The Damned at Gramercy Theatre

Post Author: Edwina Hay

Commemorating their 40th anniversary of formation and release of their first single “New Rose” in 1976, The Damned performed three sold out concerts in late October: one in Los Angeles (October 27) and two in New York (October 29 and 30). The band performed two sets each night pulling songs from their first LP (Damned Damned Damned), Machine Gun Etiquette, Strawberries, and more, separated by an intermission. On Sunday, October 30, photographer Edwina Hay attended their final anniversary show at Gramercy Theater in Manhattan and provided the images for this gallery.

If you missed The Damned on their anniversary tour, they will record a new album this winter and embark on a full North American tour in support of it in the spring.

The Damned were the first British punk band to tour the USA & are still doing it four decades later.
