YOU JUST GOT A STATEMENT FROM
BOB THE CLUB'S OWNER.

BO YES, IT WAS A WRITTEN
STATEMENT FROM BARBARA POMA WHO
OPENED AT THIS CLUB AS A
MEMORIAL TO HER BROTHER WHO DIED
OF AIDS.

THIS SACRED SITE WILL BE
PROPERLY MEMORIALIZED FOR YEARS.
AS FOR THE FINANCIALS, WE
UNDERSTAND FROM THE MAYOR'S
OFFICE THAT THE PURCHASE PRICE
FROM THE CITY IS $2.25 MILLION.
THAT MONEY WILL BE EARMARKED
FROM THE CITIES LAND ACQUISITION
FUND, BUT IT MUST MEET WITH
APPROVAL OF CITY COMMISSIONERS
AT A MEETING NEXT MONDAY, THE

GOING TO LOOK LIKE.

SORT OF COMMITTEE IS FORMED TO
COME UP WITH THE BEST IDEA ON
HOW TO HONOR THE VICTIMS GOING
FORWARD IN THE COMING YEARS.
THE MAYOR'S OFFICE SAYS THE SITE
WILL BE TAKEN INTO POSSESSION BY
THE END OF THIS YEAR AND LEAVE
IT AS IS FOR THE BETTER PART OF
12 MORE MONTHS SO THEY CAN
CONTINUE TO GATHER INFORMATION
AND PUBLIC INPUT ON HOW TO BEST
MOVE FORWARD.
City to buy Pulse nightclub for $2.25 million
Updated: 4:54 PM EST Nov 8, 2016
The City of Orlando will buy the Pulse nightclub and convert it into a memorial, the mayor’s office confirms.
In August, WESH 2 reported that the city was in talks to buy the site and turn it into a memorial. Now, a proposed purchase agreement of $2.25 million is set to go before the City Council on Monday.
Mayor Buddy Dyer said the site should probably remain as-is for the next 12 to 18 months, as it has become a gathering place for mourners since the June 12 shooting.
"This location is now a permanent part of Orlando’s history, it’s the site of the most tragic event that has ever occurred in the City of Orlando," Dyer said. "We want our entire community to be a part of this site. With the City owning the property, we can engage in a public process to determine the future of the Pulse property and building."
