other (woohoo!) and the sparks start flying!
Donna Michaels has written a lovely cast of characters - both the main (Stone and Jovy) as well as the supporting cast, including Lula Belle, who was quite a spectacle. LMAO.
I really thought Stone was a solid lead to start off this series. He had a strong personality that showed through in the flow of the story and was the man in charge of the ranch so he was the perfect fit for the new beginning.
I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the books and much more from Donna Michaels.

Sexy, snarky and oh so sweet…

This story had me at “cowboy” but I stayed for the fun and feisty relationship that developed in this not quite ‘fish out of water’ romance. Cowboys are their own breed, aren’t they? Salt of the earth types that love their land, their families and, often, their cows.

Stone Mitchum could be the cowboy poster child with his sense of responsibility, natural leadership and his quiet, but strong way… not to mention his rock hard abs - they were scrumptious too! Jovy Larson may be in town for a short while but she was quickly drawn under his spell. Even if they had a rocky start…

“Becoming a hit-and-moo victim of a rampaging cow had never made the list.”

Lula Belle was just one of the quirky and fun characters to be found in this gentle and humorous, rollicking read. From the very first meeting Stone and Jovy were sparking – whether butting heads (or other bits) they fit well together. And I will never, never, hear the phrase ‘going for a ride’ in the same way again. Whew… NEVER! They were funny and serious and the chemistry between them was perfect as they weathered the good and the bad.

“I’m beginning to realize that’s the norm for you… Looking beyond the surface and finding the good in things. People. Cows.”

This was serious and funny and so warm-hearted that I’m sure I smiled through most of it. This is one of those places I wanted to become a part of and these were all people I want to call friends.

This is only the first in this series and I can’t wait for more! ~ Diane, 4.5 Stars

Stone Mitchum, his brother Brick and their buddies Vince and Cord all former Army Rangers are building At-Ease Ranch *to give returning veterans a purpose, a reason to exist, and a place to stay on their ranch, if needed.(*direct book quote), in Joyful Texas. Besides running the ranch, they have Foxtrot Construction as well as renting out downtown storefronts to help bring in fund to help those returning veterans.
Jovy was sent to this cattle town by her grandfather, to set up a successful business as a contest between her and her cousin. So he could decide which of the two would be the next CEO so he could retire. However there's a major twist..... These beef eating cowboys are not going to want to eat at a gluten-free, vegan café. This is a huge obstical, however how in the world is she going to get this done with the instant attraction that sizzles between her and her landlord Stone Mitchum? The attraction zinging between them could start an electrical storm with a raging fire in the pouring Derain. Absolutely nothing could've prepared her for the memorable event of their kiss!
To see what happens between Stone and Jovy you'll have to read In A Rangers Arms. I absolutely loved this story! It deals with some PTSD issues that could be troublesome to some that are sensitive to those issues. What a great story!! I received an ARC via IndieSage through NetGalley in exchange for an honest blog tour review.

I really enjoyed this book for multiple reasons. First, who doesn’t love a book about strong, handsome Army Rangers, but mostly, because though it was the story about Stone and Jovy, it was a story about so much more.
First, to the main characters. Stone is a Former Army Ranger who is making it his vocation to help fellow Veterans not only enter once again the workplace back home, but also to help them emotionally by giving them a purpose. To this end, he, along with his brother Brick and 2 other “brothers in arms”, now own the ranch that had belonged to his grandfather. He lost a fellow Ranger a while back, and feels responsible for his death, so he is determined to stay away from women and any relationships.
Jovy is from Philadephia. Her grandfather has created a contested in which she and her cousins have to have a prosperous business within 4 weeks of being established. She is sent to Joyful, TX to open a vegan restaurant and her cousin to Hawaii , to sell snowmobiles. Take about a challenge. The prize, becoming CEO of the company both cousins love and want.
Needless to say, sparks fly when Jovy and Stone meet. You will laugh, you will cry, you will want to shake them up, you will fall in love not only with them, but the town, it’s characters , and the military men.
So, pick up this book. I promise you will not regret it.

I was gifted this book by Netgalley and Entangled Lovestruck Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

In a Ranger’s Arms was such an emotional and heartwarming read. Yes I cried while reading this book and for me that is a plus because it means I’m emotionally invested in the characters. Stone is a cowboy that holds the world on his shoulders. The last thing he wants is to have a distraction with a 4 week time frame recking havoc in his hectic life. Jovy is a distraction with a capital D. She is there for one month hoping to open a profitable gluten-free/vegan food—in the middle of cattle country, Texas. She is in competition with her cousin with the prize becoming the CEO of her family’s company. Stone, along with his brother and friends, run a business that is beneficial to veterans but barley staying above water. He also feels he has a sense of responsibility to an army buddy who attempted suicide last year and he felt he left down for his own pleasure. Both Jovy and Stone can’t deny their chemistry and with a little help from friends they pursue the intenseness raging between them. I loved this story because I was not only invested in the main character but I also loved all the secondary characters as well. I would give this book 4.5 stars.
